Im a legit 10 handicap now. Not because I'm a decent golfer but because i've used Cleveland Hb launchers and now this past year the upgrade to the Halo. All the good qualities of the HB launcher but with more distance. People laugh at my irons say how do you hit those ugly things. I laugh right back and watch them spray their blade like irons all over the course. They have to hit a perfectly square shot every time. The Clevelands are so forgiving my mishits are better than my old shots that i thought i flushed.

I put my new Halos in play last week and have played 3 rounds. In all honesty, I wasn't sure if I would like them or not. I'm 75 and carry an 11.2 index. Having played Scrixons and Pings for years, I have never hit the ball better. First round, 83, second round 78, third round, 81. It took about 9 holes to forget about the look and to get rid of my snobbery. Some golfers are more concerned with their own appearance and had rather shoot a 95 with shiny TMs, personally I'm more interested in my "Out/In/Total" at the end of my rounds.

I tried an earlier version of the Cleveland’s and was curious about the Taylormade Stealth HD’s. However, I am staying with my Cobra T-Rails and Cleveland CBX2 wedges. I purchased the Cobra T-Rails after a fitting about one year ago. I have been very pleased with the T-Rails and my handicap has gone lower.

One of your better reviews that will interest so many golfers, especially older golfers with swing problems or anyone who looks at price, which most of us do. I own three sets of clubs, a wonderful old set of Tommy Armour 845’s Silver Scots that are heavy and made of steel, a new set of Cobra XL fly and my new full set of Cleveland XL Halo Hybrid irons. I have now sold the Cobra XL Fly full set and settled into my Cleveland hybrid irons and without any lie I think they are what many “not so good golfers” should try. No digging up soil with bad divots with these babies, just a nice sound and off they go. Don’t just take my word just go and try them out, they won’t disappoint. You can thank me later 😊

I have been using a set of the Launcher HB (pre halo series) for 4-5 years and at 78 with a swing speed around 90 the only way I would get rid of them is if I got a newer set. Thanks for the test. Reminded me how fortunate I am to b smart enough to have nd use them.

I play Cleveland CBX irons but have struggled to hit the 5 and 6 irons consistently. I laid my hands on the Stealth HD 5 and 6 irons to replace them. WOW great decision. They are so easy to hit and get up in the air. I have replaced my 4 iron with the Cleveland Launcher HB 4 iron. Sorted. The gapping is fine and my scores are better. My mates are amazed at the launch I get with the Stealth HDs and I don’t think it will be long before they have some in their bags

I have been playing golf off and on all my life and for about 4 years I played at least 4 times a week and was a 5 handy-cap player. I have not played any serious golf for about 10 years now. But, I am retired now and have stared playing again, not very good i must say. I do have however the occasional shot of a 5 handy-capper and it feels amazing. I am at a 18 handy-cap right now. So to answer your question, I don't care what the club looks like, for me it is getting my strokes down to a respectable 10 handy-cap. I will be looking into both of the clubs you have showcased here. Awesome job and keep up the excellent work.

I have played the Cleveland Halo irons for one season now and because I am 78 but a decent player I thought I would give them a try and even more so was the fact that I wanted to assemble them with my own shafts and grips rather than those cheap shafts and grips you always get with a new set of clubs. Cleveland was very gracious with that request although they could not ship the heads directly to me but agreed to ship them to a dealer who would agree to forward the heads on to me. Believe it or not, I found a fitter/ retailer out in California who agreed to that without charging me at all and I live in Memphis, Tennessee. I put the clubs together and since I have played them one season, the Mizuno forged irons that were in my bag will now have to find a new home. I love these Halo irons and now can't wait to get back out on the course.

After a 20 year break I did a lot of research and the Launcher Halos come up as most forgiving in a lot of reviews. So I bought them and after 6 weeks with them have shaved 20 shots off my score. They are smooth and forgiving. Hit a little left but once you get used to that and adjust they are VG. Have Cleveland CBX AW, SW and LW. The well hit AW is around 50 metres shorter than the Halo PW. It really flys for the 456 and 7. I a can’t see me changing for a long time.

