@Squigga 123 He's buying used shoes to begin with and with these kind of shoes, a little wear will massively depreciate them. He's probably leaving them in the mud for just a couple of minutes, cleans them up and either resells or maybe gives them away. These shoes no doubt go on to lead a normal life just as they otherwise would have.

Wealthy people have larger sums of money to work with, but it's still a finite amount. And what a person does in this one case is probably a good reflection of what they do in others. A person making bad financial decisions rarely stops at the $3000 shoes.

Some people are fine, just the interest on their money covers expensive purchases. There are a lot of vastly wealthy people out there, not me, but there are plenty.

You wouldn't know they had a lot of money unless you checked their bank accounts or stock portfolios. My brother would be a good example. He probably spends less on shoes and clothing than I do. And while he has a nice car and boat, he probably paid less for them than most factory workers would. He usually pays cash for everything and doesn't even own a credit card. He'll spend money on things, but only if he sees utility in doing so. He doesn't waste money on anything frivolous. And my other relatives who are in the millionaire or multi-millionaire range are the same way. They aren't the mega wealthy, but they represent the majority of wealthy people. But then you hear about someone winning the lottery and blowing the money in a matter of months. And actors or sports stars earning tens of millions of dollars and then being broke as soon as their career ends. Sometimes before that. Those are the people who buy the most expensive items. Shoes, clothing, cars, houses, boats, etc.

Proud Filipina here! I found some Nike Air Max 90 Crepe's (not as amazing as the Warhawk) at the bins in LA. The midsole has some crumbles so I need to swap the bottoms so instead of selling them as beater shoes and since it is the 30 year anniversary of the Air Max 90's, I'm going to try to fix them. Now to find a pair of size 9 Air Max 90's soles/bottoms! Yahoo!
