I remember watching these while I was in college and dreaming of decorating my own classroom. Now I’m going into my fourth year of teaching and still love watching ❤️
Hi!!! I am a first year, 2nd grade teacher at a Title 1 in Texas!!! I left my 10 year career in the medical field when my youngest started kinder in order to have more time with my family!!! (My hubby is a HS teacher and coach) I started as a para and fell in love with education and felt God calling me into a classroom of my own, so I started my teaching journey through alternative certification. I am so excited for my first year and to see how God is going to use me in and through this new journey!!!! 🎉✏️💜
First off I cannot believe it's been 7 years! I remember when you were getting married and now you've got 3 kids! Second - I am always surprised when teachers are able to set up their rooms right after 4th of July! We don't even get out until June 20 something and then our school has summer school in it, so I don't set up my room until the end of August and am crazy focused to get it all done in a full day (10 hours). Anyone else the same?
@@holly_wood26 wow that’s crazy!! We start school in August 15th. I feel like one day I’ll be able to set it up in one day but with the remodel and constant moving I feel like it always takes forever!
My last year of teaching I got rid of my desk and used my small group table as my “teacher space”. It worked out beautifully because I had a lot more space and all of my stuff was in one place.
It's my first year teaching. I will be teaching kindergarten. I'm planning to head to my classroom tomorrow to start my setup. 😊 Really hoping it goes well.
I have missed you so much, beyond excited for this series...I am starting my 3rd year of Preschool at a new center, an hour away but I am loving it and I am salaried, and never had that before, paid more than my last two positions in preschool. Not super PreK fond but our center is planning to expand in an academy next fall 2025, where I can move age and grade levels...
Love watching your videos!! At my school we run 2 “teacher” classrooms one as the lead and one as a “teaching partner” they are certified teachers and or working to get certification that we sort of train to take on lead roles as they open in our school. With that model everything is mostly run in rotations/small group (guided math/ skills block) and they take on half the kiddos. We love this model at our school but what I was going to really share that could work for you with your aid and space is using your small group table as your desk. We do t have teacher “desk”. Our small group tables are our desks. They are positioned at opposite ends of the space because we tech at the same time and store/organize all our own supplies behind us on shelves or drawers. Could be an idea for you!
Congrats on the new little one! I am back this year after taking a year off. Taught for 9 years and now I am in a new state and learning all the standards for a 4th grade Dual Language position.
I am a middle school treasurer in North Carolina. I just moved offices last week/this week and I totally pre-planned my move. 🤣 I went into my AP's office because she came up to the front office with our new principal, so I took pictures & measurements of her office before the move and really planned out how to lay out the space. I still need to tackle my huge BB after a trip to HL to get backing & border then order a small chair & table since I have the space. I also have a door now so I am excited to decorate that! They need to take down some of the BB in the middle & mount the promethium on the wall. All of ours are mounted and it saves so much space.
I just completed a 3/4 combo this past year! It was tough but manageable & made it through! I only had 5 3rd graders so I relied on my small group table for them it was awesome! I had 23 4th graders though so pretty much could only do whole group which was not ideal. Wish you the best this school year! Love to see these set up videos🥰 looking forward to seeing your 3rd grade content as I chose to teach only 3rd this year 🎉
Was so excited to see a new video from you! Welcome back and how adorable is your baby!! Love 💜 I am a first grade teacher going on my 24th school year! So excited to see your set up videos!!! Great job as always!! Love your thought process and planning!! Thanks as always for sharing!! 😊
Just want to say I have been following you since I was in college to be a teacher. This school year I will be entering my 4th year of teaching! I have loved watching your videos the last several years ❤❤❤
Those big rolly TVs are great but finding a good space for them is such a challenge! Hearing you think through your organization is really helpful, thanks for sharing.
Hi Shelley I started watching you 5 years ago when I first started teaching and preparing for classroom setup. Classroom setup videos are my favorite. ❤
God bless you and your beautiful family! You are such an inspiration for us dedicated teachers who are also mamas! Been watching you for years - so grateful we have you on RU-vid! ❤❤
I will be teaching 2/3 as well here in Alberta, Canada!! This is my second time around for me in my 25 years of teaching. Thanks for such great inspiration!!
Yay! These videos are the best. Welcome back. We missed you! Your baby is adorable and you look great. I LOVE that TV in the new corner. I think the wall looks good without the paper and a big whiteboard would look good and be functional! Can’t wait to keep following along.