Great video Andy. Two BIG pts come out of this video that Average Golfers should embrace: - you a single digit Avg Golfers loves that 5-hybrid Cleveland iron - it speaks to getting far more Average Golfers to remove traditional 5-irons & replace with these types of irons/hybrids (likely the 6 iron as well). Secondly, using a wide-soled club to chip with - 95% of golfers should be ditching pro gap&sand wedges and should be chipping with wide-soled wedges
@MichaelSisley-fw3xr
@MichaelSisley-fw3xr 18 дней назад
Amen. Wide soled wedges? Absolutely easier to get good with. I will never be pitching into the cup like a pro. I can get it in a 4 foot circle quite a few times, and that results in some one putts. Chip and putt well, the strokes fall away fast. Team that with wide soled game improvement irons / hybrids / woods, more strokes saved. Lastly, decision making. Seek and maintain the ball in the short grass. On tight fairways, I will tee off with an iron sometimes just to make sure I am in the fairway, no matter how far away I am.
@andreaswestman2365
@andreaswestman2365 Год назад
The longer irons in those sets are GENIUS! High launch, accurate and long. If you compare the halos/stealth HD with hybrids, the irons are just as forgiving but with better feel and control. I game the Cleveland HB turbos 4-7, cavity backs in the shorter irons. The 6 “iron” is probably the best golf club ever made.

I have the halos 4 -Sw and the 4/5/6 are my favorites to hit. There definitely is something about the 6 in those. The Mark Crossfield review of the halos talking about the 6 and pointing to the sky, “but it’s that launch, it’s almost like cheating”

I got a set of Cleveland’s just over a month ago to replace my 20 year old callaways and i must say very impressed so far. 4+5 irons harder to hit but when you do they sure go and the rest are just so consistent and easy to play with added yardage
@johnjordan4295
@johnjordan4295 Год назад
Scott, played the halos 1/2 of last year. The 4/5/6 are some of my faves to hit now. Above those is my Hy-wood. It took a while for the look to grow on me with the halos, or maybe realize I don’t care what someone else “may” think.

Been looking at the hy-woods just in case I can’t get on with the long irons but I’m guessing I just need to get more practice in as I haven’t had then for long. Looks wise I quite like them if in honest and I know they make me hit the ball better that’s for sure

@@scottsmith6274 the Hy-Wood is a 3 hybrid with the face of a fairway wood. Andy has a great review of it. It’s my 195-210 club. I can hit the 4 in the Halo irons about 180-190.

I'm so happy to see these products being constantly made to create competition as I just got back into golf after 25 years, next year I will invest in clubs and looking at budget but valuable GI clubs like these Cleveland Halos and these newer ELEVEN hybrid irons. Great review, much appreciated! I love your video reviews because for one, you're out on the course in real conditions rather than just hitting off a mat indoors. I also like someone who is similar to my ability reviewing them rather than a scratch golfer who could make do with just about anything. You see that a lot on RU-vid. I currently play with Ping G710 8 irons through Wedge and 18*, 21*, 24*, and 27* hybrids. I like how I'm hitting most of my clubs, especially hybrids. As for my irons, I hit my Ping Wedge and other wedges fairly well - Callaway Jaws 54* and 58* but am struggling with my 8 and 9 iron. Some of this is due to a lot of tight lies on my course so I'm thinking that a Cleveland Halo 8 and 9 iron might work for me better. I'm thinking about picking up a Halo 8 iron and giving it a try. If it works, then getting the 9 iron (and maybe even a 7). I will say though, one of the things I'll need to get over is being a bit of a golf snob myself and hearing reactions from others who I play with. A couple guys who I play with are so proud of their blades yet I beat them consistently with my game improvement irons.

Beauty remains in the eye of the beholder. Once a club works better than its competitors, it takes on its own form of beauty. Concerning the Halos, they are not only cheaper, but it appears you hit them better overall. Looks to me the high and mid handicap golfers would do well to give these a try.

I have the halos for a couple months and it took a bit of getting used to at first then the transformation came. I was focusing on an simpler swing and these clubs took my simpler swing to the next level. The main problem is once you get used to them its hard to go back to other clubs. I have heard snob golfers on course and even in these comments for this video "clubs wont make you better, its you". That's the aging ignorance in golf mostly from crotchety old men. There are some details to point out though. I could never hit my old 5 iron well and I can destroy with the halo 5, I hit 200ft with not a full swing. The pitching wedge is absolutely butter, the ball just stops within a couple feet. Watch out for too much easy swing power though. The dirt wedge is where the set design fails for me. The technology doesn't mesh in the sand, its too unpredictable but I have a crispy cobra sand wedge so I swapped it out. Next is the weight the heads are heavy and there is an 8g weight in the top of the shaft as well. With steel shafts these things have a noticeable weight difference over standard clubs which will take a toll on arthritis, tendonitis, golf/tennis elbow, etc. My recommendation is to get the carbon shafts if your suffering from any medical constraints. it will be a 10 yard difference loss give or take vs steel but you wont need the voltaren at the end of the day, lol. The grips I'm not a fan of them at all for the steel shaft variants. My 10 year old calaway's have nicer grips. Problem is because of the extra weight of the clubs and the feedback sent back to the golfer, the grips need more dampening. My recommendation is the golf pride CP2 Wrap Midsize.

