hi there Sue! Im 25 and just started collecting dolls. Wanted to say thank you for having your channel! Seriously its a life saver and it's really nice to see an adult into this kind of thing. My mom and I have been bonding over these dolls while i hunt for hers (and my) favorites and I feel like I have you to thank for being so fun and positive here on your channel. Please keep up the good work. Have an awesome day.
Thanks s much Sue!! I love when you freshen up older Barbies and make them so pretty again. Can't get enough. I could watch you do that every day. :). :)
What I find cute about her outfit is that it's a two piece. You can probably add different tops or skirts and turn the formal outfit into maybe a day outfit or even a clubbing 80's outfit. Maybe a jean skirt or a white or red pencil skirt add a black belt and maybe take some heart printed ribbon and make her a head band to compliment the sleeves. Then with the skirt a solid red top long sleeve, short or just strap style. Give her a gold belt similar to red flares gold belt and you got a whole new formal dress.
Gotta say, though, I loved shoulder pads when I was 18 to 24 (1983 to 1989).😆 Shoulder pads in my bolero blazers and in my dresses made me feel powerful ... and taller. Ha-ha!
She looks really pretty and i love the puffy sleeves 🥰I hated those shoulder pads too lol and i took them out too ! Thanks for a great video and making me smile 😊Have a wonderful day !❤
The doll looks great! Nice work! I have switched to only collecting the 60"s unless I see something I love in the collector lines. As for shoulder pads...I also hate them and cut them out oif anything and everything!! As always, I appreciate your videos!
I remember this barbie, a classmate of my sister had her abd this white and red heart dot dress it's unforgettable. Btw u did an excellent job with her! Everything came out like new! If I'm not wrong her shoes are red sandals and adorable her panties, so cute! 🥰
Hi again!! Almost all my Barbies have come from thrift shops!! I love them!! The one of with real eyelashes I previously found, is a FAO Swartz Hollywood Doll w ring, earrings n necklace, sadly no shoes. I paid $3!!!!( I splurged that day..🤣🤣)
Hi Sue, I just love all of your Barbie's. Can you believe I have yet to get through all of my old dolls, and their 60's, 70's, and 80's clothes? I've been busy cleaning my dolls, and clothes. Do you know how to fix a 70's Barbie with very tangled hair? I would like to see you do a video on how to clean their hair if you would. Have a wonderful weekend. I bet you find some time to go thrifting. ❤
It does take a lot of time to go through them, I am sorting some clone outfits right now. I use a good hair conditioner and comb it out under running water. I don't have any with very tangled hair. But the worse ones I have gotten Tresemme usually works.
@@BarbieLove , it's the 60's and 70's dolls that have the tangled hair. I soaked on doll's head in water with conditioner for 5 days, and it only made it worse. Just when I thought she was ruined, I placed her head in a Ziploc baggie, then in boiling hot water for about 4 minutes while turning her head around to make sure all of her hair was in the water. She came out okay, but still had some tangles from the curls that were originally in her hair style. Now she's drying out with a tiny rubber band around her head as I've seen you do. Next I will try to place curls back all over her head. Wish me luck! ❤
Yes! Thank you! I use different things. Some products work differently on different types of hair. But I do use it for clothes to give them a nice smell!!
I wasn't really a collector until recent years, since Mattel started with all the unique face molds on the Fashionistas (yes, I'm one of those people that does the body swaps...). Some of them are just too cute or pretty to suffer through the basic articulation. B U T I did just this week get my hands on a 1963 Barbie and Midge pair someone was selling off, and I'll be restoring them after New Year's. They're in much better condition than the photos led me to believe, but Barbie does have that famous green stain around one of her ears. I think between you and Doe Deer I'm pretty set for the project, though. Thanks for the clothing tip!
Good luck with your restoration. Green ear, yuck!! It can be difficult and time consuming. I was not pleased with the Removzit I ordered. I shall try the CLR soon.
Girl!! Share some of those Cheetos won't ya!!! Mini Mod admired your Vintage Barbie bath tub!!! Now...that Barbie does look better with her hair down!! A bath always makes ya feel better. Barbie must be fellin good!!. Lookin good Barbie!! Mod Girl
That Fabric does get bad wrinkles. I do use an iron with steam. But not too hot. It is easy to burn. You can also put a wash cloth between the dress and iron. Start very low heating on the iron. I actually just ironed one of those dresses. It does help
@@BarbieLove Thank you for answering my question! I will try that for sure. I just want to say that I am a new collector of vintage Barbie. I started watching your videos when I got my first 1977 Superstar Barbie. You do a great job! Love your videos!
HiSue! I’ve received a Artic 80s barbie doll what has a dusty old smell because it’s been up in the attic for several year! She is wearing a outfit with faux fur on it should I still wash it in oxy clean and vinegar!? Other issue is her hair which is greasy, which is strange because doll from 81s as much as I know shouldn’t have a greasy hair syndrome due to glue leaking so maybe it came from a smoky home or smth. Doll was in the box but a bit open and she was wearing a hood so don’t know really why the hair is at this stage. Can you help me please 😢
You can give the doll a bath and wash her hair. If they smell rally musty. Sometimes I lather them up and let them sit a few days. Relathering when they dry out. Also a dunk in some bleach water. Then sit them in the sun. She may still smell. But it will be less and eventually go away. 80’s clothes rarely need vinager. They don’t fade like 69’s. Just hand wash it. Use oxy if it’s stained. Fabric softener soak if it smells. And it probably does. These smell can be hard to fade away, but in time it should go away. Once you have given it a good cleaning. Let me know how it goes. Also try spraying some Lysol on them after cleaning. Thanks 🥰
My 1983 aa crystal barbie has a metal snap on her dress and so does my Barbie as the sugar plum fairy I know they did use metal snaps on a few others up until 1997 I think and I know my 2009 holiday barbie has metal snaps too
