"A Piece of String" (The Radio Reader's Digest) aired on October 30, 1947, on CBS. This short story by Guy de Maupassant (about the unfair accusations made against a poor Frenchman) became regarded as Rains' radio signature piece. Stars: Claude Rains, Alan Hewitt, Tom Shirley, Les Tremayne, and Lyn Murray.

TY so much for the upload, a great episode with Claude Rains, one of my favorite actors. I made a wry smile, 'that fine American actor' Claude Rains was born in England as you well know. :-)

It's so refreshing to hear the Queen's English being spoken again. We've lost that here in London, but Mr Rains inspires me to bring it back!

I could have done without the Hallmark patter with Mr Rains, who was born in England! Thank you for sharing this. If I can’t see his face, Mr Rains voice is equally handsome. Such a phenomenal actor and story teller.
