Patience is the key when producing quality beef,,there is a big misconception with producers that the faster they can grow,, the more beef they can produce with a profit,, grass fed beef does take time but the end result is a premium price and wholesome,, natural and healthy beef..

"We are grass farmers." Great way of thinking about it. I'm buying some land near Ft Worth and want to raise cattle the same way.

I had stopped eating beef years ago just because my dad was such a serious beef eater so as a kid I had no choice in eating it...roasts, steaks, steaks, and more roasts but I've recently discovered longhorn beef and decided to try the ground beef and after making some burgers it truly changed my viewpoint about beef especially concerning store bought versus the independent longhorn seller...after finding out about all the positive benefits of this type of beef and then trying the stew meat I can tell you without being too graphic that store bought beef would usually stay in me for at least 3 days but this breed has a completely different digestive time frame for me... I have never written a mini essay about a particular type of beef but after recently losing over 50 pounds and dropping my a1c back to normal I really consider this beef to be an EXCELLENT source of healthy protein and fat and would encourage you to try and find a longhorn source and try it for yourself.

So glad I found this, I've been watching Greg Judy for a while and have been wondering what would be a better cow choice for Texas vs Missouri. I wasn't sure why others choose Longhorns over other breeds and this has me sold on considering Longhorns running full grass/pasture management style.

You can definitely run Longhorns with success. Just do your homework on the cows you select as you would with any other breed and you will be good to go. Regardless of the breed, the characteristics of a fertile, hormonally sound cow that can function on grass efficiently are universal.

Longhorn cattle have less cholesterol than other cattle. This is the only type of beef I eat

I enjoy following Regen Ag ranching as a way to restore grasslands and sequester carbon. Having cool looking cattle is only a bonus. Thanks for sharing.

I really wish this video would have gone longer. I am a disabled veteran that is moving back to Kansas and have been looking into grass feed Longhorns and I would like to know a lot more about waking that soil up and how you rotate or if you do. We have 75 acres and looking to start with 2 Heifers, about three acres is Bluegrass and the rest is Kansas Prairie grass. I would love to learn anything I could to make sure that moving forward we are raising the best beef for our family. Thank you so much and have a great day.

Good luck with the Longhorns. They are a great breed. Do you homework and find breeders or other farms that are using management intensive grazing so you can select cows that can perform on grass. Our experience with Longhorns has been that many of the attributes of the breed have been watered down. Don't let this discourage you, just make sure you do your homework on the cows you buy and you will get everything the Longhorn has the potential to be. Check out our other videos to see how we manage the cows under our system. Management intensive grazing is a core part of what we do.

@@completecarewellness Thank you so much, I have been reading on breeders that are close and you can see some are just looking to breed for horns. I will be looking into your video more, thank you!!!

Mason, are you still on the learning path? I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you are. You should another visit towards the end of March or 1st of April to see our spring babies and green up of grass.

@@trailoffaithranch yes sir! Always on the learning path. Hopefully when we move out a little further from austin to jarrel around august i can get a little land or lease to start running some cattle. Ive also met a couple people out in this area to keep learning with, i mention yall and your place all the time. Yes that would be great, i couldnt believe how great it was in the summer so would be cool to see in the spring and calving.

There is still a lot of great flavor in lean beef, that extra bit of fat you guys nurture makes that flavor burst out i bet!

Can someone post a recipe for the steaks, etc.? I read online that it needs to be cooked low and slow... However, when I search for Longhorn steak recipes, the only thing that comes up is that stupid steakhouse chain...
