Just skimmed the album quickly, but so far it's sounding 10x better than the last one. Happy to hear him mov9ng away from the more abstract sort of mumbling groans of pain and back to articulating his lyrics clearly again. It was a cool artistic expression on the last one but just wasn't my bag at all.

Music is there but my man still lacking that proper image. Not talking some prefabricated industry talk either; I just mean it in the most basic of senses. His look and sound and style I feel have yet to really connect with his visual representation. True fans don't give a F**k obv, but if we're trying to indices newcomers we need to figure this out lol Look at Posty ad an example, that White Iverson vibe wasn't it. Eventually he came through and figured the shit out tho. I think part of it is that Clever looks grown as hell (as he should at his age) but unless your in your sober/juicing/weight loss glow up...I feel you gotta leave the typical styles to the youngsters in their teens and 20s. He always feels put if place to me in alot of these vids. Maybe if their was a higher production value and he played a character and got styled the fuck up as some sort of Dark ages cowboy Grim reaper with black amd white lighting and some real shits and technique...not just him not knowing what to do with his hands serenading and viking. This isnt a diss either! I just feel my man's music and soul is wayyyyyyyyy bigger than the effort/style of his visuals. Cole Bennet, as much as I hate to admit it, needs to hop on the right one and make it go. Personally I find Cole's style to be a little predictable and amateur at times, but that's just hater ass energy. He's a young media mogul in 2023 and somehow still knows how to pay homage to the Golden era of the usic video from the mid 90's to early 2000's. I just joke with the slight shade on him because I picture such a cinematic/artistic sort if abstract style for the clever vids. His music isn't straight forward so his videos shouldn't be. Dude is a man out if time with that voice and raw soul and that curly hair just a swanging lmao I don't know if this a drug addiction energy that has a demon on his back, pulling at his blessings and tampering with his full potential and path...or some other weird spiritual turmoil...but my boy hasn't had that pure destiny manifested since Who Is clever dropped along with that fire ass Justin Bieber feature 😂 for real tho it went hard at the time. His talent is always unbreakable, but I can't help but feel that there's something fogging up the view, making the path ahead blurry for him. Something just seems off. Especially that Major Album debut. Rolls Royce Umbrella went hard, don't get me wrong...but even then..I knew somethign was awry. His energy on it just seemed muffled. It was a single tho so I looked past it. Fire, but it just lacked that certain soemthing that made who is clever so classic. That deep rooted connection to his song writing, and just how articulate and connected it was from his mind/spirit to the listeners ear. Then I see he's got Wayne on there, Post, Juice Wrld, Chris Breezy (on the aforementioned RR Umbrella of course) and Lil Baby who I'm personally not a massive fan of but he does his thing for sure, a d was THE BIGGEST requested guest feature at that moment I'm sure. "That Life Goes on" still has one of the illest flows on that chorus to me, so the respect is there for baby, just not a huge fan of his catalogue as a whole is all. Who knows maybe one day 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, every track was a dud. I don't even think Emotions in Motion was on there, and that was prob his best work relative to what he was putting out at that time. Not my fave clever song overall, but for a single it was nice. Every God dang song was just a muffled mumble'fest of inebriated groans and howls. A beautiful avant'garde piece of performance art?... sure. Would it make for a cool little suprise mixtape or something? I think so...but making that the major after the CLASSIC Who Is Clever!? C'mon stop playing with the man. Stop. You mean the album that transcended genres even more potently than Post Malones initial offerings, arguably? The long lost rebel country folk singer that was lacing hip hop drums and trap beats with such originality and clarity, poise and purpose, with prescence of self...was now showing up as a bloated shell of himself. Snap cut to the Label rushing to stack the album with all the biggest names at the time to try and save face during each and every album release delay, but still the result was straight dog water for me. Maybe eve moreso with the guests..as THE DEBUT I mean. I've had my fair share of cringe freestyles that are over a decade old at this point, many drug rattled and fucky, and that's as a non rapper civilian even lol ...and despite being extremely embarssed and self aware of the cringe, i do still leave them existing in this world; because they cater to a very specific beauty of the human condition. Its potent art when viewed through the correct lens... but its not the Magnum Opus Debut that your career is riding on. Lonely was a massive step in the right direction that i actually find myself going back to. I'm tamong what's mine, Forbidden Fruit, You can't save me for a rainy day...that Shame joint has some cool parts...still tho I can sense that broken disconnect in some of the song writing and energy of the performance. There's this disconnect of energy that feels more like him pushing the energy out while another part of him is sedated and non lucid. Again, that's only partially. It's like rative to the CERTIFIED 5 MIC CLASSIC WHO IS CLEVER. He clearly has his soul back with songs like Rainy day and someone up there loves me, the aggression and innovative sound of "Taking what's mine" bring sthe energy full force too. We just need the visuals to match the greatness displayed. It's a great album and only subpar when held up next to WHO IS CLEVER. A fan to the end, I only anyz end critique because I love the music so much brother. I want to hear that gull potential on display and have you live what you've earned cultivating such a raw unique ability in your expression of song. Bravo 👏 ☂️

i can’t front, the album before this wasn’t for me and that’s cool. been rocking with clever since i heard loyalty in 2019 on facebook. clever’s sound here feels more polished, intentional than ever. the lyrics are always on point. even on the album before this one😅 that wasn’t ever the issue. his pen is not to be fucked with. some people are cool with not being in the spotlight. i appreciate the music and support the artist and keep it pushin. the artist has to clock out. the songs are always working.
