Classroom Setup Day Five // First Year, Second Grade Teacher 

I just found these videos and can’t help but think about how hectic your first year has been. First being told you get your own class with just a few days to set up everything and then the COVID-19 outbreak. I hope you’re doing well and that you have been able to manage all the craziness. Good news is that, if you survived this year, you can push through absolutely anything. I’ll be praying for you.

I wish I was here to comment earlier, but I just stumbled upon your videos! Love them so much! My best tip I learned from student teaching was to laminate everything first, THEN use sharpie. You can take sharpie off lamination with Magic Erasers! I have been able to use my same name tags and posters for 3 years now doing that trick! Or laminate and use vis-a-vis wet erase markers if it won’t get touched and you can just wipe it off with a wet rag when you need to switch it up. I tried using wet erase markers on name tags once and everyone’s sweaty hands snugged them up pretty fast 😂 so excited for you and your journey! If you can get you classroom set up and survive this craziness this year, just imagine how amazing next year will feel!

I know you mentioned book bins in another video and I got mine on Dollar Tree's website! They come in cases of 24 and they have held up with my 4th graders all year!

Order books from scholastic to get points for more books 😉

Just found your set up and Im in Houston too. I would suggest you apply for Teacher Aide through the Houston Food Bank. If your school qualifies at Title I you can go there an "shop" twice a quarter. Eases the pinch of getting materials for your class the school is not providing.check it out.
