When storing your mitt use a small thin plastic box and use pizza tables to hold it down. The little plastic things that come with pizzas to keep the top of the box from touching the pizza.
i don't think its understood exactly why you need to use it... yes it removes stuff off the paint ... people think well so does any brush or pad ... but it does it better and with the sprays often adds shine to it ... but gets it ready for the next step of work... i think most people think about washing a car is all thats needed ... they aren't trying to detail it
Never done clay bar, was too afraid to try it. I got a clay mitt and it’s so scary at first because you feel like you’re scratching it but then over a short period it stops making the scratch noise and it goes waaaaaaaaay faster than a clay bar

I feel I get better results with a clay bar and storing those clay mitts in a hot vehicle is very difficult to get it to not stick to storage surfaces and the clay mitt will fail and leave that black synthetic clay material on the paint surface.
I use both. But for clay I only use 3M Perfect-It cleaner clay 38070 or Meguiars Mirror glaze professional Detailers clay. For wash jobs if I want to smooth the body out some I use a mitt
On topic, I find the clay bar a more accurate and tool over the clay mitt and clay cloth. It gets into more detailed areas such as in grilles and around the rockers. Having said that, i will use a clay cloth if it is a fairly flat large curved panelled vehicle. I haven't tried the mitt yet.
I use both. The mitt is fast and easy but traditional clay is so much more effective. I find a mitt can't even remove those yellow pollen spots that fall on cars.
Its easier to scratch the car with a clay mitt because must contaminants stay at the top of the mitt compared to a bar where contaminants go deep inside the bar!
I use a clay towel from nanoskin and it does a great job tbh. I only use on my cars.. not a detailer. Saves time and it’s re-usable. If you can finish in half the time, and it looks just as good, why not? 🤷🏻♂️
Idk man. The real test would be..using a clay mit before a paint correction or machine polish. If your pads get dirty then its not doing its job. I've heard another detailer say they prefer clay over mitt.
Regardless the pad will get dirty because you’re remove surface imperfections beyond what an actual clay bar can remove . EX. Peeling clear coat, marred surface , paint oxidation .
Usually a clay mit fan but there are times like right now I am working on a truck that got hit by overspray from his neighbor having his roof repainted and the mit really wasn't taking the over-spray off but purple clay bar has been doing a quicker and better job in this situation. Do love the mit though for normal clay treatment.
Tried two different mitt, same results : swirls land ! I'm detailing for 5 years and cannot explain this. Either way i'm using it wrong (clean car, clean water and a lot of soap, low pressure applied) either the mitts were low quality or even it's just junk (or a combination of these...) I'm clay all the way !
I don't believe there is a way to prevent micro scratches completely with any form of mechanical decontamination. any time I use it, I follow it up with a polish or compound/polish step.
I wish I had a positive experience with my fine grade mitt. After breaking it in, it failed to remove contamination that a traditional clay bar made easy work of. Really disappointed due to the cost, which is why I am returning mine.
Fu. Ing mitt is black so you can't see much in terms of if you have perfectly cleaned car. Black colour was most likely chosen to hide mitt ineffectiveness
When using the clay mitt how long can you use it on a car before removing the debris from it and also do you rinse it off to remove the debris or is there a special way to remove the debris before continuing?

Best clay lube in your honest opinion at different price points. From $ to $$$. Or do they all perform more or less the same. Can you use a quick detailer as a clay lube?
I used a Klaren clay mitt and for some strange reason it got stuck on my windshield 2 times after I rinsed it there were two rubber stains from the Mitt any answers?
what were you using as the medium for the lube to use for the clay? also whenever i clay i find that the paint becomes cloudy and needs a polish with a buffer. for that reason its not good to clay too often correct?
A clay bar is a mild abrasive. as it picks up particles it can rub them into the clear coat even after kneading. generally after clay barring the paint, you may end up with marring which is the haziness you are referring to. polishing is a follow up step to using clay. you can safely clay bar the paint as often as you would like but it is best saved for a car that has embedded contaminants or bug splatters that can't be removed with chemicals. I will usually use clay on my car once or twice per year. a ceramic coating will reduce the need to clay the car as often.
No problem brother. I have the revivify self healing coating on my black mustang. even with proper care and regular washing you will find the surface becomes gritty over time especially if it's not garage kept. it cleans up nicely but it is due for clay in the near future. after the swirls get to the point of being unsightly it will be polished and coated again. word of advice don't buy a black car if you are a perfectionist.
@@PearlDrummerFTW haha, oh trust me, i know! black cars are a nightmare, even the thought of pollen sticking to it after a maintenence wash makes me go crazy! When you polish the cermaic coating, it doesnt' completely come off right? Or do you purposely 2 stage correct it to get it all off before applying a new coating?
@@dezcanso1540 once it's polished most of the coatings properties have been removed. I have never had to compound to remove a coating before only heavy swirls.
Completely unrelated to this video, but I want to start mobile interior detailing, and I am confused on if you use the power source at the clients house, or bring a generator of some sort for the vacuum, and if I need a contract or something In case a customer tries to say I ruined something in their car that was already there before I began.
I recommend getting a go pro and go over the car thoroughly but quickly to assure that the damage was there before. If not attatch the GoPro to you’re chest and save the videos 🤷🏻♂️ best of luck !
