I cannot tell you how much your videos help me. I’m in my first year of teaching and my school is pretty rough, too. Some days I feel like I’m drowning and I’m not good enough because I have to do CPI holds on 3rd graders…3RD GRADERS 😭. I feel very overwhelmed and sometimes “afraid” of my students. Not like they’ll physically hurt me but that I’ll get cussed out or they’ll refuse to accept their punishment for not following the classroom rooms…it’s just a lot to go through emotionally. The school I student taught at was the complete opposite, nothing could have prepared me for students’ behavior I’m experiencing now. That being said, I’ve grown A LOT since August but I still have a long ways to go. I love my kiddos SO much and this is my dream job but it’s so freaking hard some days. That is the exact same kind of school that I teach at. I will say it definitely does get better or you at least get better at finding ways to handle it. Check out my videos on classroom management that’ll help a lot. It’s not anything that’s going to be like an overnight fix but implementing these things consistently will really help. This is my fifth year at the school so now that I’ve had all of the kids every year that they’ve been here it has made a huge difference. Now even with the older kids although they’re still not perfect it is a lot better. I noticed that some of the other newer teacher still have a lot of the I to have and I have this. I also say you can get personally. But even today I did have one who like completely just refuse to do anything that I asked completely refuse to do any of the consequences and frankly there’s only so much you can do. So I gave him his consequence I told him what he needed to do and then I just basically ignored him because if he’s not gonna do it like I can call mom and if she answers great but it’s still not really going to help. Making class really fun does help because then they want to. Even this particular student was refusing to do the punishment until we got to kind a like the fun part of class and then he did it immediately. So sick and with there be strategic. Have a back up plan that you can do in case something goes down. And don’t take it personally because it really truly is not about you
Loved the ideas!! Especially the cards. I'm in metro-atl and the kids are a handful but I completely agree that building relationships with the kids really helps.
Ha ha ha nothing special. It’s mostly kids toys out of Chick-fil-A kid meals and things that I’ve been given as gifts over the years. I usually add candy and pencils and stuff like that but this year I didn’t add anything so Its just whatever ended up in there
+Becca's Music Room Hello Becca , First , I do want to ask what you would do for the student that is just having a bad day or for the student that may need something to fidget with or do something specifically to help them calm down ? Do you have any calm down accessories ? Second , when your students like your singing it shows that you may have something on them that goes well beyond teaching and using that to your advantage can make someone's day a good day or make someone's good day even better . - Dwight
Hi Dwight! I don’t have fidgets but some of them bring them and I don’t fuss about it. We do a lot of movement so their hands are usually not still anyway!