I don't understand ANYONE who needs this type of ultimate game improvement club getting caught up in sound variances? I returned to golf last year after a 16-year layoff. I tried Cleveland Turbo Launcher, Cobra T-Rail, and Tour Edge Iron Woods. I selected the Tour Edge due to price and a slight advantage in distance. The sound of the ball strike was (and should not be) a factor if you need some help from your irons. I could care less what others think about the look or sound of my clubs. All that matters is how I hit them. Evidently, there are a lot of golfers out there who are focused on the wrong goal. Getting better is all that should matter. I'm 63 and need a double shoulder replacement, in addition to the 16-year layoff discussed earlier. I can 100% recommend this type of club for older golfers. Do yourself a favor, however, and leave out any consideration of sound or looks in your decision strategy. The ultimate game improvement iron that you hit the furthest and most consistently is the one you need!!! Good luck and choose well!

Hi, just ran across your channel. Great reviews on these Cleveland Halos. Is there an advantage with graphite shafts? Im more concerned about consistency than distance, even though I don’t hit the ball real far anyways. Im 6’ tall 190 lbs, multiple rotator cuff surgeries have my upper body strength down quite a bit.

Depends on your swing speed. If you have a moderate swing or better, stick with steel. Graphite is good for those with slower swings.

Andy, playing the Cleveland halos. Really like them. Your hy-wood video was a gateway for me. I noticed you aren’t as “drawy” with the 5 halo as the original review. Do you still feel like you have the face slightly open. It seems like you were hitting the Halos right on the screws. Great content as always!!

@adrianlovett3483 Год назад
I think feel will be key to what you go for, I tried the hybrid irons but they were to brutal and hard sound/ feeling . The Titleist T400 were much better feeling and split sole gives good turf interaction. looks like the HD is doing that a bit as well with the chamfered sole. But whatever game/super game improvement iron you pick it’s got to be better than the “good” looking irons unless you are a pretty low handicapper. Another well known you tuber plays game improvement irons for that reason and he is a pro!!!

@@paulmcgee1867 won’t help what ? The lofts are picked simply to get the required height to match the typical numbered iron. If the T400 had higher lofts the balls would fly to high due to the tech tungsten etc. The loft issue is irrelevant it’s how high the clubs hit the bell for the various clubs.

I have dropped on average 1 stroke a month since i got them. im 62. Hitting my 8 iron 150 meters/164 yards. The contact is crisp. Its like cheating. Im down to 9 HC in 6 months. Best golf of my life. Hitting green in regulation is now common.

Also (having made the switch from Halo to Stealth HD), note the Halos require head covers because the black backing is so easily scratched and marred. At least with the Taylor Made I can bang the club back into the bag after a bad shot without ruining an iron.

Just got fitted for Ping G430's. Traded in Halo XL set. I went with driver, 7&9 fairway woods, 6&7 hybrids, 8,9,PW, 45, 50 bent to 52 and 58 degree wedges. All in the High Launch option which seemed to give me the best results with 85mph driver and 65mph 7 iron clubhead speeds. Had loads of fun with the Halo set. I think the Ping HL's are ladies clubs in disguise.

Andy - you are not done. What about the Tour Edge and the Wilson options? The Taylormade have the most offset which I really don't need. I'm over 70 but my miss is nearly always to the left. I have hit shots with all four and favor the Wilson Launchers but I need to hit them side by side.

Might give them a summer try.

I just got the Stealth HD AND, you'll think I'm nuts, the steel shafted Honma 757VX (from Costco) and have made a blended set. I'm using the Stealth for approach wedge, 6i and 5i and the Honma for PW-7i. At the short edge, I'm playing the lovely Cleveland RTX6 zipcores in 58 and 54 degree. I added lead tape to the Stealth irons to give me a similar swing feel as the Honma. I've only had time to play one round but have played a bunch on a launch monitor setup and really love how these clubs blend together and feel. It may seem weird to play super game improvement along with players forged irons, but it's working for me!
