A nostalgic look at a pristine example of a classic matchbox kit... LAST IN THE MATCHBOX SERIES. For more similar content, see @Peter Oxley Thanks for watching!
Great kit and a truly worthy addition to the hall of fame of fighter aircraft. Have loved this run of matchbox kits Peter. Brought so many fond memories of a 70s kid flooding back. Thank you.
I'll be honest. I'm not an aircraft modeller and I'm not all that interested in aircraft, and here's the "but". I really enjoy your videos, and as a kid I did have the occasional aircraft model and if memory serves this may have been one of them, because, well, just look at it; it is cool. And now thanks to you I may even end up buying an aircraft kit. To give you an idea about me, I was born in 1965 so all of the Matchbox kits came out at exactly the right time for me and my friends and many a good battle was enjoyed with models from all eras fighting it out in the flower bed.
Thanks for this video. I remember building this kit in 86' , about the time I switched from exclusively 1/35th armour kits, to aircraft for a number of years. I still have those optional ANG decals in my spares! I added a rudimentary cockpit, and detailed the seat with some strip and rod and airbrushed it with Tamiya chrome silver. I used the stand included in the kit, but ended up gluing it to a small plaque, as it was a bit " tippy". I have heard a lot of " serious modellers" rip on these kits over the years, about how innacurate and toy-like they are, but I think they're great, low impact/stress builds, good for a " weekend project" Thanks again!
Hi Peter, do you remember the four kit sets that Matchbox made during the early eighties. I got this kit as part of one of those sets. There was the F86, the Sky hawk, the F104 and one other that I can't remember for the life of me now. Four kits in one...I so wish I'd kit this in my stash🙄.
Hi! I loved old Matchbox kits. I'll think you miss 1/72 Northrop F-5A with CAF decal. Back then in 70s I'm really want to get my hand on it because back then our RMAF just bought a Northrop F-5E Tiger II but it's remain a dream. Hope you can unboxing it if you get a hand on it. Thanks
Peter, did you have your Matchbox kits in your stash from a long time back; or are you buying them as you find them? I've looked on ebay and they are going from some fantastical prices. Loving these reviews in particular as made a number of the aircraft and armour kits as a kid. Thank you.
Hi Jerry, I started collected them around 2010 and have built up the collection over ten years. I wish current manufacturers would copy the Matchbox plane stands and armour dioramas.
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab despite all the fancy modern kits out there, there's just something about Matchbox kits. Yes, stands ought to included. I agree, Matchbox's ones were excellent. Thanks for the info Peter. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
