You are a Clerith cornerstone at this point, man. Thank you for all of this. This is the compilation i was looking forward to the most. Probably one of my favorite FF moments of all time. The emotions, the camera work, the music, everything. It's extremely unlikely but i sincerely hope we'll see Cloud and Aerith meet again.

This scene gets me every time! It's so good! And I know a lot of people were disappointed they didn't get a kiss, but it's because they didn't here that makes me even more confident shes coming back. If they did kiss here I might feel more like that could be the end of them, like the final goodbye. But I think they're saving it for last.
Yeah there were some that wanted a kiss here, a few in this compilation even. I was of the exact opposite, I didn't want a kiss here. But I understand and get where the ones wanting a kiss are coming from.
@@Foxheimer Yes! I also love the slow natural building romance. It makes the little moments we got between them so much more meaningful and real. And Cloud just found out Aerith likes him back for sure. A kiss now would be too fast paced imo. I think the real side of Cloud is too shy to kiss her yet. And I don't think Aerith would ever try to kiss him knowing he's not fully himself yet. She wants to find the real him.
The kiss would be more satisfying at the end when they unite with each other and know that a life together is ahead of them. I think it'd the most beautiful way to end all the traumas of ff7 series
I really love the "you'll have to give me a harder one next time". Because the implication is that Cloud knows/wants/expects there to be a next date. In every other instance, it's Aerith dragging him along/asking him on their dates. This is the first and only time that Cloud expresses his desire for them to do this again. It's so heartbreaking.
In German, instead of saying "Told you it was obvious," she says "Well, we haven't done a lot of things together" (as in, there arent a lot of places that could be their spot) and Cloud replied "We could... change that." And I've always loved that too, because he's actively suggesting that they make more memories together like that.

That's how Square Enix works according to an article I read about that topic. The article is in French. This is my favorite scene in Rebirth. And to me it's the emotional climax. Aerith's "death" didn't hit the same for me since in this version it's so mired in confusion and it's not clear if she even DID die, really. Plus we're missing the iconic water burial. But the way she made sure to tell him her feelings and embrace him while knowing Sephiroth was coming for her? Just stealing this brief romantic moment before the end came? The visuals as well as the music swelling as she pushed him back to his world and Sephiroth entered, and we KNEW what was about to happen? Phenomenal.
"It's been fun" 😭😭😭😭😭 This scene really affects my mood for days. I knew it's "just a game", but it really makes me think why it has to be happening for them. They love each other so much. When it's time that they got the chance to confess, they must be separated soon. Really depressing for me.
Right before when we got the close up of Aerith and her eyes were squinting...ooooof you could tell she was on the brink of breaking out in tears there.

Man. This Church scene is just so special for me. Like, within a short period of time, there's just a lot of things that's going on and a lot of things to decipher. I really love the Clerithness of this scene, Cloud's reaction on Aerith's confession is just ahhhh!!!!! And I just love how impactful it is towards the narrative. You won't be able to give the white materia(that has Aerith's memories) to the main timeline Aerith if the church scene didn't happen. It holds so much weight. Gosh, the first time I watched this, I sobbed so hard. Specially when they hugged. It's so bittersweet. And the scene when Aerith presented the white materia is just beautiful!💖 She took Sephiroth head on and saved Cloud from this timeline. Aww. She has so much faith on her beloved. i think she truly does love both zack and cloud but i also think its undeniable that aerith is who grounds and softens cloud from the very start. (and im clerith first but i do love cloti and aerti too)
It's all a matter of perspective. If you go into the story with the idea that Cloud always liked Tifa (and that he thinks about her 24/7, like the majority of the fans of that ship do), then you can interpret the "liking can mean a lot of different things" line as Aerith telling Cloud that she doesn't like him THAT way. You can also interpret this whole date as a recreation of Zack and Aerith's date in CC (although, I think it's because that date is the only one that is part of the main storyline in all of the FF7 lore), going to show that she still has lingering feelings for her ex. If you have a different mindset however, you can interpret the church scene as Aerith implying that she likes Cloud (the loving kind of liking), but doesn't outright say it (or rather she backtracks on her confession) because she knows what's going to happen to her and doesn't want to hurt Cloud. This is how I view this scene but only the devs know the real answer.
@@sageegas7965 Cloud never says that they are friends, he asks Aerith in a question if they are comrades because he isn't sure about Aerith's feelings toward him. I explained this in one of my past videos.
@sageegas7965 he doesn’t say they’re friends. The difference is instead of “yeah, next time” he says “I mean, why not.” It’s a bit less emotional and he doesn’t make eye contact. It’s more of the typical guarded version of Cloud.

