I find similar power and attention in Irish dance. The ankle bends, the reel and the door in Ireland. The clog, the stiff upper body, the seriousness in sound and rhythm. Excellent!!
@@maryamkim1281 It very much is though. Part of its origin may very well come from the Gypsies, who arrived in Europe around the 10th century. But it evolved, was developed, transformed and expressed in Mediterreanean culture. It didn't come ready made from somewhere else.
What more proof does the world need that tap dancers are basically percussionists who need no instrument but themselves? Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
I want to Spain with my wife and three daughters in June of 2019. we landed in Barcelona, then went to Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba. I felt so connected to the culture, the life, the music, the food and the wine. I would love to go again soon.
Absolutely spectacular! I can't imagine the strength and endurance someone would have to have to keep up that precision and intensity for over five minutes. His legs muscles must have been on fire by the end.
That's beautiful that you know his full name . He deserves to be remembered! I know we've all heard of Flamenco...but this performance made me feel Flamenco!
I’m always looking for ties between cultures, especially with the Irish - I have to say this performance would make Flamenco a prime candidate for some relation to “sean nós” dancing - the still/rigid upper body coupled with rhythmic complex footwork and pronounced tapping…. and Bravo to this performance!
@@shreyabasak8515 how so? There may be some similarities, but they may have arisen independently. How do you make the historical connection from one to the other?
He's brilliant! Doesn't move his torso! Brava! When I was little, the adults were talking and drinking, I'd lie on the floor, chin in hands listening to "the magic heels of Jose Greco, one of my aunt's cool records. I never knew what the whole dancer looked like but I was carried away! Thank you for posting!
I used to do flamenco in my 20s... it's really difficult and I believe if you're not a "die hard" it's very difficult. He makes it look easy! It requires a crazy amount of stamina.
I see this is from 1965….I hope so much this dancer is still alive and can read the appreciative comments on this site! I have never seen such a dancer, with such a motionless upper body while dancing…….truly fantastic! Total respect, from England.
First six minutes of the performance leads up to that great finale where you can see the piercing and natural unity of the spanish and the chorus at the end feels like hearing all the passion, emotion, glory, fear, excitement and the achievement of the nation in mere seconds. This gave me shivers. Masterpiece!
Puro arte. Un genio.
Discipline applies at all levels to dissolve ego. Dissolve ego and you see the Reality of each human shining forth. Give as these people do in every act from that inner wholeness that comes with fullness of body ( mind is part of body) and spirit in harmony and you see excellence.
