Cleopatra Jones (1973) Official Trailer - Tamara Dobson Crime Thriller Movie HD
Cleopatra Jones is a United States Special Agent assigned to crack down on drug-trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. After she burns a Turkish poppy field, the notorious drug-lord Mommy is furious at the loss of her supply and vows to destroy Cleopatra Jones. Mommy uses her connections with bad cops on the force to cause trouble for Cleopatra's friends and set her up for an attack. Meanwhile, Mommy is having trouble with some of her pushers, like the renegade Doodlebug.

...he really was an amazing designer...she..was his main model...i am so glad she did the series...she did not make much money...and she unfortunately wasnt able to make much of a career after the series...but she really is an enduring symbol of black culture...i was really very sad when she died a few years back...she was truly a star....

I was a young man in the 1970s. I remember Tamara and Pam and all the others, and loved it. Not tot throw rain on the parade here, but the only place in the United States that Black men talked like this -- was in the movies. I guess we were so happy to finally see ourselves up on the big screen, we didn't realize that we were being stereotyped in ways that would make Stephin Fetchit blush.

If the only thing that makes the Black stereotypes of the 70s good is your fond memory of them, then the stereotypes of the 1930s (Stephin Fetchit) and 1950s (Amos n' Andy and Rochester) are just as beloved, therefore just as valid and "good". And, for the record, a good many of the same Black stereotypes still exist in movies. Just updated for "modern audiences".

Met her at the black expo in Chicago when I was 11. She was so tall but her hair in the movie was a wig. She had really short afro in real life. I was so surprised as a kid. I did not know any better. lok

Shelley Winters is in this thing, doing her 'bad girl' routine again - her specialty! Almost hard to believe, but it's actually a pretty good film. It did well at the box office and it led to a sequel.

I remember when I had my black friends told me that it will be dope if the next James Bond is a black man? I always asked them why? Beautiful. Unmatched since. Taking nothing away from the other greats, Tamara was special. She could have done anything. Reminds me of the model Donyale Luna, also overlooked, boxed in and unsung. Just to keep everyone fixated on the white beauty aesthetic. It’s too much. Not even the mixed race lookers like Zoe Kravitz or Shahidi can break through. It’s crazy!

This came out the same year 1973 as 'Enter The Dragon' (Bruce Lee) but 'Cleopatra Jones' is a far superior film, even though the fight scenes are not as good as those in ETD.

I saw this Cleopatra Jones yesterday and let me tell you, I loved it. Better movie than Dolemite, Coffy, and the 1st 2 Shaft movies (scared to see Shaft in Africa). Warner Brothers or whoever owns the rights should make a reboot.
