We're gonna go full blown lemon Pledge on you and make your cymbals shine and make em' slick. Like Rick. Quick.
Is it a coating? A shiny, lemony life changing epiphany? I think it works very well on both lacquered and non coated cymbals.

Thank you! My purpose is to show real life cymbal maintenance and how to restore cleanliness to cymbals taken out in real life experience after playing gigs, storage and hopefully used cymbals as well.

Greasing your cymbals will make them shine. Don’t do it.

Grease? What kind of grease and what are we not supposed to do? If there is any chance of damage, we need specifics and examples. Thanks!

Good video!. About the Pledge ("Multi-Surface") cleaner you mentioned though... I've been using it for about 8 years with NO issues, and my cymbals still look nearly new. I do them like every couple months. The P-MS doesn't leave anything behind, and they're not slick when you hold them. It's relatively mild, yet strong enough to get nearly ALL the stick marks and relatively new-ish fingerprints off. I use it on EVERY part of my kit, from cymbals, to hardware, to shell finish, lacquer or wrap. It's kind of a miracle in a bottle, I absolutely love the s**t!, and recommend it to anyone as a maintenance cleaner. Don't be afraid to dig in and scrub a little bit though with microfiber cloths, it won't hurt your cymbals, just be light over the logos

I was going to recommend it for all hardware and rims too. Its so nice looking when polished!

I go from watching videos of people using ketchup to Bar Keepers. Would have never thought of using Pledge. But I'm sold after this... You say this is good for hardware and drums?
@eastbaymauiboy
@eastbaymauiboy 3 года назад
@@ryandonohue152 Yeah, I dunno. Bar Keepers might be good on cymbals but ketchup is just gross lol. If you wanna do a deep clean on tarnished cymbals, I would just use one of the actual cymbal polishes. I started with new or newish cymbals and the Pledge Mulit Surface is really good for lighter (newer) stains and maintenance on cymbals. Basically if you use it before the prints and stick marks become permanent, it'll keep your bronze looking new. Yeah, I use it on the drums and hardware too. It works great, it's fairly gentle. Just use microfiber cloths so no scratches

I like the music nomad cymbal cleaner. But I have paiste rudes now so that might not be the choice other than soap n water. I tried a spot didn't do anything.

awesome video that table looks great to sit and clean my cymbals, you can have it matt...ah no thx i have a small apt im the lead drummer at my church we have a conference coming up in like 2 weeks with our friends coming from canada to ca usually he brings a team with him and 2 drummers from another church up there come and help me tune mine and all that (i have no clue what im doing because i play by ear) it's deff time to clean the cymbals. so you said i just need a washcloth and paper towels for this to work? i love that you played them right after you cleaned them they sound good. and yea your right the special cymbal cleaning stuff they want 300 (250 online) but still i don't have that kind of money to spend but we have lots of dollor stores here oh and one more thing you said you were gonna clean your other cymbals after this video to test if the letters come off im asking because before this video i watched another video where a guy put chemicals of all kinds and even ketchup and then he got mad when the letters paiste and sabin came off lol i laughed and thought well of course i don't think it was smart putting ketchup to clean cymbals

Hi and thanks Matt! Take a look at this video as it shows me cleaning one of my favorite logos with no problems:the blue UFIP logo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yrdqLiswe20.html And yes, a wash cloth will work fine but stay away from paper towels as they can deteriorate pretty quickly. Can you pick up a bottle of lemon juice concentrate? Just wash your cymbal with soap and water then pour the juice on the cymbal and leave for 10 minutes. Wash it off well. As for cleaning with ketchup? Its the vinegar that helps oxidize the metal and it will stain your cymbals pink!

There's glycerin in the ingredients of Pledge. So, it's definitely leaving a slick residue.

Have you tried it on 90s era Traditional A Zildjians? Scared to do it. I tried real lemons, it does clean it to some extent. But it leaves this whitish haze. Hard to remove even when I clean it with a towel.

2 things: what do you mean 'be careful with your towels'? and where is your camera? you're holding the cymbals while playing, but your camera is mobile. is it in your hat or something? also, nice cymbals.
