Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa who is the life force behind his family’s 1,700 acre farm. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad (Daddy Cornstar) and brother (Cooper) on the farm. With a lot of help from Daddy Cornstar, Cole instills humor and education into his videos fit for both young adults and adults. Despite being 22-years old, Cole has an old-fashion work ethic with an innovative approach toward agricultural technology and practices. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

Daddy Cornstar, thank you for taking such care at the cemeteries. You always are respectful of the family of the deceased, making the site neat and tidy, and carefully placing the flowers and mementos in place as you finish. It is a blessing to the family to know their loved one has been treated with respect. Thank you for caring.

Hay Coop, about 65 years ago I used to ride behind the square baler on a skid made of 2 by 6 boards. I would catch and stack the bales as they came out and stack them. When I had a good size stack, I would stick a metal pole into the ground ahead of the stack and it would slide off of the skid. This made it easier and faster to load onto the hay wagon, and we didn’t have to stop at every loose bale in the field. Of course this takes another person to accomplish it, but the time saved might be worth it.

Cole, I'm speaking from experience, if that big trailer has foam insulation, don't use a torch. Measure your dump truck bed use a soapstone or paint to mark off sections of the trailer, use a concrete saw with a metal blade to slice it in pieces..if no insulation use the torch. Stack the sections so they fit nicely in the dump truck. Piece of cake. Work safely, wear gloves and old pit vipers for eye protection. Stuff looks dry, drag a water hose out there.. if you use the torch...

Rather than plant a huge lawn, consider planting a wildflower meadow by your house. There may even be funds available through the Natural Resource Conservation Service. I know here on the East coast, they offer farmers and homeowners financial incentives to set aside areas for pollinators and other wildlife. It would be attractive, and much less cost and work to maintain than grass. Heaven knows you do enough work already. No sense adding "cutting the lawn" to that huge to do list of yours. 🌼🌻🌸

@Joan In Florida, not if he were to plant things native to the area. It was all prairie at one time. Plant diversity is a good thing! Most lawn grasses popular today are not native plants and most need high inputs of water and fertilizers (& mowing) to look their best. Native meadow plants need very little additional water after getting established, develop long roots that prevent soil erosion, and require no additional fertilizer, and are only mowed or burned, once a year to prevent trees from taking over. And, there may be funds available through the NRCS to help pay for it. Just a suggestion, but one I think would be worth looking into. I know Cole is an innovative guy and those points might be appealing to him.
@susanmckenna3882
@susanmckenna3882 4 года назад
@Joan In Florida Yes I have watched many of his videos. And yes, I do know they plant miles of corn and soybeans. But also yes, our pollinators ARE in dire need of plants that will feed them and give them cover and protection. Especially things like the monarch butterfly, - which has become the poster child of all insects- that needs a place to land, feed and breed en route to Canada on It's yearly migration. It's merely a suggestion. I'm not trying to start an argument. Sometimes people just need a suggestion to think outside the box. What has always been done is not always the best; for farmers, the environment, our children and grandchildren and the butterflies. 🦋
@jax-zm1bb
@jax-zm1bb 4 года назад
Yes, plant the wildflowers there. They don't need mowing except at the end of the season so the they can self seed. The hungry bees and butterflies would thank you! Get a couple of bee hives or invite a bee keeper to put hives on the plot.

Cole; if you are out of acetylene you can use propane to cut. The fitting is the same on the older propane bottles but not the newest ones. Not quite as hot, but great for general cutting. It cannot be used for welding because of contaminants, but not an issue for cutting. Just grab the tank off your BBQ and keep going. Cheaper too. Also, a Sawzall with long metal blade can be handy cutting junk.

Cole, you might be surprised but that old moving trailer could have some value to a restorer of old semi trucks/trailers. It's an old North American Van Lines trailer from about 1950, possibly a Fruehauf. Advertise it on Ebay or post it on Pintrest or wherever. If they will come pick it up and you won't have to demo that great old relic. They are mostly gone these day. Restored and put it behind a restored Mack B and they'll be off and running.
