It is worth it to buy a magnet sweeper. It will take care of the vast majority of nails, nuts, washers, bolts, pins, and the like. Had an apartment that I picked up over a pound of nails and screws, then at least 8 pounds of soil vacuumed out!
Over a pound? Geez! Good idea about the magnet sweeper. I actually had one at home in the shed but didn't know what I was facing until I got there lol. But it would have been super helpful on this job. Luckily I don't run into roo many of these.
I do foreclosures , And if they trying to save carpet, I always have to start out with a big azz shop vac for a couple runs. But Nobody wants to pay for your time anymore, Thats the real problem, Not doing the actual job. Anyway, Great job Chief, Stay Safe out there 👍
Thank you. And you're 100% right, very few want to pay what a job is worth to do it right. This one really needed a shop vac, CRB, regular vacuuming, and then cleaning but I would have been there a long time and they weren't paying any extra because this house was already over budget.
It was sitting at home thinking to itself, "I'm glad that's not me having to pick all that crap up!" 🤣 I brought the Sanitaire with me because the customer had told me how bad these carpets were and I knew I would likely have to vacuum the stairs which is *way* easier with the Sanitaire than the Workhorse. The Workhorse still gets used but not in filthy rentals, flip houses, etc.
@@AllAmericanMack good plan as there is a bit of price difference between the two... If you ever change out those vac motors and did a video installing those Z or LX in Parallel I'm sure you'd break the YT views!!
No, I didn't use the CRB on this one. I don't usually have the CRB with me because I don't really have room to carry it. It would have definitely helped dig all those screws and nails out of the carpet though.