Random question: Can anyone confirm if the Japanese version of Aerith’s “thank you” is the same as Yuna’s “I love you” at the end of X? I remember reading many years ago that a better translation for X than “I love you” is “thank you”, and that the connotation in Japanese is that it’s a very powerful thing to say. I bring this up because there’s a lot of similarities in these two scenes. Presumably, Aerith knows this is a goodbye just like it was for Yuna, and both Cloud and Tidus have a visceral reaction where they’re taken aback by what Aerith/Yuna are saying to them. Side note and fun fact: in US polls Cloud and Aerith came out as the #1 and #2 favorite characters in all of FF, whereas in Japan it was Yuna. Apparently a lot of this was due to the translation, and the dialogue in X being even more powerful in Japanese.
I saw an explanation by japanese clerith that the meaning of "Thank you" in this scene is not an actual "I love you". But it's okay since Aerith wanted to make it as vague as possible here (to protect Cloud from suffering).

I dont care how.... i just want to save her :/ one of the points of the remakes and the whispers was that we could "change" the outcome of the previous games if we actually cant... i will be depresed and angry for a long time.... one of the things that worries me most is that the developers said that the 3 game "will lead to Av. Children" so.... if that is true they are kind of confirming we cant do shit about the future i really hope that is a lie and they give us a diferent path were we can save her and have a new ending.
there is just… something warm and fuzzy about men shipping Cloud and Aerith. I really don’t know why but maybe it’s because they know that love relies on spiritual and emotional connection rather than a physical and more intimate one that Cloud and Tifa has.
I have this perspective with anyone that ships clerith, in my opinion someone that ships clerith has an inherit advantage with their relationship in real life, well at least they have a solid footing most likely. What we prefer in fiction doesn't always equate to nonfiction, but most likely it does when it comes to perspectives on love and connections on a higher level.
Not a shipper by any means, but this was single handedly the best scene in Rebirth and I got chills when Sephiroth walked in to her music. Love Aerith so much. Let’s go kick that mommy’s boys ass in part 3.
I don't know if it was intentional by the developers but... I noticed that Cloud never had his buster sword until Aerith pushed him away... only then was it on his back... and when Sephiroth walked in... he didn't have his sword either... could be intentional... could be nothing... just a thought!
i noticed that all of these streamers are certified Clerith because of a small detail like when Cloud turns his body and look to Aerith and said “Yeah, next time”, it means its high affinity. By the way, in low affinity, Cloud won’t even turn to Aerith and just look straight and said “yeah why not?”
If you haven't already you should check out my video about this, it's actually determined by whether or not the player dated Aerith in ch8 and/or ch12 that triggers the lines. Ofc with cleriths they would have guaranteed dated her once or twice.
Javelin was extremely emotional here, I can't say I agree with him though, but I totally understand and get where he is coming from on the kiss. I'm curious to his views on it now after time has passed and he's not caught in the moment.
Not an eye dry among any Clerith. Such a contrast to the Cloti streamers who react with disdain to this scene. They miss out on the most beautiful emotional aspects of the story because of their delusions.
In fact, I feel sorry for them because they lose a lot because of it. Although I know that many of them may change their minds in the future and I wish that for them.

even though the english translation isn’t as faithful to the Japanese one, i honestly think it still somewhat was able to capture the mood for this church scene in a nice way. This is like one of the few scenes where Cloud actively tries his best to communicate. They both tried to do their best in communicating their feelings. Cloud literally saying “Next time” meaning that he wants more dates was soo cute😭🩷🩷 Aerith being happy that he wants more next times with her 😢 Although I do love the german translation of this scene and how they showed how Cloud wanted to make more memories together. Although english translations usually fail to hit the mark, I think they did a really good job in this scene 🥲 One of my favorite scenes in the game
I have watched this part a dozen times and it always makes me sob. Speaking of which, when Aerith breaks the hug from Cloud, in the jp dub she is sobbing (that's why she turns around quickly to hide the tears). I can't believe how bad the english voice direction is, they have completely taken it out of course. I swear it's like western ppl got to play a different game.

I mean where do we even start here? You’re being disingenuous here and ignoring so much context and nuance. Aerith has agency and the right to move on after 5+ years after a “puppy love” from her young teenage years. Zack accepted Marlene told him about Aerith’s feelings for Zack. Aerith and Zack getting a happy ending is not mutually exclusive.
Aerith is the intended path anyways. And her feelings for Zack are not serious. They make this clear in the games too. But for more information on the story you should read the FF7 BTS books. Also both Zack and Tifa were not even part of the original story. Only Cloud and Aerith, Barret and Red.

It doesn't really matter much if the devs decided that Cloud and Aerith could also be considered soulmates. If they don't see anything inappropriate about it, what are we, the players, left with? Discussions about preferences?
@@Nat_the_White_Mage It's there to give the player more choice, but even if you choose the Aerith route, they don't confess anything serious before she dies. Just think it's very out of character for both of them, but it makes sense for them to have chemistry until they realize Cloud thought he was/was acting like Zach.
Wierd, thanks to this video im just now noticing sephiroth doesnt have a weapon. Could be nothing.. but i cant imagine square would make such a mistake in an important cutscene. Makes me wonder if there could be more at play here
