@@bhuvanesh0115 Mostly due to his game style change, Federer has to be more aggressiv than before to stand a chance against Novak or other guys. Since Novak do not make mistakes (no shorts balls, no UE but almost no winners as weel since he is taking minimum risk) it is in Federer hand to push Novak and since Novak is stronger mentally, you always end up with this scenario

Federer and tiebreaks against Djokovic just aren't a good mix for him. There's a significant differential in level between the two in these moments. One can put the ball in the court patiently and the other one can't.

Fed has the best tiebreak record of all time, but since he's gotten old and compensated for lack of baseline consistency with more offense, every tb point becomes a moment of important decisions, while djokovic (as he has said) just goes into 'do not miss' mode and it's very simple from his side. this is, as you say, not a good mix for fed.

The level of tennis with these guys (big 3) compared to anything else is so far above anyone. The torch was never passed to anyone else. Only age, and finally the wear of its mileage will only allow them to just lay the torch down on the court and walk away. No one new can ever say they snatched it.

Crazily enough, despite the loss here, Federer would go on to make the next 4 finals essentially in a row. The only final he missed was when he didn't play in 2016... I think we can omit 2020 IW, since no one will be playing lol.

In my opinion, the final set tiebreaks of this one, 2018 Paris SF, and 2019 Wimbledon F are very similar. They're all horrible, or at least Djokovic is solid and Federer is spraying errors.

@@BrotherTree1 yeah I mean even their most recent one in AO Semi was a pretty lopsided tiebreak. Fed just seems to mentally break down once it gets to 6-6, it's weird.. although some may say he was not fully fit during that match, he was actually leading 4-1 40-0 I think in the first set before Novak levelled it to a tiebreak. Djoko just woke up, I guess, as he always does on crunch time (while Fed seems to do the opposite)

Federer is always strong off the blocks but Novak always finds a way to keep up with him as the match goes on. Federer usually wins the 1st set but Novak gradually steps up his game to stay level with him and just has more firepower at the end.

Nadal and Djokovic won’t retire until their break Federer’s records! Even if it means they have to play ten more years! Trust me, those next gen kids are lazy and can’t do anything to them! The only obstacle is Thiem, but then again it really depends if he has an A-day or not...and whether one between Djokovic and Nadal doesn’t play his best tennis! Look i’ll make it clear! Djokovic and Nadal will both break Federer records and coronavirus won’t change that! It already shows signs of slowing down in some countries, so i don’t expect ATP tour to be postponed for much longer! (I can bet my house and all of my belongings that by August it will already be resumed and tournaments will take place normally!)

All the new tennis fans here who think Federer has choked in tie breaks for years 🙄😂 If you’d actually watched tennis back then, you’d know Roger has only started choking in tie breaks in the last few years. He actually won some of the most important ones like Wimbledon 2014, Indian Wells 2015, Wimbledon 2015, Cincinnati 2015. He just sucks in the last 3-4 years

It's not that people don't appreciate Novak, he's among the best for sure. Always has been since 2008. The problem is, his game isn't really ''wow''. I mean, it's solid, it's robotic solid, but he ain't watchable unless you are fan of his. So yeah, he might retire as the guy with most slam titles, weeks as number 1 etc, but those who watched the previous two eras and the current, will probably remember Nadal and Federer just above Novak. Let's see.

Agreed. He's a more complete player than Federer and Nadal and could end with a more brilliant career than them, but his style just isn't that enjoyable to most of the people. Excellent systematic execution, but not as iconic as Federer volleys or Nadal passing shots, just to give a few examples.

I don’t know about “should have won easily”. He played fine in the 2nd set and was actually down a break for most of the 3rd. Yes he played a bad tiebreak but that’s just mental game, which really does matter.
