I'm using Abeka for phonics (k-2). Looking at CLE math, l.a and possibly reading. The lessons look long. Have your children done all the three subjects ( math, l.a and reading) with CLE at one time and not felt overwhelmed with the work load?
I can’t say for sure. Norah did reading and language arts grade 2 and it was fine for her but they are so similar. I think one is great by itself. If you can do both it would probably be a benefit but the two are so similar. It’s as if they both have spelling words and phonics and all that built in so it’s your call.
Thank you! Good to know. I guess If it's too long I can always cross out problems until they get used to the curriculum. I love how CLE teachers manuals are not so wordy. It's short and sweet and to the point. Thanks again for the reviews and flip throughs.
This was VERY helpful. We currently use Abeka but I am considering switching to CLE since it is self-guided. I like Abeka but my daughter is getting bored with the Abeka videos. You stated that Abeka's spelling words might be more challenging. What about the curriculim overall? Is CLE on the same level as far as a challenge or somewhat behind?
I think Abeka and Cle are the same after grade 1 with grammar and spelling. I think Abeka and Cle don’t push writing as much as bju press does in the younger grades. Like bju press does one chapter grammar. One chapter spelling. Back and forth beginning in grade 2 I believe. Abeka and Cle are similar in many ways. I think cle spelling is good.
I don’t know. Maybe look through my other grade flip through to see how they start off and when they do so you see. It comes in more gently than Abeka in my opinion. Pentime is another great option off milestone books website. They have the child trace inside the letters. I may do a flip through soon if pentime cursive and Cle languages arts grade 1 so folks can see the inside. I have a grade 2 Cle video of language arts that you can check out to see the cursive in there.
@@driftingforward I don’t know how to do that. Lol. I don’t even know how to edit videos right now. Haha. But the videos have title saying Cle or Christian light so that makes it easy.
Great question, I wondered about that myself. I think having kids read good books, while you point out the use of the parts of speech, grammar and punctuation goes a long way. My 3rd grade granddaughter knows spelling not from rules, but by recognizing the words from lots of reading.
@@thewordrules Yeah whatever works for each family is best! You dont even have to have curriculum. I just started with their reading and bought other items from them.
