Cleaning your HP Color Laserjet CP5225 Series Printer / Big Ghost 

Thanks for covering such an old printer :) We are more into technical drawings than prints on different materials, but thanks for tagging the printer name, it helped us, as well I did not know that you can do so much more than just print sheets with a laser printer! Were having streaks. When took it apart I could see that the belt had some lines of leftover toner. Cleaning that of with isopropyl alcohol (99%) made those streaks on prints go away. At least for now. There was some usage lines on the belt, so it may need replacement at some point, but it works fine for now :)

Thank you for this video! I am having colored streaks appear along the top of the first few sheets every time I print. After a dozen pages, it will clean itself out, but then it will happen again the next time I print. The cleaning cycle doesn't fix it, because it will happen again if the printer has been sitting for a while. On page 244 of the HP 5220 service manual, it says if the problem is "Toner smears appear on the media." then the solution is to "Clean the fuser inlet guide." I will clean the areas you recommend in the video, and the fuser inlet guide is one of them!

Thank you Ghost White Toner for the nice tutorial. Is it possible to clean the transfer belt at home or should I buy a new one. I mean a really should try to save up some money but again I do not want to destroy the printer. Do you have any success or do you reccommend cleaning it at home? Thank you.

I am getting 2 vertical narrow, 75mm wide faint strips on my 11x17 color graphics prints on my HP M750 (CP5225) laser printer. The faint strips run top to bottom on 11x17 size paper, meaning the strips run in line with the paper travel. I've replaced the toners, inspected everything, done cleaning cycles, etc... and it persists. It seems as if it is the black that is the omitted color in the 2 strips of faintness. The strips of faintness edges are not abrupt. The problem started after the printer took 2 pieces of 11x17 paper during printing and they were staggered, one a bit ahead of the other. The fuser was loosened and the pages pulled out. It printed perfectly prior to the incident... Any ideas for me?? Is the actual laser unit lens itself dirty? It is driving me crazy. I've searched and searched and I cannot find where the actual laser unit lenses affects the rollers, imagery, belt, etc. etc... Diagrams show the laser unit located beneath the toners... and the belt, of course, being above the toners. No lenses are visible anywhere inside the emptied printer with all consumables removed...! the Printer makes shadows, also i changed all 4 colors cartridges same problem, when I print the cleaning page it comes out black with a very slide yellow bar at the end, cleaned it very well and still have same problem, any help ?

Hey, I was wondering if you guys would happen to have a recommendation for some problems I'm having with this printer. I've been doing foil art prints and bought this specifically because it takes a thick grade of cardstock and I wanted something that could do A3. For starters, I have the HP MFP 127 and was able to get it working with my process very easily. I just do the basic print in mono, then put through a laminator with toner transfer foil. So, two problems I'm having... 1) the foil is extremely patchy when I try to get it to stick to the toner, but the toner isn't necessarily lifting off the paper either, and 2) tray 1 really struggles to get cardstock to go through. I've been using 177gsm. The printer will grab the sheet and pull it in, but it seems to struggle at the next rollers. If there's a small stack of cardstock, it'll go through (albeit, the printing is next centered on cardstock), but if it's a single sheet of cardstock, it'll cause a paper jam. I went ahead and cleaned the whole thing and it's honestly in great condition. Hardly any dust, very clean, and the rollers/paper pulls had a nice springiness to the rubber. Some of the smaller rollers felt slightly lubricated, but I don't know if that's normal or not...? The printer itself has only had 5000 prints on it, so it hasn't seen much in the way of high usage. Would love to hear your thoughts because this was by far the most cost effective option for me and my needs, thanks!
