@@hm5468Opal is a porous stone, and pearls are really fragile! Both can absorb the cleaning solution, and the toothbrush can cause scratches. If you ever need to clean opals or pearls, try using a polishing cloth instead.
@@flamingowithaplottwist6256 I live in mexico. And pandora doesn’t have the best customer service here. Once I left my pandora bracelet and they gave my charms to another customer. When they returned it some of them were fakes. And the cleaning kit in mexico (and every pandora item) it’s like double the price here because of customs. That’s why I want to find a way to clean it myself
Yes!!! It absolutely does! I hate when people share these “hacks” that actually can ruin soooo many stones , gems, pearls and opals. Not to merino the boiling water would crack the charms and colored charms!! What an idiot
Please get a real jewelry cleaner. 🙈 You can completely ruin fine jewelry with these homemade concoctions. I have silver I can now clean and shine with polish but it has permanent stains from trying some of these at home cleaners. Real cleaner is pretty cheap and you dilute it down, so it goes a long way.
I use to work at pandora and that’s literally how we would clean the jewelry if we ran out of the cleaning liquid. Get you a polishing cloth and those babies will really shine!!😂
@@cd7942 Yes can as long as they are actually made straight from Pandora. You can clean them the same way however I wouldn’t let them soak too long. Maybe 5-10mins but using a toothbrush and dipping it into the same solution and scrubbing mostly should be fine. With gold and rose gold we try to be more gentle because they are plated and not fully solid. I hope that helps!!😁👍
For any kind of silver ornaments Tea,baking soda, and salt also work the same. Just put in a pot and boil until it is white. That's how we do it in Bangladesh
Guys be careful when using solutions like this on jewelry. Some gemstone (as well as pearls) get damaged by it and loose their shine. At most only throw pure metal into the mixture and leave the gemstones out if you aren’t sure they won‘t be damaged by it.
This works , I hadn’t worn my pandora bracelet in years and it was really dirty, brown and ugly . I crinkled the foil (that part is very important), put the bracelet in the foil , sprinkle with baking soda and pour the boiling water into it, that’s all and it worked
More crinkles = more aluminum foil surface area that strengthens the chemical composition used to loosen dirt and debris. Also, the more crinkles = space for your jewelry to sit UP on and not stay at the bottom with all the dirt and debris. Let the chemical reaction work and the junk fall to the “valleys” or low spaces, keeping the now cleaner Jewelry up on the “peaks”.! ❤❤
Ahhhh I used to work at pandora and you really shouldn’t use anything other than a cleaning cloth and then some mild soap and warm water if they are really bad. Also, go to the store and ask them for an anti tarnishing bag.
@@Milkyway_Wishesonly when they didn’t have anymore of their usual cleaning supplies - and probably by employees who wanted to help the customers anyway they could instead of turning them away with “sorry ma’am all out of cleaning ingredients” but then I’m thinking…. No cleaning solution, but just happen to have all these other ingredients needed to McGyver the situation??😂😂
As expensive as the bracelet, and every individual charm is, it shouldn’t even tarnish if you ask me. For anyone reading this, thinking of purchasing Pandora bracelets don’t waste your money I know from experience.
Ex-employee here, Pandora offers free cleanings year round for all Pandora jewelry. Also, if you wanted to clean it at home, just use a teaspoon of blue dawn dish soap, some WARM water, and a reusable container and gentle shake it then use a toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies then pat dry with a paper towel and polish with a polishing cloth! Boiling water may cause some charms to break/crack and you may not be able to get it replaced if it’s not covered by the 1 yr warranty or that product was discontinued!
Also ex employee here, this is true. Now the stores do not cover the 1 year warranty anymore but cooperate customer service does! It's get harder for them with retired products but they will do their best.
My husband walked into Pandora bought something for me then asked for them to clean my bracelet he brought along with him. They said they don’t do that anymore but he could buy the $20 cleaning kit. So he did. Pandora does NOT do free cleaning at all stores at all.
