Well they got coil packs but what about the alternator? You worried about a intake smh you finna fuck up your car so idc. And the best intake goes underneath the wheel better air flow you will red line more. But you got it figured out so hey do you
@@rogerjoseph2532yes but keep in mind these cars are meant to drive even if there’s a hurricane out. A splash of water won’t kill your alternator instantly. Just let it all dry and blow it out with compressed air and it’ll be fine
A good way to hurt ECM Sensors today. These cars aren’t like the cars built during the 60’s and early 70’s. There wasn’t any worry back then. I use to use Gunk all the time back then. It’s a good product but water is a problem on today touchy electronics.
In my personal opinion I have always used simple green to clean my engine. I have found out that ENGINE DEGREASER tends to dry out all the rubber hoses and connections. For me personally SIMPLE GREN works just fine.
NEVER EVER spray your engine over an asphalt driverway.... Asphalt is oil-based, and will be desolved, by Gunk... I should know, I have a nice hole in my driveway now...
@@chazwick75 if you had a brain you’d realize there’s a difference between rain water getting in a closed engine bay and pressure washing the engine. Will you destroy your car if you don’t cover those things? Probably not. Is it smart to do it preventatively to avoid problems? Yes. So you must be one of those lazy and dumb people
I wouldn’t do that. You have parts in there that are sensitive to water like the alternator, sensors, and several connectors. Just use a silicone spray (light mist) and micro fibre towels to wipe up and dry.
I like to use the Maguires insane shine tire coating, if you get the non foaming one you can spray and leave it. It doesn’t run and there is no need to wipe unless you lay it on uneven.
The proper way to detail an engine bay has been created a year or two ago. The main product that currently has no competitor, is Koch Chemie MotorPlast. Only engine bay Detailer that isn't just a plastic and rubber dressing, it creates a protective hydrophobic layer that also prevents metals from corroding. So far its the only dressing made specifically for engines, as it's made for all the materials, and it's heat resistant. It last at least 6 months, I can't remember exactly how long, but it's the only of its kind. And with these types of processes, it's best to stay within brands since it's a prep and protect process. Koch Chemie Greenstar is their All Purpose Cleaner (APC's are safer than degreasers yet act as one, whereas degreasers are not necessarily automotive safe, however they are still cost effective and get the job done so APC isn't absolutely necessary) and is not to he used at any less than 1:3. It's so concentrated that 1:5 is considered full strength, while every other degreaser or APC comes full strength. Anyways, GreenStar along with some brushes, Rags, or whatever else you may use to agitate the engine bay, cleans it, and right after rinsing, you spray MotorPlast to protect all engine bay materials from corrosion. Once MotorPlast is sprayed on the wet engine, it is simply rinsed off and ready to air dry. Again, it lasts for at least 6 months, and protects all materials unlike typical engine bay dressings, which are really just rubber or plastic dressings that don't smell really bad or smoke too much when the engine runs for the first time after being detailed (mostly from being on the metal, which they're not designed for). I hope this comment helps someone who wants better engine details than the industry standard
ALSO COVER THE ALTERNATIR WITH GROCIERY BAG LIKE SHE DID THE INTAKE. lol, the alternator getting sprayed directly with water is what the whole engine light coming on, having to go to a mechanic after washing the engine bay thing comes from. You can leave it uncovered, it gets beaten with water when it's driven in the rain anyways, but you don't want it sprayed directly with a hose. For those who don't know, the alternator isn't always in the open/risk of being sprayed, but if it is visible from the hood, it's basically a metal cage with a giant copper wire spool. That's the only thing you have to cover to properly and completely safely clean the engine bay, unless you have a cold air intake, the exposed filter media thats used for performance/tuning, rather than being buried in plastic tubing like regular cars come with from factory. The alternators the important part though, if anyone has questions, concerns, or confusions about whether their car has these to worry about, I'm happy and able to help through these comments. I'm kindof here omfor the nooks like I was who have no idea what a cold air intake would be, look like, and even when you find out what they look like, you're not sure if your car has one anyways, lol. I'm here if anyone feels like they should be overcautious
cover alternator, brake and clutch reservoir caps and battery vent. pressure washer at a distance, less water used and lessen puddling. Or mist with the garden hose.
Miss.Sally not trying to be Rude cause that is not my style you dnt know it yet but were in love lol 😊 The Tats and the love for Hondas u dnt know it but u had me a the K24 Swap i honestly did not know it was possible i will keep it PG cause im a Grown man and kids be watching everthing these days but but for Real your Talents are Next level btw you killed it on the Advan Wheels your Man must be a very happy Man & if he is not i would like to put in my application to fill that position No bs im jst being Honest im just keeping it Real 💯
I take the battery out. Blow everything down with an air gun. Cover electrical connections. Alternator as well. Vacuum what I can. Then I rinse. With low pressure trickle. 👍👍. Love your videos. ❤
I barely drove into the flood water and my car engine turned off immediately and later declared a total loss. Here she is spraying water on her whole engine.
