Question...if the assumption is that there won’t be any group work if we ever come back, why would you have a library nook where the students would not be able to use due to potential cross contamination. I am not even sure we would lend books because of cross contamination. I swear EVERY strategy and practice I learned to be a good teacher the virus just laughs at and says, “think again....not this year darlin” I can’t even imagine us going back under these conditions. How traumatic is it going to be for kids to be so limited in their learning environment. Such a sad, sad year for all of us.
I’m studying elementary ed in college right now and I love your channel! I lot of other teacher vlogs pretend that they’re not stressed at all and only focused on how excited they are, but with you it’s totally genuine! You’re super excited, but you also acknowledge that teaching’s crazy and stressful at the same time. Thanks for showing us the real things teachers feel :)
I can't believe maternity leave in the US is so short! 3 months is too early to leave adorable babies at home that you just want to snuggle all day! I'm just across the border in Canada and we have a year which I still don't think is enough! =(
Black fabric on your bulletin boards would make the green and blue colors pop (plus the fabric doesn’t wrinkle, fade, or rip)! My classroom colors are blue, green, and black...just a suggestion if you haven’t chosen how you will re-do your decorating! :)
Sooo exciting!! I kinda bummed you don’t get a new classroom but kinda glad you don’t have to move again! Few things feel normal right now- you vlogging your room set up feels normal and I needed that! Thank you! ❤️
I am so excited to see all the classroom setup series. I love watching you. It’s probably going to be weird for you to teach younger kids than older kids.❤️ can’t wait to see how your classroom setup looks.
I just got to see one of my first classrooms for the first time today! I just got my first teaching job in elementary and middle school resource room and so I’ll have two classrooms to set up and decorate. 😅 and we are rural so the plan is to open August 31st. The big problem is that the teacher that had my room at the elementary school last year is still at the school and hasn’t moved any of her stuff yet and it’s split with the speech teacher since I’m only there part time and all of the speech stuff is there too, so I have no idea what is leaving and what is staying but at least I got to see the room and start to get ideas.
Your wow work board is amazing, can't believe ya letting it go...I love your boards because it reminds me of your 3rd grade room...the themes the colors and the burlap...
OMG I am so excited! I have been watching you from the beginning and am so excited because this is my first year of teaching and I am teaching 2nd grade!!
Hello from Alberta, Canada! I'm super excited to watch your new setup series! I am also going into my fourth year and will be teaching a 1/2 split this year. Last year I taught 5-8 ELA, so I am definitely feeling the shift as well.
I love the color scheme! We can't get inside of our classrooms for another 2 weeks. My school is going to do the desk set up before so that they know how many students they can fit before we can come in and decorate. This gives me inspiration though and I'm excited to get started!
You inspire me so much. Like, half of me wants to co teach with you because I know it would be a TIME 😂but your presence is just amazing. Your kids are so lucky to have you.
I am fervently crossing my fingers hoping that we are able to be in our classrooms, even if the kids are at home... It would be so much easier to separate school life from home life.
Lol “Oh, they’re coming tomorrow!” - it’s crazy that teachers have to prepare for administration to make decisions like this and just be expected to be okay with it and adapt. Teachers are superhumans!!! I’m honestly thankful I’m going on mat leave this September because the way our board is handling things (I’m in Canada) is just crazy...
Honestly, I am ready to be back in the classroom the minute our governor says it's safe. So I do not mind to have to prep something in a weekend. This day will be sooooo emotional and waited for!
FIRST OF ALL, 6 months postpartum and you look stunning! Second, hope you and your fam are well during these crazy covid times. Next, we missed you!! I'm so excited for this series.
2nd graders definitely love stuffed animals! Even 4th graders do (one of my favorite pictures ever is this super shy 4th grade boy snuggling Scaredy Squirrel while he took a reading quiz ❤️). I love the library; I wouldn’t move it like others suggested because those taller shelves need to be against the wall so they don’t accidentally tip and hurt anyone.
I totally relate to you.. first day of school is in 5 days for us and i am not done with my classroom. It doesn't matter at all because we are virtual until further notice but I'm still stressed about it not being done! Its my first classroom so i wanted that experience of setting up a room 😭 its been fun so far...we (coteaching) used the white wood paper for one of the walls!
So excited for you! I love your videos. Have you thought about putting your teacher area/kidney desk by your birthday board or your back cabinets? You will have storage for all the things and you would have a view of your entire room? Can’t wait to see what you do.
I’m only a minute into the video, and I’m already SCREAMING because we’re going to be teaching the same grade!!!! 🤩 Loooong time ago I was commenting while student teaching, but now I’ve taught PreK, Kinder, now it’s time for 2nd. 👍🏼
So lucky you didn’t have to move rooms when you switched grade levels!! Also i just realized I’m exactly like you: this will be my 4th year teaching and i didn’t have to move rooms this year (for the 1st time) as well! Haha
I love following your channel from the beginning, and your energy! I am looping with my kiddos to third grade, and need help leveling my library. I’m thinking, due to COVID, all the more reason to have my library leveled so they can take their book bins to their desk. Please tell me how you leveled your books? Do I have to google each one?
I’ll be teaching second grade online from my classroom too! Seconds are sweet (it’s my third year in second; before that I taught fifth!) they are helpless in the beginning!LOL!
Aw!! Was looking forward to seeing 6th grade ideas. I’ll be teaching 6th this year. 😅😁 Hope 2nd grade is awesome for you, wishing you a great school year.
If you still have to have a word wall for 2nd grade just use the same space as your Science word wall & I am so excited that your are doing a lower grade level I cannot wait to see what you come up with 🥰
Welcome to the second grade bandwagon. I will move with our whole school to a new building this year😱. So I am enjoying every minute of content you put out.
I never thought about the chance of coming back 😩 they made us strip down our rooms but since I’m on maternity leave I can’t even think about setting up 😂 it’s a weird time to be on maternity leave and not starting the year with my new students.
Ok. I meant that you could keep the tv there with the library. I usually combine my whole group area with my library. Will you still be able to have students sit in your whole group meeting area if there is social distancing?
Maybe you can put your small group/teacher space in between the current math and science boards so you can be near your group space and easily be able to see the whole room!
You just keep bumping grades LOL. How do you do it? I bet you are glad to not have to physically move an entire class. I had to do that this year and its been crazy!
having a wall of windows like that make it awkward for bookcases and extra seating, especially when their really low. if they were a little higher or didn’t take up the entire wall, you could do so much more.
My school has it set up so that they can change things back to normal overnight. Each year group has been assigned a department. My year group(year 10, 9th Grade) has the IT department. All the specialist departments haven't got an assigned year group(so like, DT, languages, music, art) so that GCSE students can use them. Social distancing won't really be a thing, our year group is our bubble, which makes no sense because there's like 200+ students in each year. We've also got a laptop scheme, which gives us poor families get a laptop. We have to pay for it, but it's really cheap. Even cheaper for us because we have been eligible for free school meals within the past 6 years(just). It's probably because there might, or probably will be a second wave and we'll have to shut again. I want to go back to school, but don't at the same time.
Can you switch the bookcases around. It would look nicer if the 3 that were the same size were by each other and the bench against the wall to provide more stable seating?