I use the Pandora cleaning solution and I wear my bracelets for nearly 10 years now and I have over 40 charms and mine look like new. I wear them in the shower too, but I do not use them in a swimming pool as that turns them black. If you buy their solution it does an amazing job. Mine look brand new and I am complimented about them constantly. Definitely wear them more as they mean a lot to you and those are beautiful x
Past Pandora worker here. Flakey salt and foil are equally as effective in cleaning (aluminum and salt chemically reacting is a great tarnish cleaner) and safe on ALMOST all Pandora jewelery. You can and should skip the baking soda bc baking soda is an abrasive and will cause micro scratches in your jewelery and will actually strip the luster on certain stones and metals much faster. Been cleaning my Pandora pieces like this for years after leaving
My Pandora bracelet is over 25 years old. I got my first charm for my grandfather. And he continued to buy charms for every bi. Have way more terms than convenient fit on my bracelet. But everyone holds a sentimental memory. I'm glad that I have these little pieces. That remind me of memories of my grandfather now that he's no longer here
I don’t know about the US, but in Britain if they mark it as silver then it has to be sterling silver ie. 925. Pandora charms in the UK are all 925 because if it was mixed metal they’d have to label it white metal instead of silver.
@jbax5521 don't let them b.s. you sliver is marked .925 now they may coat it with something else and that comes off but not real sliver have too many pieces 😢
I have tried this before and definitely has great effect. One note for others though: this was effective for real silver only, it does not work with silver-like metals or melchior
You can use tamarind to clean it. It is much easier. Soak a piece tamarind in hot water, then put your jewelries keep them overnight and wash them with a toothbrush next morning. It is much easier to remove any tarnish.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN… if you take your pandora jewerly to a pandora store they will polish it FOR FREE, as a former pandora worker I can tell you they will appreciate you not doing this as it damages the jewerly long term and causes the jewerly to eventually tarnish faster
some of the charms are fake so i wouldnt expect them to not oxidize really bad. but pandora sells cloths and offers free cleanings . i dont recommend doing this to youre bracelet tho it could be damaging
@@Skalyon2i did some research and it is ok for silver charms only but if you have rose gold or gold charms i would recommend the pandora cleaning solution , also if youre using this soultio on your silver charms then i recommend at least grabbing a cleaning cloth from pandora it has a polishing solution on it and it will prevent you're stuff from tarnishing again all together if you use that cloth every once in a while after wearing. i would just be a little cautious with mine because i like the rose gold line but for silver this would work well just need some conditioner polish that keeps the jewelry from getting to dirty. i hope this helps ❤
@@Skalyon2having a professional jeweler as a friend whose profession spans 50+ years, don't use this method on your favorite or most valuable pieces 😑
Please take your darkened jewelry to the jeweler. no need to clean them yourself! you can ruin and scratch it. let a jeweler clean them and cover them with rhodium! yes, it is more expensive, but it is safe for your jewelry and such cleaning after coating with rhodium will be extremely rare!!!!!
Yes, as plated jewellery is a layer of gold placed on to the surface of another metal (usually sterling silver) to coat the piece, anything plated will eventually tarnish over time and wear. However the thicker the gold layer, the longer it takes for you to see any tarnishing or fading. In general, though, most gold plated jewelry will begin to tarnish within a few years of regular wear.
I love the charms you collected! It's definitely better, but still doesn't look like it did. You need some actual silver polishing paste and a silver polishing cloth. I also like the nano bristle toothbrushes, they're very densely packed and they get every crevice. That will restore it to how it was. (source: I run a small jewelry shop)
THIS DOES NOT WORK ON ALL METALS ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ Every single thing in this world is composed of chemicals and chemicals react with other chemicals. You can’t just be poured random chemicals on metal. 😂
I also have some really sentimental pandora charms and I lost them for prob 8 months and I was so sad and once I found them( I found them yesterday) they are so rusty and finding this is a miracle I’m going to be doing this immediately!
There is a product called Tarn-X it works a lot faster and you don’t have to scrub it after you have a soak in the product for about 10 minutes and it works better than that
Store it in tarnish bag and put the tarnish bag is jewelry box so it’s not exposed to air or light. Never store it in those Pandora bags they give you. Absolutely trash.
Fish soup? Lol boiling water? Of course the CZ pops off. NOOO! Just use a jewellery cleaning machine or aluminium foil bicarb soda and warm water. Duh!!!
Make sure that you pour that water down the toilet not down the sink because it’ll come around us are drinking water and port any other chemicals only down the toilet
What a lovely collection! Be careful not to use too hot a water, and don't do this for charms with wood, pearls or enamel. ;) I'd also avoid using a metal fork/utensil as that can scratch the silver, which is soft. I've also had some Pandora items for a long time (got my first bits back in 2009) and I clean them this way. I also use a soft toothbrush and then a soft silver polishing cloth (Town Talk) if I feel like it needs an extra oomph. :)
