The older Kpop songs focused more on the artist's voice, a lot of the music/melody was supposed to show through the singing, not the background accompanying instruments. While I do like the newer songs too, I often miss the older Kpop style, which seems much more melodic to me than what is popular now. And you used to hear more of the singer's voice while today there is a lot of emphasis on the beats.
KnockinOnHeavensGate I absolutely agree 100%. I feel like kpop nowadays is more about the production value and less about the singers voice and even less about the emotions they're trying to convey with their music. Kpop seems to lack heart nowadays
yeah like I don't get that. Why would you want to propose to someone with a song that basically says "Hey you are getting married but not to me"? it makes no sense xD
2NE1 QUEENS yaaasss it's great that he can get married with a lot of support from fans. Also min hyorin is an awesome women so they are both lucky to have each other.
Wedding Dress is a masterpiece, a lot of asians in America knew about KPOP before anyone else and those who didn't like it respected one song in the beginning of the 2010s and it's Wedding Dress by Taeyang ^^. I love it so much, it's one of the songs that made me stay in KPOP.
TheBoitevide yeah even non kpop fans were so into it during that time. And in university presentations it became really popular. Like you are not a university dancer if you havent danced into that during that time. Oh my young days
Toni Elyse Better Bautista OMG TRUE AF. I remember seeing a lot of dance covers from university students back in the day!! And the iconic suit, hat and fedora outfit.
TheBoitevide It's actually really funny that you mention Asians knowing about K-pop before anyone else. In my early days of K-pop, I thought it was purely just an Asian thing to like K-pop since the majority of people I knew who liked K-pop were Asian and I hardly saw anyone other than Asians liking it, even on RU-vid (aside from a few exceptions here and there ofc). And when I took a break from K-pop and came back about two years ago, I saw a lot more people than just Asians doing reactions, dance covers, and singing to K-pop songs and ngl, I was surprised lol.
As a KPOP fan for more than 10 years, this never gets old! I still jam to this song until today and it makes me happy knowing that Taeyang will get to see the woman he loves in a wedding dress and actually marry her! P.S. If you guys want to listen to more RNB vibes from BIGBANG, might I suggest "A Fool of Tears"? It's like Taeyang channeling his inner Omarion lol. Such an epic song.
Church girl Rosé I still am head over heels crazy over BIGBANG lol. They are the only male group that I stan hardcore. Well I am loving WINNER now too. But yes, their old songs are truly priceless! ❤️
Me too lmaoo literally almost of bigbang music is my jam. When i played my playlist and listen to their intro (example, taeyang eyes nose lips) i was like ".... Ugh please, not again" and when the music starts "ok.. MIANHAE MIANHAE HAJIMAA ..... Okay shit about getting real....NOYE NUN KO IP..... GAJI DAAAAAAA......OUH I LOVE MYSELF HIT EM HIGH NOTE YASS" im sorry 😂😂😂😂
it means someone should sing this song in his wedding, ideally someone who wants min hyorin lmao, then Taeyang can be the guy that marries the girl in the video and have the role reversed :)
cmq23 my brother took a screenshot of the video when Taeyang was about to give her the ring and kept it as the desktop wallpaper. Good old days.... I'm getting old😂
Yup. Mostly everyone in my circle of friends started listening to kpop because of this. Even just a few years back, I was in the waiting room at the dentist and some guy had this song as his ringtone. This song is legendary af and will last a lifetime :)
I saw the list that you will be reacting to Jonghyun. I hope you can give justice to how you will explain his legacy both as a member of SHINee and as an artist. Including the tragic happenings that followed. Thank you so much! ❤
CL Novelas I appreciate the way you said this, alot of requests i've seen across the board are react to SHINee/Jonghyun bc JH died. And not because SHINee is an amazing group in their own right. So thank you.
Insomniac21 Thank you. I believe that what happened to him should be acknowledged but we shouldn't remember or define him or SHINee with it. Jonghyun was so much more and I miss him everyday.
As the other members said, Jonghyun will always be a member of Shinee. 💙 Jonghyun is more than his tragic ending; he was the voice to many who couldn't say how they felt and brought so much light to topics that are usually kept hushed hushed through his music, even though he himself was hurting inside. I'm sure Umu will explain it well. 💙
Taeyang's songs amazing. More Taeyang please. (Where u at, I will be there, ringa linga, only look at me, eyes nose lips, wake me up, darling and a lot of) Omg he has really amazing songs.
