the odd little cleo machine is basically a very powerful version of the whistling box mine, it has a wider range of noise and will detonate after a period of time, its power doesn't come from the explosion but from the lure range, essentially clearing an entire neighborhood in one application. very useful for aggressive looting operations.
The Red Talon Workshop consistently repair weapons passively, the reason your *guns* were being repaired very slowly is because there are other *weapons* in your supply box that need repairing such as *melee weapons*. It's doesn't only fix guns, because melee weapons are considered weapons as well. Between the long times you have to wait, those melee weapons were the ones repaired when you didn't know.
Best thing to do with those Cleo weapons is equip your other survivors with them. They won't burn the ammo and will make for some awesome firepower for your bases defenses.
Yeah maybe the blast rifle or shotgun? My community are always kitted out with the Timberwolf or Howitzer. 50 cal plus 1 or 2 with a shotgun (for reliably hitting ferals).
I know the mines will kill ferals, in 1 hit, on the Daybreak mode. If they work the same in Nightmare Mode, then they could be a way to deal with feral hordes.
Reading this comment after fully committing my time to a lethal zone world, and I can say that the best thing out here is still probably the Cleo Drone Strike, I can’t tell you how many times that shit has saved me, especially when killing a plague heart doesn’t remove the plague zombies around you.
In Nightmare Zone it wants *12* ammo for some of these items. I installed this piece of 💩 to see the costs, then straight away uninstalled it. It's about the worst ROI I've seen - and I've seen NFTs...
Before I end every community, I have my Red Talon soldier pack all the Red Talon facilities and mods into his backpack, so that when I create a new community and use him, I start with all the facilities without having to buy them again. Bunkroom is actually pretty good when starting up. If you're limited with outposts and prioritize resource gathering, it's a good way to minimize the space you take for sleeping quarters. Workshop is damn good if you already have it as you start the game. Takes hardly any resources to build, and takes no time at all. Basically workshop level 3, but you don't need knowledge of mechanics to get it. And while it takes its time to repair weapons, it's still something! Watch tower I'm indifferent. I do prefer it to the builder's sniper tower as it's very efficient only takes a small slot. Officer quarters is pretty good. Basically lounge 2 and toilets all in one. Cleo Core is fucking trash. You pay 4000 just to get it, but you still have to pay 500 for each drop? And each drop causes a siege? And you don't get to choose what's in the drop? So I think, if you make it through to unlock everything in daybreak, get the workshop, bunkroom, officer quarters, and maybe the watch tower. But the really undeniably good thing out of this DLC are the soldiers you can recruit. They are expensive, but they come fully geared, and their training, when maxed out, makes them very effective. They can use the moves of swordplay, blunt AND close combat, interchangeably. They have the gunslinger skill, and stealth. My soldier has such good cardio she hardly ever needs cardio boosts, even against hordes. She can run while crouched infinitely. She also spots all the places to look for loot the moment she gets inside, so I never waste time looking around.
yeah theyre way overpowered. If you get a specific mix of traits and hero bonus you can actually have one that never gets fatigued. (Lone vigil and one of the fifth skills gives 120% fatigue reduction IIRC)
Thanks for the video. Helped me a lot with what to use my PP on. I bought the Watch Tower, Workshop, and just spent the rest on adding a red talon soldier to my group. I saved some PP to buy more weapons from a prestige trader.
I hear pretty decent stuff about the RT agents. Lots of people grind Daybreak for them. I haven't tried them myself mainly because of this video. I got burned out of Daybreak rushing for footage.
I thinking most of us players are getting burned out/bored of Daybreak now. When buying a RT Agent, that you can get a refund for your PP, If you don’t dont like how they look when you first meet them. I just hope they release more new content with the Trumbull Valley map realise.
@@anonymoustruth8573 I think Daybreak was just a poorly conceived DLC. It's too small and limited to really take advantage of a horde mode that you're supposed to play a lot.
watching this video again after the new lethal zones got in, I might think the workshop is actually quite good! specially in the early game when everything costs a tremendous amount of materials that you don't have and parts are always valuable. But thats pretty much it, a early game quality of life item you can bring with your survivor to ease your new lethal zone community
They need to have versions for the larger slots, as for the bunkhouse the cot needs to become another bunk bed. With the larger versions giving more bonuses than the basic versions of various facilities, hell I want a red talon military version of All facilities for the aesthetics, and the prestige points needs to be used like how reputation was used in state of decay 1. They also need to give us the ability to earn prestige in the main game, aiding red talon in procedurally generated side missions, and majorly slash the costs that require prestige, making it a side thing that you can either hop in to daybreak when you get low or just aid them in the main game
They'd have to redesign the game's difficulty quite a bit to accommodate RT versions of every facility, and that isn't just an issue with zombies but with the function of beds, supplies and skills.
I have a community of 10 op red talon soldiers and all of these mods and weapons and it definitely makes the game too easy but prestige points is a must to keep this going

