Nearly all the Premier League players have these "skills" in the locker. The pace and stakes of top flight football means losing the ball against an International selected player. So tactically, he will be asked, drilled and trained to play in a measured way. If Henderson stayed a winger, instead of a DM, you'd see more, but for 7 years he wasn't the most improvisational player in LFC squad - having played midfield alongside those trusted to show flair: Downing, Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana, Suarez, Firmino, Mane, Salah, etc. Lucas Leiva (AM at Gremio to DM at Liverpool) is a really good (but technically much better) example of a very skillful player "reining it in" at DM to play for the team.

Hendersons a beast. He doesn't get the credit which he deserves. He played as a winger for Sunderland but when he came to us he played as an attacking midfielder and he used to score a few goals. Guy deserves more respect.

@@johnterry3312 Well, it's a lot to go into in a short comment, and also tbh I wrote this a year ago and have now forgotten most of what I'd been thinking about at the time. iirc I thought that the lads shown here on this episode aren't as obviously media-savvy, scrubbed-up, polished or diverse as we've come to expect from teams these days. For better and/or worse, and passing no judgement either way, they're a rougher bunch. It was a rougher game back then. Hopefully that helps🤷
