Lightbulb moment- When repotting a plant, I have never thought to place the plastic pot inside the soil of the new container to make an impression! You probably didn’t even know you were giving us more tips! Love the styled cabinet and of course your sweet baby girl who is growing so fast! Have a wonderful day!❄️
I love watching the way you adjust when a project isn’t going the way you expected. You don’t show any frustration, it’s just, “well, that wasn’t going to work, so this is what I did instead.” Just some life lessons from Laura that you probably don’t even realize you’re teaching.
I had a cabinet exactly like that. It was my great grandma’s radio cabinet. And, yes, the sound came out of the back. I converted it to a bar cart and gave it to my niece as a wedding present!
I believe I remember with those cabinets you just left the doors open while you were playing the music. I want to see if everybody stops putting things on The island and counter Such a hard habit to break. I enjoyed this because I have a cabinet to make more usable and you have given me ideas. Thank you.
I am so happy to have a glimpse inside your beautiful home. It’s so cosy and warm. I love it. The little cabinet looks so nice with the pretty fabric back. I never would have thought of that. I enjoyed ALL of this video, including sweet Samantha!!
Samantha is adorable….she is going to learn to swing open the doors of that cabinet and explore its contents very quickly 🤗. Loved the daffodil arrangement.
Laura, I absolutely love how you are able to see the beauty and value of antiques. Although it took a little elbow grease on your part (we all know that you are not afraid of hard work!), your cabinet turned out beautifully! Thank you for being such an inspiration for us, and we love your beauty, inside and out! 🤗💕
I love the fabric at the back of this cabinet! And how brilliant to make the exact right size hole using the plastic pot the plant came in - I will remember that one! And the lamp is perfect. Nice job!
The cabinet turned out nice. Samantha Grace is adorable. She looks so much like Benjamin. She just melts my heart. Her and big brother are just precious.
I love it when Samantha Grace shows up ❤ The cabinet turned out amazing. I would add 2 more baskets for the other shelves. That way you could just pull out the basket to go through the mail. And I never would have thought to use fabric. That is so beautiful and unique. Thank you once again for sharing with all of us.
> Cabinet - Well done! I agree with Julie - 2 more baskets inside the cabinet. But... the Basket of mittens > 'inside' < the cabinet will never work. lol. (unless those are extra mits) Opening up that little cabinet is too much work, every time you/they come in the house. I tried the same thing with a cabinet. But more baskets would come in handy...a few Tall round pretty wicker baskets ...down the stairs? or by the coat hook? The children taking off their hats and mits and throwing them in a basket near the coat-hook. One for hats / for mits / scarfs and one for other 'stuff.' Maybe a Darker wicker to match the stairs and blend in. I have a Set of Tall/Round (3 different sizes 25"/20"/15" ) tallest about 2 feet tall that sit on the floor in my foyer. They work perfect for all kinds of winter and outdoor 'stuff' that accumulates by the door. (when you don't have a mud room) > Large square / rectangle deep basket may 'fit' better, if you want to put them on your stairs next to the coat hook. Kids are in the house, you are not going to be able to 'hide' all their things....and why should you.....? Daffodils are lovely. Aesthetically, I think Terra-Cotta Pots are the ugliest of all the 'pots' you can have in the house. It's mostly the Color. I am not fond of Orange. ( and Laura has access to so many beautiful pots ) The Orange color doesn't 'match' anything in the house. (okay outdoors) They can become moldy and usually discolor.
You really spruced-up the inside of that cabinet - so beautiful and functional now! I think it is a radio cabinet - the speaker would be inside, probably covered by fabric; the doors would remain open when in use. Obviously a previous owner rigged the inside to suit their needs. The drawers look like drawers from an old sewing machine cabinet. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed it.
I kept wondering about this myself...the vinyl covered shelves and the holes in the bottom for wires...but the little drawers were throwing me off :-) Thanks for the good ideas.
