I got kicked off the app as a driver because I got 1 DUI. But I was honest learned from it and it was not job related. But since my whole life is documented and I did it the right way I can't drive but they can use fake accounts and don't care about background checks because they don't have a back ground

Uber Eats driver here. If your food comes from someone who doesn't match the picture you should report them. To be more specific it has nothing to do with race or migrant or anything like that. Just the simple fact that this person has not been vetted so there's no way of knowing what they may or may not do.

Report them and dispute the order. It's a breach of trust and false advertising. Also a safety issue that your food is handled by the person who was vetted. If not. Then don't pay.

This is been going on for almost 2 years in NYC. As a delivery worker, This has hurted me and costed me thousands of dollars because of these illegal workers using fake accounts. I barely made my taxes last year because of this.
I’ve used Uber multiple times and it’s fine…. Lots of good people just trying to make some extra $. It’s literally like taking a taxi. But this is for food delivery not ride sharing. I don’t use it but I don’t want them touching my food.

In fact, the Spanish ability helped get me my first job at a juvenile dependency law firm in downtown Los Angeles). I admire the Africans and Middle Easterners more, however, since they make an effort to learn English. I remember a Somalian driver who learned English in six months, then in his work, he learned Spanish.

I am almost to the point of stopping my use of Uber because of the stinky non english speaking non driving "drivers" The last few I have been in broke at least one traffic law, and two of them actually had me nervous about my safety, and I don't get nervous.
That's true. I'm a delivery driver for these platforms. Every time I call support, I get either an Indian or Middle East guy/gal on the phone. One time I asked a guy with thick Indian accent if he was in the US, he said he was in Japan and he was Japanese. I don't know if he was in Japan or not, but his accent was a dead giveaway that he was not Japanese. These are the people these platforms hire to assist drivers and customers.

They seem to try to speak too quickly, and it comes out as garbage. I'm always patient with them, knowing they are reading off a computer script that they are not allowed to deviate from. Plenty of them seem really intelligent. After all, they do speak at least two languages somewhat. Probably being paid less than $3 an hour for handling calls from 10 different call centers at once.

I live in a gated community where you must show identification to enter and no exaggeration at least half the time I order DoorDash the delivery person doesn’t have state (Florida)or federal (United States) identification and aren’t allowed to enter, it was happening so frequently I canceled my DoorDash account, also many times the delivery driver would obviously not be the person listed as the the delivery person is says is delivering my order

Amazon flex, Walmart Spark too. These people work in groups, each using multiple accounts made with stolen identities. Amazon and Walmart could stop this by having an employee verify the identity of the person picking up. They know it's an issue. This has been going on for years. I've been working for 45 years. The past 2 have been for a County. So I'm REALLY seeing a lack of common sense in P&Ps beyond anything in private or corporate companies. Yeah, it's mind-boggling. When the name of the driver is different then the person delivering your food should be reported. When the vehicle that arrives to pick you up is different than the one on the app it should be reported. This happens every other rime I order a ride or food comes to be delivered.
I don't use any apps like that, I know how to cook! And, brother, concert ticket prices are crazy. Glad Senator Blackburn is at least trying to get those prices under scrutiny.
There are a number of food delivery drivers who don't speak English in the areas where I live. I see them in the food establishments, when you talk to them, they can't answer because they don't understand what you're saying.
As a hispanic born in the U.S., I can attest that all of what’s going on with these apps are true. I use to do delivery for DoorDash for 2 years, and as soon as they implemented this new law in NYC a few months ago, I couldn’t get orders anymore! When I use to do delivery in NYC, I use to run into these other drivers and had conversations with them about their history and background. This started happening more often at the beginning of 2024. When I met these drivers, more than half of them didn’t even know how to speak English! I understand that migrants come here looking for a better life and better pay I totally get it. But big companies like DoorDash or Uber shouldn’t just let anyone in whenever they want and have these people take the jobs away from us veteran drivers who were actually born in the U.S. and who are actually able to work LEGALLY with REAL documentations! Also, I know plenty of people who have DoorDash activated, but don’t actually drive. Instead they let someone else drive for them and that someone is usually an illegal immigrant. It’s madness.
I placed an order with instacart at 2:30. A man picked up the other. One hour passed then two, then came 5:00. I messaged the person and no response. I didn't call instacart earlier because it said he was working on other orders and would do mines but that long of a wait didn't make sense. When I called Instacart I was placed on hold so the rep can contact the the shopper only for him to come back and let me know the shopper doesn't speak English. He took my order that long but couldn't understand how to shop!!!! This is ridiculous!! Another shopper took my order and did it perfectly!!
I saw a delivery driver at a fast food restaurant on a cold wet day with temperatures in the low 40's. He had a backpack and a motorcycle. I'll bet that food was frozen when it was delivered.