I know it's an old video but- the value of the cleo relay is that you can use influence to order a few hundread cleo rounds which makes my cleo heavy sniper spamming soldiers make happy noises

I think the red talon workshop is very valuable for endgame communities because like you mentioned it saves you parts but the scale that it will save you parts is insane, it basically removes a whole mechanic of spending parts to repair, and I never rely on 1 gun or weapon that i need repaired ASAP, personally I always have a bunch of different weapons that i can switch between so the fact it takes some time to repair for free is irrelevant. just the fact that all 100 of my damaged items will be repaired for free is more than good enough but this all only applies for long communities. If trying to beat the game fast then its not worth suffering through daybreak for it. Basically a workshop instant tier 3 that generates me thousands and thousands of parts. Other than that I fully agree with everything else, i don't like the idea of Cleo relay and its constant expense and guns that don't really interest me and I really like the cleo support transmitter as a jail free card.
The RT Workshop's repair speed runs into more limitations on fresh communities where you don't have a ton of weapons to cycle through. I recently tried it in my Nightmare playthrough, and it helped a lot, but it couldn't keep up with the rate of weapons getting damaged. Having a large pool of weapons to cycle through can help with this though.
@@GitGudFox Ah yeah that is true, it takes too long to help much without a decent pool yo cycle through and it probably helps me that I am living at the super sustainable container fort so i have more leeway for downtime.
Even 2 years later and after many playthroughs I still come here for input. Been binging daybreak to save up 7pp and looks like I’m just gonna have a base full of RT specialists lol that watchtower is the coolest prefab. Thanks man for your content as always!

Go to Whitney Field and build the Sniper tower and Red Talon Watchtower while using the CLEO Relay for the siege and simultaneously using the Air Horn for some hilarious results. I forgot to tell you to also use the Artillery Strike, Drone Strike, CLEO Strike, Sniper Tower ability and the Sniper Support while on Nightmare mode. Hint: I did this and the zeds couldn't even come close to my base to get inside!🤣😂
That's part of the reason I chose to make guides on this game. I saw that the wiki was sparse which quickly indicated a demand for knowledge would exist.
Great video. Mostly agree. The red talon workshop I feel is just a better workshop, and I wish you compared the red talon watchtower to the trader watchtower for the large slot. Otherwise great video.
I believe, at the patch level of this video, the Sniper Tower did not also function as a watch tower. It was just a gigantic building that provided the sniper coverage ability. I'm pretty sure I did describe the workshop as a marginally better level 3 workshop though.

