End of harvest means farming is coming to an end for the year. Best thing we can do is quickly clean up the machines and put them away until the next season begins. It is both relieving and saddening but in the end it means another year in the bag and the excitement of looking towards the next.

This is one of the reasons why it pays to install a fuel sensor override on the line. It won't catch the first squirts, but it will lock the entire thing and prevent further damage. It essentially cuts power and just lights up the optional dash warning light.

We put stickers on every vehicle or machine and fuel sources which tell what it need or is! Even the best can do a hick-up - including me before! : D

If you get the duramax running, add couple qts of ATF to the fuel tank for a couple fill ups. Helps keep the o rings from drying out from the gas.

Duramax is Diesel powered not gas or petrol adding atf to diesel will destroy the engine you moron.

@@jasonswift7098 FYI, older diesels would run on ATF alone, I believe some manufacturers do allow ATF mixed with diesel.

@@jasonswift7098 completely wrong buddy. Adding ATF is widely used for added diesel lubrication. When starting old machines that have been sitting, we fill the diesel filters up with straight ATF to ensure the injector pump, injectors and cylinders are all lubed up.

Quit adding garbage to diesel fuel! Atf is for automatic transmission not fuel additive.....

When you are following someone’s advice pay attention to the money flow. Many shops are just like doctors if something is billable they will stick it to you. It may need all of that done but change the fuel change the filters give it a good prime and crank it up I do believe you’ll be surprised in a good way.

You may be right, it's had a lot of hard use. Is it worth it to throw money at it? Was there ethanol in the gas? Lack of lube may have damage the cylinder walls or rings? Explosive gas cracked a piston or bent a rod? Who knows.

@@stevenpdxedu i question half of what you said, lubricating the cylinder is still done via oil from the sump, the diesel will lubricate the injectors and like others have said help prevent damage to the o ring seals, but i wouldnt be too worried about the cylinders. Seconsly diesels run at significantly higher compression and generally are stronger than their gas counterparts, the explosion from gasoline shouldnt be enough to cause issues with the block. Diesels are far more forgiving than gasoline when it comes to putting the wrong fuel in, usually all a diesel needs is draining, filters changed and then try to dilute any remaining gas in with the diesel and it should be fine.

My uncle Abe could not buy a tractor during ww2 so he ordered it a piece at a time------ then put it together in his small 16x24 garage ----- part of a transmission,a wheel at a time- rubber was hard to get ---- It was a minny U--- just like that----He drove it till he passed away in the 90's------ he loved that home build

I am a colector of molines. I noticed the front wheeles woboling, a shim pack on the left hand side of the engine. take some shimes out ,drive tractor shold help Adjust the springpack onthe right side of the front end The bearings [on the spindles [ long brass] I made new ones.

If you have a diesel you need to get a favorite diesel pump. You always go to that pump unless you are on a trip. That cuts down on the chances of accidentally putting gas in. Make sure you also hook up the water in fuel sensor on the fuel filter. I know a guy who got diesel fuel with water in it from the gas station. That caused major problems as well, he ended up getting a new engine from that.

Don't worry about fancy cameras unless it's your hobby. Videos look and sound good. As for the comet, coming from a ford guy please just put a small block ford in it. Holley sniper efi is really easy to use. You get to keep an old school motor with modern efi ease of starting.

Done the repairs on gasoline in diesel before. Not a fun time to clean everything out. Luckily, it was an old Power Wagon with a Cummins, so plenty of space to run new lines and such.

At work our company runs Ram 2500 Cummins. Someone put Def into the fuel tank. The truck Stopped running. We hauled it to the shop, the guys pulled the fuel tank out of the truck cleaned it out, put Lucas fuel treatment, new Diesel and amazingly enough it runs great again!! Dodge wanted $32000, YES You read that right $32,000 to fix everything on it. Basically all new fuel system. Well the truck isn't worth even close to that amount. LOL We got lucky on it. They changed all the filters too. It fired up, was rough at first but cleared up and nothing was damaged. Smooth running again some how!

I built an engine for a 1959 Wagner, an old Cummins was seized no parts avail so found a used C190 turbo and made it fit the Wagner, quite a challenge but enjoyed it. No one knows anything about these engines, lucky I still have a manual for the engine keep safe

Mice control... use equal parts of powdered cement and cornmeal. That way you don't have to worry about any of your farm animals or Wildlife getting sick off the mouse poison. I read this in Farm Show magazine

You need to invest in a FASS filter for that truck. I have an ‘03 duramax and the FASS is great! It will protect you new fuel pump and injectors - but not from gas though.

04 should be old enough that you won't be replacing any hard parts as it's relatively low pressure stuff rather than a modern CP4 that'll eat itself even with whatever snakeoil additives really what causes diesels to stall on gasoline is the lower BTU/gallon this is why older mechanically governed ones didn't care nearly so much about gasoline, as they didn't care about running so rich that it would smoke modern electronically governed stuff just has too lean of smoke maps to run on the less energy dense gasoline

had someone do the opposite to us he poured Diesel in our 95 f150 it fried the map sensor and cracked the manifold we couldn't afford the repairs and had to trade it in but things happen like this and Pray it gets fixed none the less it is best to forgive than to be angry and Miserable.

taking that fuel system apart = waste of time, 99% likely no damage, ive had gas in my dmax like 5 times from my guys, just drained the fuel tank via the lift pump and filled it with diesel and let her rip, never had any issues.

Thanks 👍. Flushed it with dyed fuel until the fuel cooler ran red, drain tank completely and started her up. Balance rates are within factory specs, ran fine

@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob awesome! id throw a lift pump on any diesel truck you have, it adds a water filter and another fuel filter, takes strain off the hi pressure pumps and added benifit of being able to drain your tank at any time as well as auto prime and purge

Honestly the easiest way to flush the tanks is to suck out as much petrol as you can Fill it with deisel Remove the inlet line and blow fresh fuel up to the pump Then prime it up and run it You need at least 25% petrol to do any damage to the fuel system Theyre designed to be variable to suit all kinds of fuel quality globally The worst case is fill it with 40% fuel abd run it then it'll run but damage the system Most wrong fuel call outs iv dealt with someone's filled 80% petrol and it quit running because it can't run on petrol So it quit before damaging anything Maybe it'll shorten its lifespan but its questionable What you receive right out of the fuel bowser sometimes would scare alot of people The allowances for water and mixed fuel percentages are pretty high

Robert Welker we had an inch yesterday which has put a stop to drilling for a while, still have spring beans to combine, had a go on Friday afternoon but they are still 22-25% which is just a bit too wet to cut, best under 20% then we can dry them in 1 go.
