I’ve always wanted to visit here, but this video definitely confirmed that I’m too claustrophobic to do this particular tour. Loved the deer! Thanks for taking us along.
I love Mammoth Cave. We’ve done all the tours except the spelunking tour. We used to live in Kentucky back in the day and we used to also visit Guntown Mountain which was right down the road. I miss those places.
Hello again from rural New Hampshire. Thank you for bringing my wonderful memories back of Mammoth Cave and Kentucky. My friend and I fished, Green River. Thank you, peace and be safe.
I watched a movie with my husband the other night called , " As Above So Below " . Just watching that movie made me feel claustrophobic . When I was younger it didn't bother me , but now I don't think I could walk through a cave . Just watching you Jacob made me take a few breaths . LOL!! I have never seen a car ferry just for a flooded road before and I've never seen water in a carton . You learn something new everyday . Thanks Jacob for another great video !! Oh and BTW I love watching Kristy's campfire live stream. She's so sweet !! Hope you all have great 4th of July !!!!
Went to Mammoth Cave last year with a coworker when we were in the area... I LOVED it. I think the biggest thing you have to take into consideration is that everything was created by nature's hands. Other than the Saltpeter mine, and few remnants of bygone human activity, it's truly a wonder to behold when you realize that it took millions of years to be carved out.
Enjoyed this very much. Interesting to see how many places are closed... kind of sad really to see that no one cares about nostalgic places.... the world changes too much, and not always for the better!
I'm glad you finally did Mammoth Cave. The other Mammoth Cave tours are totally different from each other. I did the four hour Grand Avenue tour with my six year old a couple of weeks ago. You get to see the two bathrooms, the snowball dining room, and the elevator. Any of the tours where you see the frozen niagra are pretty spectacular.
my heart raced as it got more narrow (super claustrophobic) but that's why i'm grateful for your videos! thanks for going to awesome places like this that i don't think i could go see myself 😊 great video jacob!
I remember going to mammoth cave when I was little. My oldest brother was 13 years older than me. He held me over the endless pit thinking it was funny! Scared the holy shit out of me! That had to have been in the early 70s. I can't remember anything else about the cave!
Very nice. I went to Mammoth Cave as a kid back in the mid 70's on a family vacation. I wouldn't go back because I am very claustrophobic now as an adult. I've also been across the Valley View ferry just outside of Lexington, KY and yes, it's a weird thing because you are stopped in your car, but the scenery starts moving. I've lived in Central KY for 53 years. Thanks for making a video about our beautiful land.
Me and a couple of friends did the historic tour about a month ago. My first time there, though I've lived about an hour away for the past 25 yrs.. only part I didn't like was climbing the firetower steps at the end of the cave tour, due to acrophobia. Looking forward to going back to some of the other tourist traps in cave city.
Fantastic caves! Only thing that spooked me is that "No guns allowed" sign. No a sight we see in England. Love that CB is so caring bout the animals - only what we expect from kind Jacob. Lovely lush green country. Mrs JM xxx
Mammoth Cave is not for the fluffy! Especially the section that's called fat man's misery. My husband got me to go down there even though I thought it was on the New Madrid fault line. He told me no, but it was! That staircase was as tall as a forest ranger's tower.
We enjoyed the cave. We did maybe four tours. My favorite was the lantern tour. We carried lanterns and they would tell spocky story's . I bought a book with ghost stories from the cave and read it to the kids in bed. They loved it. We also went horse back riding and went to some cemeterys that were old.
I love caves and that kind of thing. We toured Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City last weekend. I'm hoping to take the family to Carlsbad Caverns next month.
Cool. I have no idea where your going in Cave City ! lol Can't wait to see what you see. They sure did change the looks of Huckleberry Hills. I had a lot of clean up to do here. We got hit by 80 mile per hour winds on Thursday night.
After you crossed the ferry, you keep going. Follow the signs to the “horse camping area”. 2 left turns to go past the horse camp. Then the the road turns to gravel and winds through the woods of Mammoth Cave. It takes you to the second ferry across the Green River (also free), past the high school and dead ends into a Dairy Queen! Turn left to get back to park entrance/interstate. You missed it! Do not miss Kentucky Down Under
Have you ever been on the Lost Sea Adventure glass bottom boat tour? I went on a field trip there in the 70s and it was the coolest thing ever! Oh yeah, it's in Sweetwater Tn.
