We process a beef every year, from our farm. Last year, we ended up with 44 roasts! What to do with all that beef! Of course, I can it

Wow! That video ended abruptly! This takes me back to my days of working in the meat shoppe of a grocery store (2002-2012). They started me off wrapping meat, manning the counter, and hosing everything down at the end of the day. After about a year, they wanted me to start cutting meat--but they refused to train me. "Just do it," they said. It's no wonder this country is going to hell in a handbasket. I'm glad to see you're back, Barb!
@theoldfarmerswife5915
@theoldfarmerswife5915 Год назад
Yes it did. It was going to be way too long if I didn't cut it off somewhere! LOL I'm working on the 2nd 1/2 or maybe even make it into 3 I'll bet you learned quickly how to cut meat by "just doing it" Hands on is the best way. I'm no professional meat cutter, but sometimes I think my cuts are better than the "pros" haha
@bigscarysteve

@@theoldfarmerswife5915 I got a lot of complaints about how half-a**ed my meatcutting skills were--especially when I was asked to slice Easter hams for people! It took several years, but they eventually moved me to another department.

hello lady glad to see you still kicking around. Wow I haven't seen a saw & grinder combo like that in years we had one in one of the AP's that I worked at . The screw looking item that goes into the head of the grinder is called the worm, then you have the knife which is the blade and the plates the hopper is the top piece that you put the me in and the neck is what's on top of the grinder from the hopper to the worm. Beautiful looking machine grinds nice too. Well I hope all is well God bless ✌💖💪🎅🚌🌻👍

Can you please tell me what oil you use on your grinder? I have 2 hand crank ones that I want to take care of properly.
@theoldfarmerswife5915

I bought a quart of it, several years ago, in a specialty shop. It's called packers tech oil. There are so many people around here who process their own wild game & some their own domestic meat. It's nice to have a place to go to look for supplies. Now we can get just about everything online I understand making sure your beef is big enough. We held back 2 this year, for next January. One of them is much smaller. Told the Old Farmer, we might want to butcher one early & the other 3-4 months later

So you cook your hamburger and dry pack it no added liquids. Have you had any problems with this method????. The spiral piece inside your grinder is called an auger or auger feed system. Very nice machine thanks for the video demo.
@theoldfarmerswife5915
@theoldfarmerswife5915 Год назад
Yes, I do partially cook my ground meat, as in the past, I raw packed it and it was just too greasy for my taste. Some people prefer the fat in theirs, so it's a personal preference. I have not had any problems by doing it this way. If I accidently over cook the meat, I add water, as it makes a very nice broth. I didn't realize that was called an auger, thanks for the info. In my mind, augers are what's use to transfer grain from either the combine to truck or from grain bin to the truck. haha