To tell you what that you should wash your engine bay every now and then? To leave your engine bay greasy and dirty will surely generate issues for your engine and components over time. Sorry to tell you if Scotty is half the mechanic he claims to be he would not tell you not to wash the engine bay. I’m not one for drowning the engine bay with a bunch of water but this honestly will not hurt anything as long as she starts the car immediately after, as she did for 15 mins the heat wfrom the engine will dry everything out in minutes.
Idk y im so apprehensive about cleaning the engine bay. 25 year old woman with a few repairs under my belt (motor mounts, thermostats, coolant flushes, AC blower motor) and I still refuse to soap that engine bay up and put water on it lol it does look so pretty though. I love ur car girl! Very nice! I have a civic too 💁🏽♀️
Two problems 1. Gunk leaves your motor greasy( you'll be doing it again before long).2. You forgot a bag over the alternator, your lucky your car didn't short
Good old Simple green and low pressure high flow garden hose....no brushing. After my friends waxed there imports I challenged them any day of the week that my engine bays were cleaner!
My accent crdi has lots of wires that the people from dealership advice me not to use water to clean jus blow air, but your Honda is maybe water tight in it's wires
@@vincentborges5745it isn’t just dust, it’s grease. Bet you don’t even know what’s happening under your car hood lol, or rather you don’t even have a car
@@ETHERNNNehh, probably a truck guy who let's the rain be his carwash. I'm not hating bc sometimes that's the right approach, but yeah, water would left it the same, splashy at best, when it dries. Pro Detailer here, lol, feel free to ask questions. I'm able to explain the absolute proper process, or the best dirt cheap one like she did. However without a dressing the engine bay won't be clean for long, so it's worth the extra bottle of product. Also, foam degreaser isn't better, just more convenient and therefore expensive
Car detailer. Keep engine running whike cleaning engine avoid air intake n ur good. Even essential oils in the front vents for a fresh scented goodness
More than 15 mins? The engine heat will have it dry in way less then that, 15 mins is a safe haven to pretty much insure all components in the bay are dry. There’s really no need to let it dry more, all thought it won’t hurt 15 mins is plenty of time.
And like always never paying attention to the blinker fluid thats why you girld stay stranded with a broken down car, change your blinker fluid every 3 months
Honestly I always thought to couldn't ger your engine wet like that because you could damage your alternator. I have a 1995 Civic Coupe that a purchased in 1995 and I have never cleaned my engine. Smh! Thanks!
I HIGHLY recommend removing the battery outright then letting it drip dry for several hours. People here keep saying "what you don't drive in the rain😂😂". If you're spraying water directly onto electrical connections, alternator, or injectors, they CAN go bad. It doesn't mean these things are guaranteed to fail, just a possibility, especially if you're using a pressure washer. Ive got a buddy that used a low pressure garden hose not thinking about it on their engine bay only to have to replace injectors. Dont believe me? Do whatever you want and take care.
One thing you should do that I swear by is to spray the entire engine bay afterwards with Meguiar's Supreme Shine protectant as a final touch. Makes everything look shiny, glossy, brand new. Trust me!
When I washed my RSX type s engine everyone said my car was toast bc I got the alt super wet and all the electrical components here I am 4 years later 🤣🤣 driving that same rsx and it’s not even grey anymore it’s black now cause I got it repainted 😂😂😂
One bottle on Awesome degreaser for $2.99 spray the crap out of the engine . Wait 30 minutes turn the car on and use a water sprayer done just after 50HP to my vehicle 🙆🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Clean the cover of the relay box and then cover it with a plastic before spraying the engine bay also if you have a distributor cover that with the plastic bag
Next time remember to cover the intake, positive battery area and alternator. After one of your maintenance washes this way if your car doesn’t crank up I would not be surprised
I put a plastic bag on the filter ;) and incorrect. most electronics are water resistant. What do you think happens when you drive in the rain? everything stays dry nah mate the whole engine bay gets wet including your alternator! Next time you drive in the rain take a look at your engine bay afterwards.
I could litteraly clean mine in 45 seconds and 8 quarters at the car wash while its running so it wont mess up anything or confuse sensors upon start up
Cat delete ? Did u keep regular exhaust resonator and muffler I need to get my old car off of there but wasn’t quite sure what the 2.4 sounded like hollowed out
