I'm only an 8th grader with a dream to be a 3rd grade teacher. I've had that dream since I was very young, and you make me wanna be a teacher so bad, because it looks so fun. But it also looks very stressful planning lesson and everything but. Thank you for being so amazing you inspire me everyday
Same! Except I’m in 6th going to 7th... when and if I become a teacher I want to have flexible seating like this because I think everyone had that one friend in 3rd grade that you were jealous of because of there classroom seating. 😂
You make it look so easy lol, you are doing great. Also idk if you read these but I had this idea for the pencils. Put different kind of Washi tape on each of the pencils for each kid, like just at the bottom by the eraser and put the same kind of washi tape on the toothbrush container.
She’s a great teacher I always had horrible mean and strict teachers with no decorations in the room or anything her students are so lucky I bet they are probably fighting to be in her classroom
I love your channel so much. Even though I am going in 5th grade, this channel makes me want to reorganizing my room. Also as soon as u posted this I clicked on it so fast.
You seem like such an amazing teacher 😁 I wish every teacher had the compassion and ability to care about how comfortable the students are during the day. I remember being in school and sitting in the same hard chair was awful and boring. I hope more and more teachers jump on to flexible seating
I love the setup, and third grade has always been my favorite. MY 3rd grade teacher looked just like u Thank u so much for spending all that time setting up and happy and wonderful place 👩🏫
wow! I love your set up! SO welcoming and with home vibes!! I would love to have my classroom like this... but once I'm tenured.... I love your classroom and it's amazing! I'm sure your students love it and that's what matters at the end of the day!
I love your setup! I want to implement some flexible seating after I start teaching so your videos have been super helpful to stay mindful of furniture placement.
This channel relaxes me so much. I’m going into my Junior year of high school and I’m taking 4 AP classes which means tons of summer work while balancing soccer is hard. Watching you organize helps me while working. So thx I wish I had you as a 3rd grade teacher.
felt this comment so hard lol. im also going into junior year and while i should probably be working on my AP lang project, im up at 130am watching a teacher organize her classroom 😂🤦🏻♀️
Luckily my 3’rd grade teacher had beautiful flexible seating, though 2 or 3 options per class are required by my school (My mom used to teach at my school, and said they were given a budget for this stuff), every table had 2 or 3 different options. Loved my teacher.
I’ve followed up with all three videos of this series and I just want to say thank you for creating such a great environment for children. It’s crucial for kids to have a great working area, so they can enjoy school !
I love using magic erasers for wiping away marker. It comes off so well. I laminate my bulletin board pieces, use permanent marker for the names, and then I use magic eraser to get it off. It works like magic and they are cheap.
In the beginning of video I thought you were sitting on a floating shelf...it was the stage lol. I wish more teachers would have flexible seating. Your room looks awesome. Have a great year. Thank you for being a hero to all the kids.
I’m going into my first year at uni for architecture, and although I don’t want to be a teacher, your videos always inspire me a lot! You put so much effort with the flexible seating, making kids comfortable and decorating your classroom. It would have been amazing to have teachers like you when I was younger :) Good luck with the first back to school days!!
I think it does look cluttered but well organised and cosy, you have limited space for a large number and i think you made great use of the space and it looks inviting, so many areas to explore, I personally think lots of empty space is nice but kinda wasted so love what you did i still think a table area in the library would be a great quiet work area but i love what you did. And i love the front of the room now you added those black chairs, its like a little theatre space x
I was just going to comment to never apologize for how you love your setup but a few sentences later you handled yo’ business! Good for you. Cute room!
I’ve used the flip books for parents. Yes you have to cut each square/page out individually, then staple pages together. Try leaving the top empty space on each page.
I just watched the part of your video where you said others made comments about your classroom looking crowded. And I have to say...WOW! How rude of them! I also work in a very small classroom. I teach 4K (full day 4 year-olds) in a play-based classroom. I am expected to have a dramatic play area, sensory table, art center, science center, construction center, library, listening center, etc. plus a whole group area, a place to eat snack, etc. This is extremely difficult to do in a small space!!! I applaud you for taking on flexible seating and keeping your students at the center of your mind when setting up. You go girl!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I should probably just ignore it, but it's been bothering me LOL. The kids are at the forefront of all my decisions, so it's annoying when people make rude comments haha. Thank you!!
