Hey Andrew, I studied your area extensively in college for my Geology degree. The cool red/green alternating rock layers Sam found are most likely from the Oneonta or Walton formations. They are upper Devonian in age, roughly 360-380 million years old. At that time the Catskills region was a huge river delta. The deposits carried by the large network of rivers and streams got buried deeper and deeper and eventually became the Sandstones, Shales, and Conglomerates you find around your property. The red rocks are red because the water was shallow when those sediments were deposited, allowing exposure to air which oxidated the iron-bearing minerals and turned them red. The green layers were deposited when the water level was higher and no exposure to the air was possible, producing an iron-reducing environment causing the green coloration.
Did anybody realize that Andrew is waiting to give us the blast video as a Christmas present next weekend? I can't wait to see that, then see that rock crusher in action. Happy Holidays to all especially you Andrew!
Oh yes! Blasting vids are awesome, that’s going to produce a whole heap of material for the new crusher. Great to see the dirt boss on your property too 😬
77 years old whoever you are I can sympathize with you cause I had a lung operation earlier this year and yes it is extremely painful and I also watch a lot of Andrew's videos. His videos are better than a movie.
Andrew, I have been enjoying your videos for years, your videos (and audio) are excellent. I am age 75, and also from up your way, Saratoga Springs, now living in GA retired 10 years. Your videos (and audio) are excellent, and so diversified!!! Now with your partner Sam, your videos are even better. She compliments you, and goes right to work, even down in the mud, climbing on & under your huge construction equipment, handling the tools like a pro that she is. I grew up doing projects like your early days; as a teenager fixing bicycles, old tube-type TVs, lawnmowers, then working on cars, trucks & motorcycles. Went on to college but started learning and fixing houses on the side. I kept remodeling & flipping houses for the next ~50 years, doing my first house in 1970. In 1975, I designed & built a contemporary post & beam home from scratch in Massachusetts. Not on the scale of your castle which I think is awesome. Keep your projects & videos coming, I look forward to each new video 👍. And I can’t wait to see what you are going to build on your mountain top.
@@kobelcofan I saw it in the comments of one video, they said Sam mentioned about it on her channel. Furthermore if you go to the video "Installing a bulldozer sprocket", at 11:24 in the chat replay he says he is single. I think it's unfortunate as I liked Sam but obviously it's Andrews own decision and shouldn't be swayed by the people watching.
The next several videos of this series are going to be insanely amazing. Thank you, Andrew. One year from now we will be watching Andrew build a series of bunkers deep into the underlying bedrock of the mountain.
I smile every time I see the “White Oak Equipment” Logo on the Kubota mini ex. They are based right here in Fredericksburg, Va and have recently been sold to McClung Logan. I think of all the great people that have worked there in sales, service, parts and rental. It just makes me wonder how the Kubota ended up in Upstate New York….small world I guess. Thanks for another great video. Merry Christmas to all!
what I love most about Andy's videos - no badgering to subscribe or click thumbs up or share or bloviating or silly intro's...his content is all that needs to be said. bravo.
I can't wait for the BLAST! I hope I live long enough to see what amazing castle Andrew builds up here (I'm 65 now). I enjoyed watching him build his first castle! Thank you Andrew Camarata for all of the years of filming your good work! What an amazing man in a world of Snowflakes... Andrew; When you get too old to work this hard, you should run for Governor of NY. God knows your state needs someone like you running it! And you would win hands down.
I believe this blast has already been posted, unless this is a second explosion. Maybe a month or two ago he posted a 6(ish) minute "blasting rock" video. A lot of his videos are posted out of order, even the castle build videos were. I can only keep them straight by looking at how big, or little, Blue is.
I never knew I needed an excavator until I started watching Andrew, so for the lack of funds I purchased a subcompact tractor with a backhoe, it is a good machine but it turns out I am pushing it to the extreme limits and need something bigger so I am going to purchase a mini excavator anyway, so instead of being in debt for the excavator alone I have a tractor too …thanx Andrew I never knew what debt was till you came along lol
I gotta say, the cinematography in this video was particularly amazing! I really liked the way it was edited and the shots driving the excavator up the mountain in the prime of fall were perfect!