Fantastic stuff. Love your content for this game. 2 years too late, but I only started this game this year. Helped me understand some of these facilities. I wonder how much was changed during this time. Once I am content on having played enough non-modded version of this game, I have a mod in mind that will improve the gameplay in areas I find a little lacking. Looking forward to having a huge community too unlike the very capped community cap the base game has. There's a lot this game could improve upon concerning communities. 1 person doing ALL the work (minus building facilities) for everyone is rather stupid. As much as I hate aspects of this game, it has many things I do like. Only reason I keep playing it. Here's hoping 3 will get things done better. Anyway, thanks for the vid.
Wish you could sell daybreak items back to a daybreak trader for prestige. If the items in the drop were sometimes enough to recoup the 512PP activation cost it might make it worth the initial grind to 4000 so you could start farming prestige in the normal game mode instead of in daybreak. Same with the workshop, if you could craft an item for say 100PP plus materials and then sell it to a daybreak trader for 120PP or something like that. Farming prestige would still be a grind but at least then you could do it in either game mode, break up the monotony a bit.
They should of all been like the watchtower. Substantially upgraded facilities to their counterparts. The sniper support is pretty much the big watchtower the builder gets in mod form, more op stuff like that would justify getting them. I maybe could see the barracks having a small base/large numbers use, but most ppl would never consider doing that because it’s more ideal to have outpost beds rather than fill your base slots with them. Too bad there isn’t an upgraded farm or fuel crafting station(I think the still makes fuel tho ?) Or even an ammo resource construct because I don’t think you can do that without outposts. Missed opportunity to add unique stuff that fits a structured military theme as opposed to what ragtag survivor group could do. How about vehicle drop offs, ability to just call in care packages for a fair price, call in backup and you get red talon guys with machine guns for a while.
I have my community members i am not using w/ 50 cals, cleo battle rifles, an smg, Heavy Sniper, and also a RDX stormbringer, they dont use the ammo so my RT watchtower is overpowered
Instead of having a red talon bunk with 5 beds and minus 5 moral, Ill just fucken get the builder luxury bunk with 5 bed and plus 10 moral or however much it is.
One of the things I mostly use the Cleo Core for is crafting Cleo ammo. The cost for that is 512 influence points and a siege to give us 256 rounds of ammunition. Also at the end of the siege, we get 200 influence points back for defeating the horde and other stuff important to the game like the promotion of a character from recruit->citizen and depending on their standing citizen-> Hero. Can also maximize the recovery of influence by killing juggernauts, ferals, and screamers during the siege right outside the gates of the home base which are usually very high in numbers in dread mode or nightmare mode. Usually, my strategy is to get a Cleo Heavy sniper and hang around outside the base to take care of these freaks, and more often than one would think I usually break even if not turn a profit in influence.
I got the cleo relay system with a awesome win and with a cute kid who’s mum clearly doesn’t know what sort of game he is playing or doesn’t care 🙄 he was so hype about the win 😂 best feeling is when you meet a nice guy on chat, you get them a win And you get the last unlockable in sod2, peace to that kid 🥳✌️we need more people like him 😂
I suppose the Red Talon Bunkroom's morale hit could be offset by the Officer Quarters morale bonus, giving you at least 10 beds for the cost of 2 small slots. This frees up all your outposts for whatever, as well as leaving your large slots for the leader buildings or farms, or whatever. The purpose I see of these buildings is they are all multipurpose. They provide the effect of 2 of the normal buildings. The cost of the drop being 512... I think that's a computer thing. Bits and bytes tend to be in groups of 256, and 512 is two of those. So yeah, computer easter egg.
Wish I had watched this before getting the workshop and bunks. Total waste of space but the crafting station is good if you like the deployment mines. Great for keeping away the zombies walking near your base.
The bunkhouse can come in use for some of the larger bases if you're trying to make it self-sufficient since your outposts will be competing for materials vs. beds. I talk a little bit about it in my Meagher Valley bases review, but there are other ways to get around it as well.
Yeah, I love the deployable mine fields. Just wish they gave you more, when you craft them. You only get 2 when you craft them; Yet they require so many items to craft them...😑

I do a few things to maintain my ammunition. 1) I use ammo to make influence. I either build 40mm grenades to sell or build pipe bombs to blow up plague hearts, so my ammo stockpile can wind up sitting around for a while, slowly losing maybe 1 to 2 ammo per day. 2) My leader is always the trader which lets me buy ammunition storage whenever I want. I typically have 9999 influence, so it's not a problem to just buy what I want. I often buy any ammo my neighbors are offering, and I often choose ammo as a reward from quests. 3) Because of my videos, I often change maps, and before I leave maps, I like to destroy all of the plague hearts and loot all the gun shops before I go to continue filling out my gun collection. 4) When I have a serious base that I'm settling down in, I often have 0 ammo loss per day to -1 at the most as I prefer bases that don't have any built-in watch towers so I can place my 1 red talon watchtower down. -1 ammo per day is pretty slow ammo consumption for daily upkeep.
Git Gud Fox awesome thanks for the helpful advice. This may sound dumb but I use a builder boon card for starting my new community. Since the builder gets free water and electricity, I am unaware on how to get those amenities for free. Every time I start a new camp I have to build some sort of generator or claim a electrical/water source as an outpost. I tried getting answers before but I’m unable to do so. Hope this makes sense. Please help me with this issue when you can! I want to use my slots for other facilities. Hope to hear from you soon!
@@Degiac22 Yes, when you beat the game, you unlock that leader's legacy power. When you start a new game, you can pick up to 2 of the legacies you've unlocked by beating the game with that leader. If you want unlimited water and power, you need to beat the game with the builder and start a new community up. Having a builder as your active leader does not give you unlimited power and water. If you want to just play the game in a marathon session, I recommend just speed running the game 4 times for each leader type. The plague hearts can be destroyed pretty easily with a few pipe bombs.

