Bat pin bolt head size is 4.5mm. The legs are 5mm. Hope this helps others!

hi! my bats are allll wobbling even though they are brand new, im using a bat buddy, and i have purchased bats from 3 different stores now. I have hand tightened my pins as firmly as i can but there is a wobble once each bat is on the wheel head. I have never had this issue in class and im getting so frustrated. any ideas?

@@marykateburke4954 Hi, I'm not sure how youtube is sending me these comments, but I saw this one last. OK, so I have been using the bate mate as I mentioned. I noticed that the plastic one work best on it. I do have some wooden ones, but I feel like they are warped anyway. I also know that you have to be careful to make sure that the pins are clean, and that the back of the bat does not have any dry bits too. Those are a few things that I have noticed as issues creating wobble...

I think it is better to throw straight onto the wheel head.

It's a rubberized wheel head so not sure how that would be? I use a bat and a bate mate personally. Thanks for the comment. Hope the video was helpful?

yours is actually doing the same wobbling thing that mine does. I can't stand it. I find it nearly impossible to center anything when the bat is throwing yours hands around. again, I never have this issue with the wheels i use in class. has this issue persisted for you?

I have a "bat mate", and it has eliminated that problem. A bat mate is a piece of thickish microfiber stuff that levels out the bat, so it doesn't wobble.

I really like this wheel, and I've been having good success with it so far!

Thanks for the video Doug! The music you chose was gorgeous. I just found an older used Clayboss on craigslist for $500 and I'm considering whether or not it's worth it. It's either between that one or an even older kick wheel with an added electric motor for $125. How are you liking your clay boss now that it's been about a year?

I really like my clay boss. It has been working really well. I got a giffin grip for trimming, and it works with that. But as everyone says on all wheels, the clay scraps go everywhere. I like that the boss has the extra part at the top at the splash pan, I use that for my dirty tools. I also think that if something went wrong with it, that it would be easy to work on.

Thankyou so very much for the review, but um, in my opinion, it's sooo pricy, I mean $999 in some websites, the minimum......this wheel as I saw must be great for long term and permanent hobby, but it's very hard to catch up if you have ambition to make pots but are an average person willing to try pottery for the first time

Yes, it is pricier than it used to be, but everything has gone up. If you check out other name brands, it is much cheaper though. I would suggest taking a pottery class or two before you make the jump into buying one for yourself. It is a commitment.

I currently work at a production pottery shop. The owner has a Clay Boss as one of her wheels in the student class. She recommended it to me when I asked her for wheel purchasing advice. She has had the Clay Boss for 8 years now and has not had one issue. She said it still works very well. Hope this helps!

@@tressatrotta3719 Thanks for the information. I hope it will help others. So far, I am loving mine. working out great! I particularly like the extra room at the from of the splash pan. Good for holding messy tools.

Is the wheel head plastic?
@douglloyd527
@douglloyd527 Год назад
No, actually it is metal with a rubber coating. It's pretty heavy duty, but the "rubber" coating is nice too.

@@douglloyd527 can i throw directly on the wheel head? i have heard it will tear up your hands with this model.
@douglloyd527
@douglloyd527 Год назад
@@marykateburke4954 I don't think it would be something you would want to do all the time. It is rubberized. So it would probably not be good for it, or for you? But you could alway just use a bat, and just reuse the same bat, every time?
