It's inspiring how not offended Gilbert will be at anything thrown his way. He either cackles at it an insult, or has a witty "yes, and..." quip to add on to roast himself. Not even Bill Burr is that immune to insult

i just realized that gilbert sucks. he overcompensates for his crungy impressions by uping the “offensive racist” factor with the minstrel blackface. if i were black id be offended or annoyed at the very least. since i am white, its a really lame schtick and brings out the worst in howard while robin laughs to hide her owm annpyance. i repeat “gilbert fuckin sucks”

Let’s be honest here. No one on that show was forcing him or pressuring him into using the N word or being incredibly racist, no matter how hilarious it was. None of that offends me whatsoever. But Gilbert knew damn well he worked for squeaky clean companies like Aflac, Hollywood and Disney of all places that you’re told in no uncertain terms to tow the public relations and political line. He went on multiple shows, whether it was appearances to sit in, Hollywood Weird Squares, roasts, call ins to the show, etc. There is multiple times in each appearance where out of nowhere, a lot of time when they weren’t even on topic, he’d find a way to joke and say a word that was complete career killing stuff, even back then. I’m sure Howard loved it for his ratings after the fact, but to think Howard had any say in what Gilbert chose to put out on live television and radio is just nuts. I hate the show these days too, but did god’s sake boys, Howard is 69 years old. The man is mere months from 70. Gilbert loved poking the bear and society. You can’t place any of that shit on Howard. It’s like saying anyone that gets any negative press or repercussions is free of their actions and what they said just because they said it on someone else’s radio or religion program.
