It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ru-vid.comUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
Great achievements with that clean out, cant think why Brooke didn't want to keep those "quaint"curtains 😂😂😂😂 and boy did you give that hoover a work out lol..great job by all 👌
Mr. Porcupine is going to be terribly upset that you are squatting on his home and destroying it! Though he says thank you for taking out the chamber pot. Can't wait to see what you do. This place makes me think of Sam and Jenny Campbell and I know this isn't like their cabin at all. But with the Porcupine and the setting, this is how my brain sees the setup under the trees. Of course, this doesn't have the lake either, and their cabin was in Northern Wisconsin (Three Lakes). This place is really exciting to see what you do with and it is such a perfect place. Thank you as always for taking us along!
Whipple's Cleanout Crew knocking it out of the park while porcupine buddy's watching to see what fun renos y'all do to his pad. I see loads of potential there! Can't what to see what's next! God bless!!!
Check out Aladdin kit homes. They were in central MI, still producing in 1975 I believe. I introduced myself in Brooke's comments if she'll share. My first house restoration in FL was a 1913 Sears kit, added to in 1926 again using Sears upgrade components for that house. Very interesting.
Howdy Dave 👋🏻. Your video popped up before Brooke's video. Had to watch in order and enjoyed both videos. Appreciate y'all sharing with us. It amazes me how fast our children grow up. Happy 18th Birthday Young Man 🍰🍨🎊🎉. Looking forward to seeing what y'all do with the new property. Stay safe. God Bless Y'all ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻
I use to hate my parents rental property chores (when the rentals would move out & we would clean up the house/yard for the next renter)...but, as an adult I realize that I learned a lot and enjoy this kind of work now. Your son will someday realize you & Brook are teaching him phenomenal life skills on how to survive & thrive. 💪🏡🧹🧽 Cant wait to see Brook's great decorating ideas with this "old" soon to be new cabin. 🌷☘🌷
Thanks for teaching me the term "sweat equity" and your No BS approach to all things. If you break things down into smaller projects, they seem less daunting and less complicated. Thanks Dave!
The " be radical" at the end seems to be better said:" be free to live". There is no radical, but I definitely feel the nature and beauty of work we can all be proud of. I watch you in the winter, and renovate my place in the spring, summer and fall.
Great effort made by all in dismantling the interior of your latest venture. Funny how our teens are motivated to help , with the idea of it being paid work !!! Good to see how it looks when gutted. Looking forward to the next day of action. Always a pleasure Dave , be blessed. 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏✌️👍👏🇺🇲
I love all your videos. Started watching you and also Brook's Girl in the Woods a few years ago. Just found your brother recently, Black Spruce, too. I lived at Ft Wainwright 2011-2013 with daughter and family while her husband was deployed. Love Fairbanks. I went back for about 1 yr 2019, stayed with friends I made while there 1st time. Love your content, narration and videography. I'm now 75 yrs old and I'm enjoying life vicariously with all three RU-vid stations. Keep doing all you guys are doing. You guys are my favorites. Hugs from an old grandma 😂❤
It's special watching you redo an older house rather than just building cabins from scratch. I'll never build a cabin on my own but I'm sure have a lot of history of cleaning out old houses in the country that have sat empty awhile. 😊
One of the realities of being remote/rural -- dealing with all the junk the last guys left. You might find some rat poop caches in the ceilings/attic as well. I love this format of video and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the demo.
Loved the 50 #'s of porcupine poop looked like peanut crossed with old dog food on my cellphone as I watched you vlog. Good progress Dave from one Dave to another. Best David
Nick earned him that Benjamín; yes sir! Place did clean up pretty good; who would have knew that coffee table was the gem of the cabin! Look forward in seeing yours and Brookes spin on the old cabin. Thanks for sharing. On to watch "Girl in the Woods" version. LOL
I'm so glad someone mentioned the coffee table! I had my eye on it since the first video of walkthrough of the cabin. I didn't know its actual make, but I love vintage furniture, and I could tell it would be a stunner.