This was my very first Kpop song, I've rewatched it a thousand times. Funny thing is I didn't know this was Big Bang's Taeyang and I didn't know this was the dude who sang "Eyes, Nose, Lips" until recently. So pretty much I fell in love with 3 dudes who end up being the same dude.
LyonCross yes I think too this was legend song. And Taeyang has a lot of legend songs. Esc; eyes nose lips , ringa linga, only look at me and where u at.
I know old-timey kpop fans will gawk at me when I say... "I've never watched Wedding Dress" (and I've been a kpop fan for almost a decade now) Lol at the comment - "It's K.Will all over again!"
old timey??? a 2010 song?? lol ok.......kids. i hate to hear what you would call songs from boa, fink.l, shinhwa, h.o.t, and other folks from the 90s/early 2000s
Taeyang and Ringa Linga was what brought me to the black hole that kpop is hehehe so Wedding Dress is of course part of the dark path that took me here. Don't get me wrong, I can't be happier! changed my life.
I miss old kpop :( the musics are so unique and original and idols were so in love with the music/art ~~ and your nickname is the best ♥️ 2NE1 forever and ever! NOLZA!
mlle whimsy I think Hugo can beatbox because there was another reaction vid wherein he sort of did beatbox for a bit. I just can't remember which vid that was. But yeah, I believe it's one of his many talents.. 😊
I'm friends with a lot of musicians and a majority of the pianists that I know can play this song probably even with their eyes closed because they play this so much. Wedding Dress and Yiruma's River Flows In You are the top 2 popular piano songs that they know how to play.
The dance to this song was so popular back then. When it came to this song I either hear the "omg it's Taeyang" or the "omg Shawn & Lyle choreographed this dance" reaction.
I love how much time you spend analysing the song musically, it’s really refreshing! Thank you for the video and please have these classical musicians react to more Big Bang, Taeyang, iKON, Bobby, and Winner 💖
This song made KPOP famous in America... Like seriously everyone love this song and knew Taeyang before they knew who/what BIGBANG was... EVERY talent show at school, someone always had to dance to this song!! Ppl copied the clothes he wore in the mv.. he even made mohawk super popular! Haha this song was and still is one of the bestttt ever. Love Taeyang!
Ahhhh!!! THANKS FOR THE FEELZ, UMU! I couldn't wait for the reactors to watch this! This brings back so many fond memories and feelz, haha. Taeyang recently announced his engagement too, so good timing! ;)
FINALLY! A classic Kpop song. I love the other reacts too, but this one hits home for me, and I really wish you'd do some older stuff. Older Super Junior, SNSD, Big Bang, TVXQ, 2PM, Shinhwa, CN Blue, Epik High, Lee Hyori, Rain, BoA, and the like. Without them, the guys you like and react to now, wouldn't be as successful. A lot of those groups had massives hits like Mirotic, Sorry Sorry, Gee, Hip Song, and THE OLD SM THE BALLAD....HOT TIMES? That was a DAMN good song. Thank you for everything you do for us, but I wanted to say how happy I am to finally see a song that brings back all the feels and a video that pays homage to the greats of K-pop that made the way for 3rd/4th generation-ers.
It's funny how newer kpop fans would watch this and go "it's k.will all over again." Meanwhile, because I saw Wedding Dress years before Please Don't came out, this Taeyang mv was my basis for comparison. While watching the Please Don't mv, it was so easy to dismiss the plot because I was thinking "ah, so like Weddig Dress?" And so when the plot twist happened, I was like "HOSHIT ITS NOT LIKE WEDDING DRESS."
this song makes me feel so nostalgic, i grew up listening to this song. im happy you guys reacted to it! taeyang felt sad that he didnt marry the girl he loves in the mv, BUT he is getting married now, yay!
This song makes me get teary eyed every time I hear it! OMG I love this song and its special to me in the sense that its one of the first ever K-Pop songs I was ever exposed to.
Ah yes. One of my favorite Taeyang songs and also the song that got me into kpop. This song brings all those feels of excitement back. 😄 PS. Wedding dress came out in 2009 btw.
Taeyang was a biased wrecker in this era. But I stayed strongly fond of GD. 💙 Wedding Dress was so wow back then. It pretty much represented Taeyang as an individual and kicked off his solo career.
this was seriously one of the first kpop songs that i knew oh the memories 😭 i was in like 4th grade and when me and my friends watched the mv i remember saying "if i was him i would've slammed the piano and took off" LOL
one of the songs that got me into kpop/being a vip!!! also major throwback to when this was the only hairstyle yb had for ages and we were begging for him to change it aaaaaand then we got the gimbaps in monster (-:
