I'm a RESIDENTIAL homeowner in Merritt Island, FL with +2yr old white gutters that became dinghy with pronounced tiger stripes from lots of rain & hurricane weather. After researching +50 RU-vids & websites concerning every gutter cleaner imaginable, I kept coming around to LA TOTALLY AWESOME, as the chemicals are not harsh. I gave it a shot, and IT WORKED INCREDIBLY WELL!!!! So here's the skinny based on my experience: 1) DILUTE 1:5 as directions show on label for oxidation. 2) Pick a very cloudy/moist day, as I did today, so that you can spray & brush agitate longer gutter lengths, ie., 20-30 feet. If sunny & VERY warm, you have to do shorter lengths so the chemical DOES NOT DRY ON THE GUTTER, keeping in mind that BRUSHING IS VITAL TO LIFT THE TIGER STRIPES OFF COMPLETELY. ACTUALLY, I HAND BRUSHED THE SIDES & BOTTOMS QUICKLY TWICE (WITHIN 10 MINUTES) 3) I THOROUGHLY rinsed the gutters, soffits, windows, walls, pavers/pool deck below. NOTE: I didn't pre-spray the gutters because they didn't require pre-cleaning & it was a moist, cloudy day. BOTTOM LINE: I purchased a 20oz. General Store bottle for $1.09, diluted it 1:5 and it only took 2/3 of the LA bottle for our lovely, one level home. I could have spend $50-60 for the gallon commercial grade gutter cleaners, but I wanted to experiment & keep it simple. LIKE THEY SAY, SOONER OR LATER YOU MAY HAVE TO REPAINT GUTTERS IF YOU VIOLATE THE RULES ABOVE with concentrated commercial chemicals. LA TOTALLY AWESOME work extremely well! It took a bit of BRUSH work, but every competing brand requires brushing as well for the best results. It was so worth going this route with a safe chemical combination! REMEMBER: DILUTE, BRUSH AGITATE WELL, SHADY DAY!!!, &
30 second outdoor cleaner is sodium hypochlorite, which is bleach. Instead of spending $10+ on a gallon. Just go to your local Dollar Tree and get Bleach(sodium hypochlorite) for a $1 a bottle.
Notice the OTHER GUTTER to the left , how it is also "cleaned" just from the hose spray .... lol ..... and those gutters had SURFACE dirt and mildew on them , I did not see any EMBEDDED TIGER STRIPES ...... anyone knows how to wash surface dirt and mildew off (bleach and detergent) , it's those embedded tiger stripes everyone is trying to clean off ..... THOSE are the difficult problems ...... and when washing gutters I would recommend "a soft brush on a pole" to scrub with ...... Just like a car wash has a BRUSH for a reason ..... it's always better to brush too , compare a car wash "pressure hose vs foaming brush" , which cleans better ???? Just tape a large paint brush on a pole if you have to , it's no big deal , but do a LITTLE "scrubbing" with some kind of brush for the BEST "clean" .... I put a paint brush on a pole and just swipe it across once or twice as I clean , not hard to do , no hard elbow grease scrubbing like crazy , just swipe it across the area a time or two , helps loosen the dirt and clean ...... But it's those tiger stripes that are hell to get off because they are molecularly bonded to the gutters !!!!
Thank you for your comment. You just saved me some money and lots of frustration. Our gutters are far worse than the "before" gutters shown in the video. Nothing has budged the black algae. I don't know if they can even be painted at this point. I wish there was a product that actually worked to clean them. I don't want to replace them. They're in great shape except for the black algae streaks. I live in a hot and humid area which doesn't help.
@@vickismith9550 this won’t either. The active ingredient sh or sodium hypochlorite is same this used in chlorine or bleach. It will remove organics. Need a butyl based cleaner. La’s totally awesome from dollar store mixed 1:3 brush about 10 feet at a time then rinse. Don’t let sit any longer than a minute
@@RickMartinRU-vid yes Lowes definitely has a fair price point for this product. I posted Amazon if ppl felt like ordered online. Thank you for watching!

FYI this will bleach paint. So if you have a painted home, don't use this. Learn from our mistakes on having to repaint the whole side of our home because it turned the paint green.
Just read the reviews on HD. Seems if this gets on the windows its a pain to get off. Two washes with dish liquid and vinegar, then "as needed. Are you kidding me?
What is/are the active ingredients, and what percent? I have a different product, Mold Guard EZ House Wash, and I want to know if I can use that following the procedure shown here. Mold Guard is 5.75% sodium hypochlorite, so almost the same as the Clorox people buy for the laundry.
I'm not sure what the exact mixture of chemicals is in the product I used in this video. I have read some comments stated that a 50/50 water bleach mixture would have a very similar affect as this product would. If you want to know more specifics you may try looking up the product in this video to see specs on the lable. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
@@DoItWithDave What does it say on the package you have? Somewhere the labeling has to say what the active ingredient is. I tried to look online but the listings don't say and the images don't include the labels in any useful way. If I can make it to Lowe's today I'll try to check the label and report back.
Most ppl on youtube make long winded unnecessary talking unplanned vids that absolutely suck. At least this guy gets to the point, but he could have mentioned how to make your own for 1/20th the cost using normal bleach and water.
I'm not sure what you mean by sanitize, but this product has cleaning agents similar to bleach and bleach can be used as a sanitizer. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
I don't know. I have an ad from a man who posted his business of powerwashing and it includes sanitizing the siding and gutters. I had to find out if this is a new practice, or just a marketing ploy.
JaCole, make sure you get it sanitized, you DON'T want any germs on your siding or gutters. These are the questions that make me happy I retired from 30 years of retail.
The best way to remove tiger stripes is “Easy Off”. Use a ladder, a hose, a bucket of water mixed with soap, full face mask, rubber gloves and the secret,,,,,,, spray the gutter in small sections with “Easy Off” non glove and fume version. Wait 10 seconds then the tiger stripes will literally wipe off with an abrasive sponge. Once tiger stripes are gone wash with soap and water then spray off the section. Easy off works best on dry surface so don’t spray unclean surface before spraying with Easy Off.
Yes this works exactly has shown in the video. Ppl have been commenting to just use bleach which could be a less expensive option, as you can bleach tile grout to get the white to show again without scrubbing.
Brian Bustamante in my experience with old gutters alot of times the black streaks can't be cleaned off because it is basically a stain on the surface. I've tried leaving this product on for several minutes then scrub with a handful of different cleaning tools and still have faded black streaks. I actually scrubbed the surface of a small section of gutter so hard that the finish started to come off rather than the streaks. So it will get the surface clean however any stains will remain. After cleaning you may try spary painting the surface to restore a brand new look on the gutter face. I hope this helps.
Brian Bustamante also if you want to try a different product that breaks the bond of the stains from the finished surface you my find this product useful. The only thing is it's very strong and can actually remove the finish if it sits to long. www.pressuretek.com/fgugr1ga.html
Home Depot sells a product called Krud Kutter Gutter Cleaner. It's supposed to clean black streaks from gutters (no, bleach and chlorine won't do it). I haven't used it yet, but I heard it's pretty effective, but you have to be very careful with application and set time. From my understanding, the product actually takes off some of the finish layer of gutter enamel (which is necessary to completely remove black stain).
I can tell you right now, by far THE FASTEST way to do this is with a high pressure water gun. You don't need any cleaning products and it will do a perfect job.