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but a Mr. Clean magic eraser will clean off the laminated sheets no matter what is on them. Dry erase comes off with no color residue left. It’s “magic” lol. It will also remove permanent marker too with a little more elbow grease. Probably too late for this set, but for future... I use them all the time. Dry or wet for stuff left on for a long time.
Would you/have you ever taught older grades? I'm going into 8th and I'm obsessed with organising and interior design, so you can imagine how satisfying these videos are for me. I love your style in design and teaching and you seem so sweet. Good luck this year!
Your classroom is awesome!! I'm going into middle school, but school doesn't start until September 3rd. Edit: I don’t know when I get out. I got out 2 days late last year because we had 2 snow days. The thing about the Chicago Public Schools District is that we have to have a certain number of days a year and when we have a day off that’s not planned (Like snow days) we have to add one day to the end of the year to replenish the day that we missed.
Actually, no! My school provided a lot of this. I also got a few Donor's Choose projects funded. The items I purchase on my own are from Facebook Marketplace and yard sales!
Can we just talk about how good she would be as a teacher. I am going into my senior year and I have never had a teacher put so much effort into the setup of the classroom. If only I could have been in your third grade class.
I love your videos! I’m actually starting my first semester of college in a few weeks and I’m majoring in elementary education so watching your videos makes me super excited!
QR code idea is fantastic. I may borrow it if I can get organized enough to make a list of the videos I use. I like to buy the magnets for business cards and then cut them to the size I need. They are thinner.
For your multiplication numbers that students write on for mastery, if you don’t want to throw away next time, try coloring over the expo marker with a black expo. It’s amazing how black expo takes it right off!
Hi...I hope you see this. I’m in college at the moment, my third year actually and lately I’ve been going through a hard time trying to figure out what I want to be. I’ve always gone between wanting to be a midwife or a teacher. But you are truly inspiring me to become a teacher.
I’m a second grade teacher going full flexible seating this year! I would love to see a video dedicated to your management with flexible seating. Love your videos!
I posted one about this recently! It's titled 4 tips for starting flexible seating and I go over my rules :) Good luck this year with flexible seating! If you need anything, reach out :) Thank you for the support!
I see you havea little library so what you should get is something called a reading rocket, it's like a little rocket with a seat in it to read, my teacher had that in 1st grade
Where can I find those poster with the cactus on your bulletin board by your desk? My classroom theme is cactuses I'd love to use those on a bulletin board!
I live in Wisconsin and our school bought us a speaker with a little microphone set that you wear around your neck and your classroom seems really big. I thought you could recommend it to the school board or something to buy so the kids in the back would be able to hear you better and you just turn it off for when you work with groups at the back table
I am going into sixth grade in months, and I think that my favorite teachers were the ones that made school feel like home. Make the kids feel like schoolwork is what they chose to do. Also, candy is never a bad decision. Since your kids should be a little on the older side, maybe mints would be better with allergies. I suggest strawberry duo mints. Everybody envies the teachers who give mints. Hope this helps!
I'm going into 8th grade but I want to be a teacher when I grow up bc you make it look so fun!!! I've been waiting for this video and am so glad it's out!!! 😁
I grew up in a Montessori classroom which was all about the concept of "flex seating" but it isn't called that, I believe it is because Montessori was created before this concept? I don't know if flex seating also includes a different way of teaching but in Montessori classrooms you have quick small lessons throughout the week and then the rest oft the time you are allowed to move around to where ever you want in the classroom as you complete your work throughout the week. I learned more quickly this way and was excited to learn because i wasn't stuck in one chair for 8 hours a day. Anyways I enjoyed choosing my own place to sit and I am beyond thrilled that traditional schools are starting to see all the benefits of this "flex seating" concept.
How do you go about students choosing where to sit each day? I have done flexible seating for quite a few years and have tried various systems. Just looking for ideas... Thanks!
I love your beautiful classroom! If I ever go back to upper grades, I will for sure be rewatching. I also wanted to mention, don't forget about your parents who don't have iPhones! I know at least with my Android phone, I have to have my QR Reader installed to scan QR codes. The camera alone won't read it.
