This was a good episode, I enjoyed hearing will Willis unhinged opinion of forged in fire and also learning more about him. It was a pleasure to have met will when I was a competitor on FiF it is very true that you are judged now on how you did on forged in fire and that’s silly. Wills encouragement after asking me to leave the forge after the final weapon testing, reminds me from time to time to keep pushing on. After watching this and listening to some of what he’s gone through I have gained a deeper and greater respect for him. Good luck will.

@Kymberlee_W
@Kymberlee_W 3 года назад
I'll be the first to admit that quite often it's a whole lot less about forgiveness than our capacity to push things aside and either grey rock or just not rock that boat at all. I'll give you something to think about: have a watch of the first hour as he spoke about his, obviously painful, childhood. He twitched & fidgeted, played with his rings, shifted in his seat, and clutched at his own arms. Whether these were self soothing movements or just outlets for all that emotion, I can't say. What I can say, is that during the second half of the show, he calms down, he's slower, more deliberate, and far more in control as he speaks of his adult career (and life he has control over vs the previous hour when he was speaking about a time he had zero control). Personally, I think the difference is pretty marked but I know what to look for in adults who were abused as children, how they deal with it, and how it manifests.

I was 18 when I joined the Marines in 1997. I had good mentors growing up but I needed the discipline. I spent 8 years (4 more due to 9/11) and it provided direction. I could have done 12 more but after my time I realized I wanted to finish college and while I loved the marines, I wanted something different. My dad was a Vietnam vet from the 82nd Airborne. His father was in Patton’s 3rd Army. It’s funny how complex our relationships can be with our fathers. We all have different experiences and I’m glad I have mine. I enjoyed listening to this episode.

My father most likely had BPD, and my long-ago ex (also military) has BPD, so hearing Wil talk so openly about this illness that carries so much stigma, and gets nearly no attention for the males who suffer from it...it just means so much. This is such an important conversation to have. It's a brutal condition for the people who have it and for the people who love them. It's a condition often born of trauma and it's so under-treated. Listening to his story hit very close to home. BPD folks tend to be the most charismatic, genuinely talented, brilliant, big hearted folks...but with a dark side that destroys everything around them no matter how they secretly wish it wouldn't- without the proper help to mitigate that side. Wil, if you somehow see this comment- I commend you beyond words for speaking on this, and for getting treatment. To lead by example on this front may be the most impactful or healing thing anyone could ever do. BPD desperately needs a voice, and especially a male voice to shed light, support, and treatment while dispelling the stigma that it's mostly a woman's illness, or "untreatable". I wish you all the best. Thank you.

I have really enjoyed watching Wil throughout the years on various shows, and after hearing why he left, it makes me respect him even more. @GettingAIDS BeatsGettingWOKE he wasn’t fired. I think he voiced his opinion too much, and it seemed Wil was unwilling to compromise to remain on the show. For the record, I agree with Wil. The FIF judges were constantly talking about combat effectiveness and capabilities while they themselves know nothing about combat. Wil is no stranger to the army, yet is not a combat veteran and has voiced that in multiple interviews. I believe he finds it insulting for the judges to insinuate that these weapons will be effective in combat, when they are not the subject experts in that field. Also, he obviously took issue with Ben Abbot being a judge, Ben having won the show twice, he felt that Ben is too biased to be a judge. That the show needed to maintain its integrity if it’s to be considered a legitimate contest amongst smiths.

I've been a fan of Wil Willis since Special Ops Mission. I loved that show and hated when it was no longer being made. Seen various other things he's done over the years but never really cared about Forged in Fire, they could have been baking cakes for that matter, same shit, different toilet. Couldn't wait to hear this after Andy announced it. Keep bringing the awesome guests Andy, you're Cleared Hot!

Me either. But it did not take into account the fact that Jesus predicted his death and resurrection. But still interesting.

Wil fails to take the Shroud of Turin into account. The image on the shroud is a photographic negative, but photography wasn't even invented until the 1800's. Carbon dating is flawed, but it can be historically traced back to the 1300's. Plus there is no paint, ink or dye on the shroud. Only some type of high tech energy could have created the image. Fairly conclusive evidence that Jesus was raised to life after being dead.

@GettingAIDS BeatsGettingWOKE My mother, who is your average southern white lady. She's a lousy cook because her mother was raised in an orphanage & wasn't taught to cook. Granted, mom got better at it as I got older but my dad like liver & we were poor so we ate what was cooked - didn't matter if it was over done or even burnt.

Wil Willis is the reason I'm joining the army and going for PJ eventually, ever since I was an 11 year old nobody watching spec ops missions on the military channel, I knew something in me was ready to risk it all, and its finally come to fruition 14 years later. This interaction only cemented this. Thank you Wil Willis, for your service and your badass attitude
