Well done. It’s a fair leap of faith to change the entire bottom half, been there!!

Glad to see the alignment is better.... I will follow suit this weekend and the first thing I'm going to do is check the rear subframe before cutting anything out.....

Much better, lines up good, I try not to use the jig when doing work on this scale because of movement, it's good when new panels go on, well done 👍

Tony Aylott yeah it was a lesson learnt and seems like a lot of people have had the same issues as me. Hopefully not long and I will be welding it all in..

Marc, Great to see it‘s starting to line up so much better, When the heel board bolts are tight it should bring the rear truinions in line. I use a box section bar between the front & the back of the jig to support it in the middle. Great to meet you & the guys. Cheers Dave

davejaguar66 cheers Dave yeah the heel board bolts being in bad definitely bought the subframe into a better line for sure. Think it all needs to move forward just a little bit more as it’s very tight at the moment. It was great to meet you to 👍

Love these videos-really inspirational stuff. Thanks for taking the time to share and please keep them coming. Love the fact that you document when it goes wrong as well as when it goes right. It’s been a couple of years since I finished rebuilding mine and have been thinking about taking on a bare shell as a project and building it up how I wanted..... you’ve pretty much helped me to make up my mind now! Lol

Alex Woods thanks Alex it’s this part which takes the biggest amount of time but once it’s checked and checked again I can get welding the rest of the car doesn’t make me nervous I have done it all before. I thinks important to show that no matter what you do things don’t always work out etc. Definitely get that project done. We actually have a shell for sale 😉

Simpson’s Classics When the fresh metal eventually goes in though it’s a great feeling. Stick with it-can’t wait to see how it turns out. Oh really, that’s tempting! Lol Does it have a V5? I’m in Shropshire though so possibly a bit far..... although originally from Cheadle Hulme ironically.

Alex Woods yeah that’s the plan Alex my other half wanted to do it once and with the best panels we can do this how it’s going. So hope it all goes together soon. Yes it does have a v5

I didnt use a jig at all and didnt have any problems a lot of problem is people dont brace the car before they take the subframes and doors off. Brace it as it sits on the wheels with doors on and shut
@SimpsonsClassics
@SimpsonsClassics 5 лет назад
mark piper yeah I have heard the same to the car was braced before the doors and subframes came off that war the first thing I made sure of.

Marc, I've had problems with my jig too and will go down the route of the roof bars too. The car has been off the jig for a while now and is currently sitting on an old table lol

Sean C yeah so far it seems to have worked but we are a long way off welding yet need a second pair of eyes on it really.