Since Lethal came out and I tested these in several Lethal playthroughs, my views of them have changed a bit as has my playstyle, but it's till pretty good tbh.

I wound up getting gaming burnout from grinding out all the PP and unlocks which caused me to procrastinate on the video quite a bit. I dislike how they start taking away unlocks from you as you get closer to 100% completion. When you get to the point where you have to do 7 waves to get 1 unlock, it started inducing burnout fast.
@@GRAW2ROBZ If I was strolling with 12 community members, I'd probably move into the Container Fort since it gives you +8 beds passively. Then you'd just some outposts to cover the extra members.

I like moving my 12 people to a tiny place then hearing we moved to this shit hole or this place is so small I cant even stretch out my arms without punching somebody in the face. hahahahah I don't have 12 people any more. I exiled two. Now stuck at 10. Cant get two more to join. Might have to exile one more to be down to 9. That's a nice number. Then try and recruit some neighbors that have 3 people.

I saw in your base reviews you used the Cleo relay in many of them, was that because you found it useful after this video or just used it because you had it?
You asked why activating CLEO costs 512 prestige. CLEO has a binary theme to it. 512 is 2^9. One of the CLEO guns has a clip size of 8, so 2^3. I assume most other things follow this rule as well.
It sounds more like coincidence that a gun happens to have 8 rounds in it than an intentional thing. It's like saying a revolver is likely Satanic if it has 6 rounds in its cylinder.
@@GitGudFox well a CLEO clip is 32 rounds, 2^5. I was gonna say it in the previous comment but forgot. And sure, guns capacity may be a coincidence but 512 and 32 being powers of 2 doesn't have to be. It may be a subtle reference.

I just grind for my Longblade and Red Talon Facility Cuz in main game Longblade so op to the point that if you can't find The Bastard of Belleau Wood cuz the most OP sword in game you can use this as second most op sword. And Red Talon Facility is just a free building that need only prefab and you can tear it down with you after you end the community and it need little resource like 4 BM and 4 min for build max level facility (In nightmare!!). Other is just for Red Talon Contractor LOL.

a small tip if you're an idiot like me you can tear down your red talon-related facilities and stuff their prefabs in 1 survivor before completing the final mission do this so you dont throw the prefab in the trash and make it carry over future playthroughs
In update 26 homecoming there is a Cleo relay that uses influence instead but you have to be in Trumbull valley but still it is hard to get 512 (green) or 1024 (lethal) influence in dread and above

Well that's what they're called in Dead Rising too, Prestige Points, and they're even abbreviated as PP, so I honestly figured no one would bat an eyelash.
After saving up like 40k prestige I really want them to add more stuff into red talon, like a military red talon car ✨specialised✨ and made for the zombie apocalypse, maybe even having a gun up top you can get one of you community members to climb into and shoot at stuff ( thus stopping the stupid zombie pop-ups) or yk maybe new weapons but there’s already enough of those and they are all starting to feel the same, I just feel they need something new, something for me atleast to work for 😌👌
They still haven't added CLEO versions of newer weapons that have come out. That's something they could have updated. There is no CLEO heavy weapon for example. There is no CLEO crossbow or CLEO lever-action weapons. They could definitely add some more stuff in, but they haven't touched Daybreak since they rebalanced the point values.

It somehow destroyes every single zombie swiftly( combine the lil shiv with a cleo shotgun and you get into a knock down and execute quickly routine) I decided to try the lil knife yesterday and carried a kid to a win, check the close combs out, might just be better than the cleo mace in daybreak ✌️ easy win
Thanks, this was the first "big" video I attempted. The procrastination delayed it several days further than it should have been published, but the size of it felt like a little kid trying to take a bite out of a Big Mac.
The odd cleo machine attracts zombies for a very long time before exploding but does little damage I'm guessing it's to attract hordes to another location when you just dont want to deal with it
So I've been playing for a good amount of time. I've played all the maps plus the heartland dlc with multiple communities. Needless to say I'm not new to the game or certain strategies. That said...I can't get past the 4th wave in daybreak. I have completed it like twice. Do I just suck that much? Lmao. Great videos though, keep it up.
That's because it doesn't really matter how familiar you are with the base game of SoD2. You need a totally distinctive set of strategies that may deviate heavily from the ways you play the base game to solo Daybreak. Most important though, unless you're going for the achievement, I would never play solo.
Is it worth beating daybreak? The days get longer don’t they? I can get around 350 prestige in 3 days compared to 1000 in 7, and those 3 days are not hard nor are they long.