My kitchen island is a catch all , too , I move things off and a few days later it’s back to before. Hope you have better luck, love 💕 your channel,Laura
This is someone's creation. The 3 little cabinets are from a sewing machine it looks like. The white paint really spruced it up makes it crisp & cheery. Nice job! 🪡🪴🗝📲
Have you perhaps considered moving the lights further inside the cupboard / cabinet ? I am guessing it would be darker for them to work more reliably? Anyway i absolutely loved this little transformation! Excellent job Laura!
Good idea. We bought ours from home depot and they work great in the pantry cabinet! We mounted ours on the underside of each shelf, further back. You do have to change batteries, but well worth it.
Your generosity and kindness in sharing so much of your gardening knowledge with us viewers, has an impact on our own home gardens and lives. I am so appreciative! I am among all your viewers that are supremely grateful. It is a huge gift. Thank you guys!
Laura you crack me up. “Let me buy a hutch for us to lay all of our odds and ends on” and then decorates the top with so much stuff, you can’t lay anything else up there. Lol. I love that you decorate your tabletops the same way you do a container! Stuff it full!!! 😄😄
I love seeing the shopping trips and how you incorporate pieces into your home. Very inspiring! I may have to check out a few shops around the area for my own project piece. Thank you so much for taking us on your journey.
❄️So great to share this time with you, Laura, and all GA friends. I’m so glad to be able to enjoy you on my days off work, coffee in hand, awaiting the impending storm coming to southeast Michigan. Thank you for the motivation to get something done in my own home today! Stay well everyone ☃️❄️💙
From your GA friend over here in Southwest Mi, batten down the hatches.. it’s ugly out there! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ on a brighter note, that means the Groundhog has not been scared by his shadow & spring is definitely on its way 😉☀️🌱
Another SE MI fan here. Not as heavy a snow as predicted, so relaxing watching GA. Little cabinet ideal place for kids stuff, they can access it themselves!
Oh. Birch branch decoration is awesome. I have a big birch tree in my back yard. This spring I'll give it a try. Thank you so much, especially for your baby's sweet kiss.😍😍😍
Someone mentioned this was a radio cabinet. I agree. All the interior shelving was plywood and not original. Love what you did with it! And thanks for the tip with potting the plant by putting the plastic container in the soil. Genius!
The cabinet turned out so nice and functional! And I, too, noticed how ingenious it is to use the plastic pot to form the well in the potting soil to mold a perfect fit for the plant’s root ball when replanting it. ( I seem to recall you giving this tip in the past) I’m kind of surprised to see you still top dressing with moss after voicing your suspicions that it may be the source of the fungus gnats. But it is definitely pretty. 🤣💚💚💚
I just love going to bed watching what’s happening in the GA world and today was gorgeous mostly because of the Gorgeous Samantha Grace… smiling from ear to ear… thank you so much for sharing. BTW I’m going to sleep because I’m in Queensland Australia 🇦🇺😊
I have a radio cabinet that is similar in shape to that cabinet and the top lifts up when in use. I have another that the doors just stay open when the radio is in use. Also I'm so glad I'm not the only person who pairs lamps with their houseplants :)
Perfect video to watch while the snow is falling and the wind is blowing in central Illinois. I love the makeover of the hutch. It's a beautiful piece and now functional for your family. Thank you for sharing Samantha Grace with us. Those baby toes --- kiss them every chance you get!
I love watching your videos. I've been watching your videos since day 1 and seeing your family grow makes me so happy. I love that Benjamin likes to help his dad on the tractor and stuff. I feel like little miss is gonna be just like your Laura she's gonna be a flower girl and want to help you garden. You guys are soo blessed to have such a wonderful family. Best wishes and have a blessed day.
Oh my goodness... Samantha Grace is so darling and she looks just like her brother Benjamin 🥰❤️🤗 I love the cabinet and how it turned out! Bright happy yellow daffodils... can't go wrong anywhere in the house 😊
I LOVE the cabinet, and it looks so nice there!! Laura you have brought the beautiful piece back to life! ♥️♥️♥️ How the daffodils turned out, WOW, I LOVE the branches wrapped around the bottom!!!! 😍😍😍 AND the best for last is SAMANTHA GRACE!! such a doll baby!! 💜
Love the cabinet and the decor! How many of you had rewind Laura talking about the daffodils? When Samantha Grace entered the picture all my attention was on her!!! It’s always an extra treat when we get to see Benjamin and Samantha Grace! Thank you Laura and Aaron for sharing your beautiful home and family with all of us!!