The Lane Coffee Table- My parents bought three pieces from that line of coffee tables: 2 end tables and a long piece with double stacked tables on a pivot, so that the bottom table would swing out into an 'L' shape. Yes, they were very pricey in the late 60s and now with the Mid Century Modern Trend, you could get some money for that table. Let Brooke work her magic with some wood cleaner and a bees wax finish, and it would look almost new. I really enjoy the way you two work. Not many people would MAKE the time and effort to roll up that barbed wire and then try to sell it. My family would do the same thing. Although, I think I would have left some cabinetry outside for Porky, the Porcupine to chill out. OR you could build a designated house for him; don't they eat the pesky bugs that destroy gardens?
I bought a similar cabin a few years ago that people left and never returned. I found a receipt on the kitchen table for a propane fill from 7 years before I closed on it. It came with a old car, truck, pontoon boat, speed boat, 2 small aluminum fishing boats, 4 small outboard motors, a camper, a dock and a lot of personal belongings. The cabin needed a whole lot of work too. Having the time of my life fixing it up.
I love that you all set a good example by wearing breathing protection. We have a neighbor at our future homestead that did construction for a living and black mold really did a number on his lungs.
This was again great , a second version , first by the Miss's and second by you . There's two perspectives on this project , and you both are one .. Rock and Roll on the good work !
Hi Dave. Enjoying this series and looking forward to what you and Brooke are going to do. Any chance of an interview with the Porcupine? I’d like to hear more about his grandfather 😂
Dave, thanks of sharing your off-grid life. I am 61 years old and always wanted to do it. Put almost 25 years in the Army, got nine grandchildren, but still got the feeling since I was in my 20s. I am willing to sell my house and build one far away from what's going on, I got solar and thinking about having four wind turbines, use one for fanning the other three...
This was a great watch, its amazing what gets done when its family all pulling in the same direction. Looking forward to the next installment. Many thanks David in the UK.
Awesome job and seeing all the clearing out. Nice to see your son helping you both out. Everywhere poop and more poop!! 💩🤣🤣 Great video David. Looking forward to the transformation of this new wonderful cabin of a gem. 👍🌲🇨🇦 ( Vancouver Island, Cobble Hill, BC)
Hey, Middle Aged Guy, excellent videography! You are so good at telling a story. I love the inclusion of the porcupine- I didn't know they could climb trees!
That asphalt siding😂😂😂my maternal grandparents home was covered with it. Not the most beautiful thing, but it sure worked well! Glad to see the place being emptied out, and that for the most part it’s solid. Can’t wait to see what the Whipple’s have in store for it…
I would have thought the first step would be taking the trees off the roof! You should refinish and keep the boomerang table. It would be neat to keep a single original item from the cabin so there's a tiny bit of continuity between the new and the old. I have to imagine that when you're through with the project the cabin won't look like the same structure at all.
That looks great! It's the sort of place where I'd put in all new electrical and wire it up for network and cable (so if you wanted to hook up DirectTV/Smartlink/cable) when I put in new walls and maybe even high-grade windows to keep it warm.
Can't wait to see the rest of this journey. I'm also looking for land up in the mid to northern Michigan. In Holland now, but once kids are a little older I'll sell it all and find some land like yours.
Hi again DAVE ALOT of funkies for sure lol! You all are the bravest to tackle a real gross place but now that it's cleaned out its bones seem not so bad. The setting is really nice and now part of the rest of your acres which does make it a super spot. Congrats! Can hardly wait to see how you finish it. Catcha next time! God bless
Looking good, Dave (the cabin). It will be interesting to watch it evolve. I'm used to watching you build from the ground up. This will be a little different. Maybe once it's all cleaned up, you could dub it "Porky Ranch". Peace from Delta Junction.
Great video. I’ve watched you off and on for a while. The more I watch the better it gets. I live in the Deep South so probably won’t build a bush radical cabin. But I’m sure I’ll build something. Thanks for sharing and for bringing us along
I am so glad Dave to see you guys getting it all cleaned out. I look forward to seeing the build as you could you and your family build it out together and make it a presentable place to relax and enjoy. Look forward to the next videos. keep up the good work you keeping it really interesting.
Excellent work! Glad your son got some pocket cash for his car or other needs. Glad you both got all the nasty work done and out of the way. That home will make a nice place when fixed up patched up and done. I agree about the yard! I have never seen a porcupine in life anywhere. Glad to at least see on in a video. Best wishes for the remaining work on this nifty and thrifty place.