Wow... I have to say the audio pickup ability of that camera is rather impressive; I could hear every word the guide was saying even in the cave, which is hardly the ideal acoustic environment... pretty dark, though; couldn't see much. Still looks like fun, though. 👍 Bands used to advertise with graffiti in 1855?! That's actually pretty interesting, particularly as graffiti is generally thought of as a modern phenomenon... Aw, the deer nursing in the road! I love deer; they're my favorite animal. That was so sweet! ❤️ You think that ferry felt strange? Try the Englishtown Ferry here; that thing ROCKS something fierce, particularly on a windy day... That Outlaw Tours van looked genuinely dilapidated... the rear tire looks a little flat... 😬 Whoa... cloudburst...
Hi Jacob, Yes Raven's Cross Haunted Village is a seasonal haunt, we are open the last weekend of Sept and every weekend in October. Do come back for a visit!
Awesome! We hope to see you this fall. Raven's Cross Haunted Village is themed in the 1300's during the time of the Black Death. We have an amazing team of actors that will take you through the time period. Also, we will be opening our first Escape Room in 2 weeks, just in time for Labor day weekend. Come see us now.
Another great video Jacob! Made me a little happy for a bit, because my mom lives less than 15 minutes from the main entrance and it brought back a lot of memories! Thank you Sir!! I cannot believe how many places have closed in Cave City! Was it because of weather or was it permanent closures? Between you and Adam the Woo, my wife and I are planning our around the country trip and which attractions to see!
It kind of looks like the road washed out a long time ago, and for some reason they decided the car ferry was cheaper than building a bridge. That has to be the easiest yet most boring job ever.
Oh my lanta! I love caves but that’d send me into a bad panic attack! I can’t do crowds NOR tight spaces! If I feel I can’t escape then I freak... I’m glad you were okay though! And thank you for sharing. This was quite interesting!
Family day trips, school field trips and church outings took me to Mammoth Cave so many times as a youth and young adult that I felt like I could lead a group on the historic tour just as well as any of the paid guides. The first time I went through Fat Man's Misery I was a skinny kid. The last time I was a "mature' adult and had to go through sideways. The rocks are highly polished on either side of that path and I think I added to the shine my last time through. lol
Oh.. wow. I live in Glasgow,ky. I'm like 20 min from there lol. It's a beautiful park. That's my go to place to just spend the day and relax. A lot of trails to walk. It's so pretty especially during the fall! But they have a tour that goes a quarter of mile in its like 5 bucks. They other tours that last like 6 hrs and that's intermediate tho. But the cave stays cool yr round. Also, you can see all the deer and turkeys. I recommend anyone who is in the area to go to mammoth cave. 😊❤
You should have went to the dinosaur park down the road from there it was amazingly fun! Also, when we were there last there were some teepee hotel things which looked pretty cool. We are going to go back one day and check those out.
I’ve been in a mine, and I am very claustrophobic. I’m much worse about anything having to do with heights lol. This video made me start thinking about the movie My Bloody Valentine, but you don’t really watch movies, so you were probably fine. Lol
Jacob, you are only a stone's throw away! You need to come to Paducah KY aka Quilt City USA (Yes it even has a festival and a museum, and we are only about 15 minuets from Metropolis IL, The home of Superman!
There's no stalagmites or stalagtites until you get to the end of the 5 mile tour. I'd rather go to Meremec Caverns or Onondoga Cave in Missouri. Tons of cool formations.
I know it sounds crazy but I think it would be a great story for your chanel it's about central Kentucky and Elijah Craig's place at royalSprings about a half mile from my front door ..sorry not trying to come off as creepy but this is a great chance to be the first to put this story out to the rest of the world ..
Uh I’m sure u seen but in general area there is corvette museum an Australia Zoo. Lincoln birthplace. - fantastic and boyhood home. That cool go to mammoth
I am curious about something and I do not intend for this to be a mean spirited question. If a morbidly obese person had intentions of taking the tour, would a staff member perhaps take them aside and tactfully recommend that this excursion might not be for them?
