Over the years, I've had several bevel-drive Dukes. Loved the twins, but the singles always vibrated more than I expected (especially the 450s, of which I had two - slow learner). Mind you, the switchgear and electrics were not the best, but a clever fellow could usually fix those problems. Engine/frame/suspension were all glorious.
@@bikerdood1100 Ducati always geared the singles pretty low, so they were buzzy, but I tried changing sprockets and still had the vibration. I rode my last 450 and then got on my old Manx for comparison. The Manx was much nicer...if you can call it that! I still have the Manx, which has a huge Fontana 4-shoe front brake and upgraded saddle made for me by Corbin in the USA (a concession to my old bony ass). People keep telling me it's worth a bunch of money, but I reply that I've had it since 1969 and traded a Victor 441 straight up for it. That usually shuts them up! Mind you , I HATED the Victor: it looked splendid but was an awful motorcycle...and BSA had positioned the oil filler cap just right to bite you behind the knee if you weren't very careful. "Ergonomics" was certainly in the Oxford English Dictionary, but apparently not in Birmingham...
