Grow microgreens with just water at home ... No Soil ...No coco coir...No other mediums.. but with food grade REUSABLE SILICONE MESH MATS ..
No wastage, No mold, No fuss, No mess, No need for constant attention... you can grow them right on your dining table.
This is my innovation after a lot of experimentation! I am sharing my experiences to help you save time, money, and effort in growing microgreens at home in a more productive frugal way with reusable containers.
I chose a soil-less hydroponic method using Epsom Salt and Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide for healthy germination and growth.

If I can.. you can too..! Good Luck!

I bought the mesh and tried this method with sunflowers, along side a tray grown on coconut coir. Both had a great yield, but the mesh sunnies grew better. Then I gave blind samples to a family of 4, a family of 3, and my own son. They all enjoyed the milder flavor of the sunnies grown on the mesh. Thanks for this awesome tip. After the taste test results I immediately started four more trays on the mesh. I used my regular black seed trays.

This is seriously such a brilliant idea! My radish greens are 3-6 inches high WITH NO MOLD!!! I may be too excited about this, but I have been struggling with mold for a couple of years! You should have one of those “thank you” money buttons! I would give you some $…and that’s saying something, because I’ve never done that before! Thank you so much for sharing your brilliant idea!!!

This is the way to go. This method is easy, keeps your greens easily able to be cleaned and you get a really easy release of the greens. The bonus is that you can cut the mats to fit in case you use a different sized container than what is shown. The biggest impact that I got from this was using the hydrogen peroxide, that has cleaned things up a lot. The only issue I've found is that it's difficult to hydrate some seed mixes on the mat itself as the seeds may be too small and slip through the holes. I've started using a fine mesh tea ball/strainer to soak the seeds instead then transfer the swollen soaked seeds to the mat. Once they've absorbed water the seeds tend to be too big to slip through the holes. Not a big deal, but you get a "cleaner" presentation while growing.

I grow over 200 trays per week on Efficient Grow Screens. I tried the silicone mesh but found it didn't hold water as well as the EGS Screens, which are made specifically for microgreens. You're definitely right though, this method is the cleanest way to grow product, and my customers love it.

This is one of the best how-to videos on microgreens that I've seen. The comments and high number of views for just a handful of videos seem to show a lot of people agree.