I just started teacher's college in April in an accelerated program, but I am SO pumped for classroom setup. I'll be teaching high school Biology but there aren't many setups for that, so I just watch 'em all anyways.
Happy New Year! I haven't got back in my room yet. I hope to on Monday, July 8th. This will probably be my last classroom set-up because I am planning to retire at he end of the year. this year. I love seeing your little one. I hope you have a great year.
Welcome Back! We missed you! Been watching your videos for yearsssssss. Love them. I’m going into my fifth year teaching and fifth classroom. New school and grade as well. Nervous, but excited. Going from middle to high school!😳😎
Shelley! I have been watching you since your first year and I'm starting my 3rd year of teaching now. I teach in the Sac area too and our school is getting remodeled just like yours - it's so interesting to get a preview of what it will look like.
@@EarlyEDventures I am in the Oak Park area! Our school is super old so they are building a brand new one and then tearing ours down. But the models they've shown us look exactly like your room, even the furniture!
I also had an aid this year and just did not have the space to give her her own desk. So I designated one of the small group tables as her personal area and gave her a little file cabinet to keep her stuff in. I just had to do what was best for my classroom. So the other teachers in my school they had aids liked my idea so they did away with their age desk
I was an aid before becoming a teacher and never had my own space. I love that you give aids their own little spot. As a teacher now, I don't have an aid. But if I did, they'd have an area just for them.
When I was younger 2 of my teachers had one of those movie director chairs for rug time/ what you would do for Elmo/TV so like right in between the new whiteboard and tv
Shelley! You’ve got to try connecting your teacher desk and the small group table to make a J shaped “mega desk” as I call it. This layout is a game changer and space saver!!
Yay!!! I always look forward to your videos. Have you thought about not putting the wood paper up where you do your teaching? That way, it can be just your whiteboard and anchor charts. What do you plan to put between the TV and the whiteboard? If nothing, maybe scoot the board over more? All suggestions. 😁 I know rooms look a little different in person.
No, I definitely want the paper on that wall. I hate gray lol. It feels like a conference room. I will probably put anchor charts between the whiteboard and TV or other supplemental resources
Glad you’re back! Curious as to what kind of behavior communication you use for parents. Last year I used a daily calendar with which the kids colored at the end of the day depending on their color on the flip card chart (green, yellow…). Do you use something to communicate daily with parents, or just on an as needed basis?
I only communicate on an as need basis. I have found the longer I taught that a lot of those daily things took up way too much precious time, so I simplified. I also personally don't align with the flip cards/clip chart type behavior management! I have found it to do more harm than good
Since you don’t care for the bright green wall, it would be cool if you could cover that little piece with the greenery. Although the tv might block too much of it. Just an idea!
Your setup videos are THE best! I teach Kinder in Canada and always look forward to your videos. Where do buy your grass wall? Does your school provide the new whiteboard?
I also have one of those large screens and struggle with figuring out with doc camera with enough space to still interact! I will be very interested in your further ideas with this!
Hi. So glad to see you! Your daughter is so cute. Your room is small. Would you consider eliminating your teacher desk and your kidney table could do double duty. One less piece of furniture. I did this 2 years ago and was hesitant, so I kept my desk in storage in case I needed it back. It worked out and I haven’t missed the desk. Flipping the tv was great.
I have tried it in the past and I hated it. I like having a separate space of my own. Also the room isn't that small I think my wide camera lens makes it look smaller than it is!
I removed my teacher desk and use the kidney table as my desk. I have the same drawer system you have behind me and it keeps all my supplies organized.
I've tried this but I did not like it. I like having my own space, and I need a table to put my document camera on anyway. I can't put it on the small group table because it would take up way too much space
I was really nervous when people keep saying teachers are broke and don’t get paid well; the area I live in PA start you off at $61,000 which I don’t think is that bad!
Congratulations, she is adorable ❤ Why are pre- setting up now ? Since us (teachers) are on summer break now? Love your videos and so I'm still watching though😊
@@EarlyEDventures Thanks , I understand. After getting out on June 4th, doing some summer PDs, I'm trying to not think about my classroom (janitors are shampooing now anyway). Thanks again for sharing your classroom ideas and process! This school year will be my 31st year of teaching and I use your tips. 😍 I love your positive attitude
“For those of you who have been here for the last 7 years…” Me: I’ve been watching since then, and I was in between my 7th and 8th grade year and now I’m almost 21 lol
@EarlyEDventures I think it's crazy you have to buy it yourself! I work in a small catholic school and nothing comes out of our own pocket. I have bought small things here and there, but bigger purchases are made by the school.
