Similar question as others, if you had 100k today to put into the market (or any number really) would you divide that by 10 and put that portion into each of the top 10 stocks you list in this video at the 15:14 mark? Investing in individual stocks is usually best left up to experienced professionals. If you notice in the video he has 90 positions in there. The top 10 make up 36%. If you want a really solid approach without having to do hours and hours of research then I suggest a simple strategy. Buy low cost ETF's which is basically a basket of stocks that are tied to an easy to understand index. Some people like to go really simple with just 3. One broad based like SPY/VOO for a third, one growth based like SCHG/VUG for a third, and one for dividend growth and income like SCHD/VIG. Over a long time horizon like 10 to 40 years with regular investments and rebalancing about once a year it's a pretty bullet proof strategy. Personally I do something similar that's more growth oriented. So I buy SCHD & JEPI for dividend growth and income as one third, and two thirds in VGT/SOXX. I do this because I believe that artificial intelligence will be like the internet was in the 90's or the iphone was in the mid 2000's. Do your own research, and don't follow advice from people you don't trust.
Hi Glen, being a conservative investor, I would want my portfolio to include more than 10 holdings, and because the list changes each week, spreading it out over more weeks would mean a more diversified portfolio. If it were me (and everyone has different risk tolerances), I would invest the $100k over 6 months (which is 26 weeks ... $100k divided by 26 weeks is $3846). So in week 1, I would invest $3846 into the 10 stocks that week, $3846 into the next week's 10 stocks, etc. Since the list usually changes each week, you would get a broader selection of stocks (and sectors and sub-industries) that way. Anyway, that's just one suggestion.
Hi, if it were me, I would not try to match our current portfolio holdings as some of those might be on the verge of being sold. Instead I would start by buying the 10 stocks each week and gradually building up your portfolio from there.
Yes, it's in our spreadsheet as a candidate. With a 3.75% yield, but with a 5-year dividend growth rate of only 5.6%, it's a better candidate for our High-Yield Portfolio than the main Dividend Growth Portfolio featured in our video.
