Another Timelapse!
I’m very proud of this one. I put a lot of care into this piece.
Some of you have requested that I list every single product used and I will try my best but I show it in the videos for a reason. You can pause and google the brand name very easily. When I began epoxy art and geode art I didn’t have a single resource finding products and I had to do some trial and error. I don’t mind sharing my personal favourites but you guys… experiment with other stuff too. My way isn’t the only way. Be adventurous. These are unique pieces, you cannot recreate them but maybe be inspired by them.
Most artists will not share their knowledge and hard earned secrets. I don’t mind doing that but I can’t hold your hands the entire way through. Be nice to me and yourselves. Take a chance, wing it, or pay for classes if you need a step by step how to. Enough of the salty, let’s get into the products.
As always, I used a wooden panel as my canvas.
I used crushed glass (clear gold), crushed glass (black), crushed Quartz and course Quartz to create dimension. I added clear crystal Quartz points and crystals.
I used Meyspring pigments to create this piece.
I used clear to sprinkle on my crystals (as usual), charcoal black as my black tone and I mixed charcoal black with silver druzy to create a Smokey grey instead of a silver.
I detailed using gold paint, gold leaf and paint pens.
I show which ones I choose to use but there are a lot of options. Obviously try your local Michaels or art shops or even google to find them online.
I used Magic Resin as my epoxy.
Music by LuKremBo.

Hello! Love your work and have watched several videos. The thing I would find most helpful is telling us or putting in the video or description how much epoxy you are using at all times for all the colors and stages of the pours
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
That you for the advice, I’ll try to be more helpful for stages! As for quantity of epoxy it’s honestly dependant on brand. It’s always 1:1 ratio mixing and your art should always be your own, do your own thing and you’ll need different quantities of epoxy!

I want to try making videos in the future explaining but truthfully you can learn epoxy from a ton of different courses available. These are Timelapse’s and not classes. I didn’t have these available from anyone when I started so even the visual without explanation if you’re experienced with epoxy it’s easy to understand. I would maybe start with coasters and small mold work to learn epoxy first and then jump to this, lots of experimenting before pouring a lot of expensive product. That’s how I learned the first year or so :)

In the beginning you were pouring something over the scattered Stones in the middle, could you please share what that was? Beautiful artwork!
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
Hey there! Thanks so much! It’s just clear epoxy. Epoxy sticks so much stronger than glue so to lightly drizzle clear over stones or glass will seal everything in as strong as possible. Hope this helps :)

Amazing! I’m thinking about doing this on an island in the kitchen- for cleaning purposes etc. - can or is all the glass particles covered in resin? If not- would covering them all (to be able to be wiped clean etc) change the look dramatically and/or world u recommend it?

You just drizzle epoxy over them lightly and make sure the base has enough to lock it in! Epoxy is super strong!

@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
Thank you so much! I use wooden panels always! The epoxy and the crystals are very heavy and it levels the best on wood and illuminates the chance of the canvas snapping and breaking. Hope this helps! (I get the panels from Curry’s art supply)

Se le pone resina sobre las piedras?
@Pinklollipop85
@Pinklollipop85 2 года назад
I’ve seen this done on wood and canvas. Which one would you say is best?
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
Always wood! If you feel the weight of the crystals, glass and epoxy it’s very heavy. I’ve seen some clever artists with canvas use epoxy on both sides to help the canvas even out. If you add it to a canvas it levels in the middle and it’s hard to get an even coat (mostly with larger ones) when I started I used canvas and realized how easily they can break once you’re adding such a high amount of weight to them. I also would rather use wood instead of coating both sides because epoxy is super expensive.

Hi I just came and search across bout geode resin and saw yours. Love your art, looks gorgeous ❤️ Btw, may I know is that a full direct record? Because as I know, epoxy has its own curing time and I keep wondering won't it get sticky ruin the whole project when you apply acrylic paint marker and gold leaves with brush. Sorry for much questions

It’s art, be creative! There are no rules, just wherever you see your piece going! Sometimes we are hard on our own work and others would not see the flaws you’re seeing. I always see so many flaws in my work. Maybe try repositioning yourself on an angle you’re more comfortable on, hope this helps!

I tried the gesso/gold flake line technique and it was an EPIC fail! The gold sheets stuck to the canvas and I couldn’t get it off!! The brush away didn’t work at ALL. I had to sand and re-pour. Is there a technique to this?
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
You have to wait at least 2 hours for it to dry to a tacky texture! I’ve had so many fails with it as well, and even some pieces I’ve finished have had it happen and it’s taken me hours to get it off! :( I don’t do that technique as much anymore because it creates a lot of work
@rhondamcc1
@rhondamcc1 2 года назад
Could you hot glue all the rocks or is it better to do just the big ones?
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
There would be no need to hot glue the small ones. Epoxy is basically counter top, it’s stronger than glue. The only reason I do the big ones with hot glue is to keep them in place as it takes 12-72 hours to cure epoxy. In the first 12 hours it would hold but too much risk for the larger crystals to collapse or move in unwanted positions. Hope this helps!

What was the white stuff you used to apply the gold leaf?
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
It's called Mixtion Relief by Pableo. It's a glue that takes 2-3 hours to dry to a tacky state. You always want to wait until its tacky to apply the gold leaf or it smudges, once its absolutely ready you can dust the remainder off. You can also buy tougher gold leaf immitation paper that you just place down and pull up and it only sticks to the glue surface as well!

Very pretty and well thought out. I have to say the music was so bad, throughout the whole video, I had to turn the sound off. Sorry, but a horrible short and repetitive piece of flat music effected the way I viewed your beautiful piece.
@EllePours
@EllePours 2 года назад
I pay for music licensing monthly in my newest videos. Thanks for the feedback, it was very hard to not be copyrighted. (This video is copyrighted even after my attempt) I typically turn the sound off for these types of videos and didn’t realize until my comment section lately how many people truly listen to the music. Definitely learned my lesson (still navigating this RU-vid thing!)
