I have been meaning to do a video on a similar topic. I recently bought some imitation berkey filters and they are not good at all. Its important to make sure that you get the originals or at least see the third party water tests on what they remove. Good stuff brother.
Thank you Yeah we have some of the hardest water in the country.. Its Highly mineralized. I do pre filter first though a couple other filters i made but needed to clean my alexapur I will give it a go Thanx
I have had my Alexapure water system just shy of 1 (ONE) year and my filter has stopped working. According to the description, the filter should last approximately 5,000 gallons. I estimate that we use 2.5-3 gallons per day. 3 gal * 338 days = 1,014 gallons! Nowhere close to 5,000 gal. If the estimate for the longevity is so off base, I have to wonder how accurate the claims for the purity of the filtered water are. When I called customer service about my problem, I was told that the filter should last 6-8 months. WHAT?!? Extremely disappointed!!! And a new filter is NOT CHEAP!
My recommendation is to back flush the filter after cleaning it using a clean Scotch-Brite pad. The life of the filter also it’s going to depend on how dirty the water is. 1000 gallons is nowhere near what it should if it’s eating clean tapwater though I agree. I am at roughly 3000 gallons.
No problem. I’m watching the one you sent me. I don’t have a scale issue so it’s good to know how to clean it. Mine dripped fast because I had just filled the core it slows after a bit.
@@leatherneckprepper4477I See, Thanks. If you have a slime issue this will take care of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XF3mFBF3-2Y.html
@@leatherneckprepper4477 ...also you could try throwing a couple silver coins or something silver in each compartment as an experiment, the outside portion of the Alexa pure filters the ceramic part are silver impregnated, would be a neat experiment.
have been using my Alexapure for quite a few months... I noticed in the top there is about 4-5 inches of water that doesn't filter down into the bottom... Alexapure said this is supposed to be like that.. Has everyone noticed that ????
@@leatherneckprepper4477 Oh.. I see.. So about 2-2.5 inches left at the bottom is totally normal then...Well thank you so much for your expert advice on this... And for responding so quickly...
I'm here looking for an answer lol maybe u can help my alexa pure water filter is taking hours to just filter 1 inch of water. Then it will all of a sudden do half the tank in an hr???? Am I doing things something wrong??
Is it doing it consistently? Or has it only happened once or twice. According to Berkey, a slow drip to a small stream is normal with a filter. I’ve never used my Alexa pure just because I have not needed to replace filters in a while. Have you done the dye test? Make sure your filter is not defective or damaged. If you have two filters, make sure you do them one at a time. Red mckormick dye only. No generic. Also, maybe it’s not primed properly.
Thank u watched the video in its entirety and I'm going to try to flush it. This is the second filter the first did it also then I got a new cannister because first patriot said it might have to do with the air tight seal between both chambers ...ugh lolol I'm going to try the flush thank u !