Fantastic upload as per usual Andrew can’t wait for the Big Bang. Last time I was in the US as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers I sent a Tank Spring into the upper atmosphere by placing a half inch plate on top of a vertically mounted French made Off Route Mine. Hope you have as much of a blast as I did at Fort Lewis in Washington. It gets a bit addictive messing with high explosives 😬👍🏼
Love this video. As someone who does lots of green burns like this one of my favorite tools is a leaf blower. Especially when rebalancing the fire it’s so nice to just run that and watch the entire pile engulf in flame!
Watching those two dogs play together makes me want to get another lab for the one I have. He just turned seven this year and still has tons of energy and plenty of friends however coordinating play dates is not easy. They seem so happy together
I've just noticed on the 'Dirt Boss' channel that he's done two road building videos with Andrew: "Building a Road with Andrew Camarata on his Mountain Top". Gives a good look at the work everyone has put in.
Andrew is a boss! The kinda guy you want to be buddies with. Been watchin for years, and it might sound bad, but I like when stuff breaks so I can see him fix it. Lol
Andrew just out of previous machine problems I’ve dealt with, the excavator sounds like it’s struggling to drive and move, sounds boggy. I had a similar issue on a cat. It ended up being the control wire for the pump was broken. If the pump pilot control fails the pump will be at maximum flow all of the time. Which makes every function bog the engine and if you hold long enough will stall engine even when running perfectly. Just thought I could help.
The nice thing about Andrew's RU-vid films is that, despite his great success, he doesn't show his fans any annoying ads. Thank you so much Andrew - that's why I don't want to watch TV anymore. Today with these machines he is not twice as fast and efficient as the average, he is now three times as fast thanks to the team... I wish everyone a happy and peaceful holiday season.
Andrew thank you for finally dropping this video, have watched some of the last ones and it was a bit out of sink, where you had already blasted, and now this one is the before you blasted up there. Thank you for sharing your life with all of here and those of us, like me that has been watching you over the years. Look forward to the next videos.
I would love for you to make a sketch drawing of the area. You could show things like: Here is the quarry, here is the camper, here is the log landing, here is that really steep part of this road, here is the re-routed road etc.
You are an amazing young man when you have a vision You follow through on it you and Samantha work hand-in-hand, You both work very hard love your channel
Hello Andrew and Sam, you guys make an awesome team. I love the variety of different things you do, repairing equipment, building things and of course blowing things up. Looking forward to the blasting video. Sams chariot point of view in the bucket was cool. Watching from Perth Western Australia.😁👍🇦🇺
Nice job Andrew and Sam. Once again you have entertained my retired life with your great content. Happy Holidays to Andrew, Sam and your beautiful Dogs. Someday maybe we can see how the castle interior is progressing if possible. PEACE
I crush all day and almost everyday with a komatsu JG300, the best advice i could give you is to try you absolute best to keep roots and small logs out of the material. They could cause some seriously irritating jams. Keep up the great work man! 👍🏼
We have run into this problem at the quarry, rock may be harder than wood but wood is springy and doesn't break up into smaller pieces. We usually end up with a pile of sticks and roots that the crusher operator has fished out during the operation. The bigger stuff I can fish out at the face when loading the truck.
@@garymurt9112 ive been to a rock quarry a few times and i noticed the "shelves" and haul road are corkscrew shape to the bottom. I was wondering when you get to the bottom do they go back to the top and blast the shelves again making the corkscrew wider and work their way down and around again over and over?
@jeff williams our quarry is very small with only a single ramp straight from the top to the bottom. On the quarry like you described I believe they start at the top and blast each level wider Going down.
I love my Mondays when there is a new Martjin Doolaard and Andrew Camarata video to watch back to back. So nice to see the transparency and similarities between the two creators while both set in gorgeous scenery., one being the Alps, and the other Appalachia.
Everyone puts emphasis on you Andrew and quite likely that's true but from your early days, I could see you were struggling as you needed that special person to help out and Sam saves you hours each day filming, moving gear out of the way, etc and companionship without the bulldust it appears. Congrats to both of you and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@@chrislawver966 Oh ok thats sad . I was wondering about the Excavator driving up the road and thought it had been out for service or repair more likely that as Andrew does all the other stuff.
@george9417 who are you to say I need to watch my comments? So you are also an internet person? You have lost me. I am sorry if I upset Andrew but he could have answered back. So who are u? His best mate or something?😀
