When I put up the Christmas, the house feels cluttered!! And when I take Christmas down, the house feels bigger, and sad!! That's why I keep a few winter themed stuff up thru February. It's less depressing!! Your home is beautiful. ❤

I take down all the Christmas decor around the first of January. I then have a small collection of snowmen and silver icicles. This is my January decor since we live in Florida and have no snow or true winter. Gives us that feeling for a month or so.

I love my decor ! But with 3 kids and all their new gifts and toys - the tree comes down Christmas night or the very next day to get it back in order !! I do a thorough clean and then I decorate for winter! So now I have lots of white snowflakes all around !! Until I decorate for Valentine’s Day!💕 Have a great wknd and wk! Thanks, Amy ❤

Hi! Thanks for another great video! I really enjoy looking at all of my Christmas decorations in my house when it's up. I don't mind taking it down when it's time. I'm not a good decorator at all so I don't like looking at an empty blank space and not knowing what to do with it or how to make it appeal to me or make it feel like home. It's a struggle.

Amy, I wanted to say thank you. I suffer from diagnosed OCD revolving around neatness and tidiness, to the point where it affects every aspect of my life. I’ve gotten in a routine of using your videos to deep clean once a week or even every couple weeks to give myself a time that is dedicated to cleaning,instead of thinking about it all day every day. Some may use your videos to motivate themselves to clean but just know you are helping others too by normalizing having a lived in home and also being super neat and clean at the same time. It’s okay to do both. Hope you and your family are having a great new year so far.

Mad price I am like you with my ocd.i live in a single wide with alot of kids trying to make it work we have only had it 3 years. We have done alot of work to it. My old is so bad that I won't even want to walk in my house cause I don't love my home anymore like I did at first my old says get rid of this add this,and it's a constant battle. I am always wishing we had something better , would give anything to have a home like Amy Darleys. But amy makes me feel calm by the way she talks and she is simply laid back. I watch it for motivation of keeping my home clean and spiritual healing.

Paralyzing clutter...this really hit home for me. I have been battling a depression for about 7 months and cleaning Is a real struggle. Some days just getting out of bed is a chore and by the time I get thru the bare minimum I have nothing left. Sometimes for me cleaning motivation doesn't come from wanting or even needing a space to be clean it comes from videos like this when I see something I have and how it could be re-purposed, which gets the ball moving. Some times it comes from a question you ask and me thinking ohhh this could work in a space like that but I never comment because I'm unmotivated to do so. I purchased rolling rack from biglots that I used for years as shoe racks when our kids were all still at home at one point one moved next to the fridge and held soda cans and bottles of water but it would work great in your pantry for cans you could pull it out find what you need and roll it back in while maximizing the vertical space in that floor area. I want to say I found it near the ironing boards and such and may have been called a laundry rack

I have been there. Don't beat yourself up. Even if you only can do 1 thing you are moving forward. It really helped me to make lists and just being able to cross 1 thing off the list made me feel like I was accomplishing something.

Hey Amy I hope all is well with you and your family? I tried to message you on Instagram lol I was wanting to know if you ever use the Mrs Myers Concentrate to refill your spray bottles. I been using the Concentrate I use 1/4cup of Concentrate and fill the rest with water. I only use Mrs Myers for just wiping down counters or furniture. It was just more cost effective than buying spray bottle for what I use it for. I love the smell of the Peony.

I need to do this again. My kids have been home for Xmas break, then a winter storm hit and schools been closed plus a few days off for teacher training days. So my house now looks like this again with stuff everywhere. Also the tree and Xmas decor is still up. I’m so ready to get my house back to normal. This weekend rain sleet or snow it’s happening. I’ve been picking up toys and blankets and pillows for weeks it seems lol

I always have mixed feelings about taking the Christmas decor down. Part of me wants a fresh start but then I think it can be kind of depressing so I leave some of my winter things out like snowy trees and mix in the Valentine's Day stuff so it's all winter and hearts and it looks so cute and cozy. I decorate like a ski lodge for winter. The only time I go over the top is Christmas, so my ski lodge decor is mostly plaid bedspreads and pillows and cozy pillows along with a little winter wildlife. So I still feel like I have breathing room.

I was so excited to put up our Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving was over. It seemed like the holiday season went by too fast. Once it was New Years Day then my husband and I took down our Christmas decorations. I will say that it was nice to start with a clean slate in the house. Hi Amy - Happy New Year! In the past, I would always be relieved to take down Christmas decor and get my house back, however, this year I was kind of sad to take it down on New Year's day. I don't know if it was because I didn't get it decorated until a week before Christmas due to getting sick after Thanksgiving, or if it's because I've reduced my Christmas decor so that it doesn't feel so intrusive. We have a tree of course, and then I just use lots of red textiles (I even use the same pillow inserts, just change the covers) and add red berries to some of my faux greenery. I don't put out my entire nativity anymore, and we put out a few other sentimental items, but that's pretty much it. January is always a time for decluttering in my house too! Have a great week!

I think it's awesome that you just spent time with your family and not worrying about the house for a few days! Making memories is most important! My youngest son used to decorate his room every year (he's 14) . This is the first year he wasn't interested in putting his tree in his room or anything :(. Nobody looked for the elf in the mornings. He still moved every day though! It was kind of sad. But we made new traditions, staying home Christmas day and just playing games and spending time together.

Great job Amy! I love taking down all the decorations and starting the New Year with a clean slate! This year has been slow going since my husband and I brought back Covid from Bermuda. We are both on the mend finally and I am anxious for decluttering as well!! See you next Sunday.
