Nice to see the Boxford getting some love. My lathe only lathe is a Boxford, I have dreams of a 13 by 30 Dean, Smith and Grace but not sure it will ever happen !

We were given 2 Lathes last August 11 miles from home. 4 journeys and other bits came as well. A Blackgates cut off saw, Flypress and a filing machine. They had all spent 30 years in a workshop with a leaking roof. Bits have now com FREE from the Super 7 but the Raglan 5 still needs work. Sounds like 60's pop groups. Both with gearboxes!! Our last 2 visits we dragged them past a rapidly filling SKIP poor things. David and Lily.

Hi Keith, Love your videos. I'm currently building my own workshop. I've noticed, above your Boxford lathe, you have a model of a lathe on the shelf with your drills and die holders. I was wondering if it's something still available or if its just something you picked up? Thanks Tim.

I don't mind cleaning, it is instant gratification in a shop. To paint is however pure pain and suffering. I hope Mr. Rob will get at least one case of beer for the paint effort.

I used a standard Polyurethane paint.

the bed on the boxford looks like it's worn that much that the saddle is riding on the crest.

Not at all, probably the camera angle distortion. Please watch my "Model Engineering For Beginners" series - You will then see how unworn and accurate it is.

That was interesting. I am restoring a 1960s Harrison Mill and I'm using Paragon paint and primer for that. It's very good quality. Even someone who is as terrible at painting as I am can get good results. I started following you after seeing you on John Mills's channel. After looking at some of your earlier videos, I can see you are a bit of a cross between LH Sparey and Keith Emerson.

I'm thinking of using paragon paint for my next machine tool - I see you haven't used primer, is that a deliberate choice for speed, or some other reason?

We rubbed down the existing paint so a primer was unnecessary.

At least the previous poor painters didn't paint completely over all plates & tags of your lathe like the idiots at where I used to work did, at least once if not several times!

Yes they did on a few, I wiped the excess away with solvent . . .
