I'm not very good at modelling because I'm an animator, but I'm trying to get better. You are precise, quick but not too quick AND you dont drone on for minutes at a time! You're really good at teaching! I'll be subscribing! :D
If anyone has access to Zbrush I would highly recommend simply using booleans to your hearts content and Dynamesh in Zbrush. If your looking to do traditional high poly work baked into low poly methods then this is a great way to create both models fast and easily. There really needs to be more vids or tutorials on this considering its the industry norm for most triple AAA games assets atm. The largest titles out there mostly use this- although they also use fusion.
When I click the add cylinder object it just adds a presized cylinder. It doesnt allow me to draw it on the screen interactively? Do you know why this is behaving this way?
You’ll want to use interactive creation knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/Maya/files/GUID-97A48BAD-DE69-423A-9B96-313F5494E5DC-htm.html
At 5:56 you said to "hit V on the keyboard and just snap it to that vertex" to align the extruded edge, but I've never been able to do it that way. In my experience, I have to select the component(s), set the pivot to one corner vertex (insert > V > drag to corner vertex), and then press V and drag the selected component(s) to the vertex of whatever area I want to align with my selection. How were you able to shorten the process to just selecting that edge, pressing V, and hovering on a vertex to snap? I tried doing it in Maya just now and mine won't work unless I set the pivot to a corner vertex first.
Solid video with good info, the only thing I would mention is the speed at which you speak. It is easily understandable, however, the pace of speech just seems hurried, which takes away from an otherwise great tutorial.
@@JoshAntonio I checked out some of your more current videos and have subscribed! You've continued with great informative tutorials and your vocal instructions are very clean and punctual now.
you know.. idk why people love maya so much.. he's clearly taking too much time for a really simple shape. i know he's explaining but. too much of a struggle.. i would done this exact shape in blender .. like in two or three clicks.. there's bunch of Blender haters but i don't get it. which is easier.. "go to menu.. croll down to boolians.. then boolian cut" after that delete some edges manually... or in BLender *Shift+"-"* ... and that's it. idk which one is easier for you.. ?