Nicely rescued and renovated antique cabinet for your hall type area. Good you added the little motion censored lights on the interior, good looking fabric backing, and the gorgeous plant on the top. Now you have a nice attractive place to hide stuff as you enter your home.
I love what you did with your cabinet. It looks perfect right there. And the daffodils are really cheerful. Sweet Samantha Grace is a ray of sunshine. Love seeing her. ♥️
I just love your videos that show a little of everything....plant repotting, refinishing a piece of furniture, decorating a corner in the kitchen, home life with one of your beautiful babies! Excellent ❤️
Music so chil in this episode. Love it. The cabinet has turned out really nice. Thanks for continuing to show us all of your projects and updates and maintenence
Samatha grace is soooo adorable. My almost 2 year old laughed with her watching this video. Great job with the hutch, right up my alley. And the arrangement is a beautiful celebration of spring! Love all the ways we show the earth our love. ❤️❤️
I am glad someone, somewhere is thinking Spring. We are in the dead of winter here in Canada. Love the lightbulb moment too! Who knew you could use the old pot to make an impression. I love watching you plant. I get so many tips along the way. Thanks for sharing.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. I would have dusted the top and called it a day! You made this cabinet go from beautiful to absolutely gorgeous! And that arrangement!
Daffodils are lovely. Reminded me we had flats of these at services when my Dad passed that we gave to his neighbors. Ten years later they continue to brighten many gardens in the little village in which he was born and lived for nearly 90 years . Thank you for you and your team's great work.
I love the antique shopping trips with you and your mom, but these videos showing us how you used the pieces were so great! I love to watch you incorporate them into your home. Such an inspiration! I have never thought of repotting the purchase of flowers like that. Look how your baby girl has grown! Really enjoyed this group of videos!
This is the sweetest video ever! I loved every moment of it and esp Samantha Grace’s participation! And today is MY birthday 🥳 so I am calling this a good omen for the year!!! Thank you Laura for including us in your beautiful home, and family & life. You truly have blessed so many of us who love and adore you & your channel! 😊♥️ P.s. cabinet (chefs kiss) & the top looks great with the decor!
I just loved this video! The cabinet looks like it was made for that spot and Samantha Grace is soooo precious! I totally agree with books and plants tucked in when decorating. We are lamp people as well. ❤️🌿📚
I love the daffodils. They were my Dad's favorite flower. As a matter of fact they were the only flowers in the front yard and only roses in the back yard. My parents were not big on landscaping. My mom was hardly ever outside..have to save that fair skin haha. But my Mom did plant a Magnolia tree in the backyard and (what we called) a China berry tree in the front yard. The two messiest trees in the south possibly. And of course we had the old sweet gum tree and mimosa tree also. Plenty if raking for us kids 🤣.
That is a great piece of furniture. Love the detailing. And I think you should end every video with Samantha Grace blowing us kisses. Such a living doll!!! 🥰
Laura you are so creative - love the fabric touch at the cabinet's back - I never would have thought of that! I'm motivated to go out and get some spring flowers to sweeten up my living room with color. And that Samantha Grace - so sweet. Thanks
Oh my goodness - it looks SO MUCH BETTER without that black vinyl lining! And what a difference it made to put that pretty fabric in the back! Once again, you have inspired me to DIY..... :)
You made those two projects look so easy! Must be your "can-do" attitude. Both look great! As others have mentioned, Samantha Grace will make good use of that cabinet & all the goodies inside.
This gives me the confidence to NOT pass by a furniture piece that doesn’t look absolutely perfect at the thrift store. Moral of this video: 1. If the doors close neatly and the alignment is good, pick the furniture. 2. You can fix anything as long as you have the vision and some basic tools. 👏👏excellent job! Thank you ☺️
