I love Gabriel’s version of this great song. He understands and loves jazz and all the freedom it gives him, and he does it so well. I love his last long run before “and I’m Feelin’”. I love all the different vowels he goes through and the amazing breath control he shows us. This has always been a favorite song of mine, and I think his version tops them all. All those acrobatics and riffs and the whistle and it’s all effortless. He’s just in his element, and having fun with it…it’s always attractive to watch someone at the top of their game exuding confidence and expertise while having fun.
