We also believe; but he (PBUH) didn't unambiguously claim he's God. He (PBUH) is the way for the people of his time. For example, for Noah (PBUH), those who followed him amongst the people of his era/generation/time, were saved. Muhammad (PBUH) is the Prophet of this Generation; his message Allah SWT gave him is same as all those Prophets before him; God is The Unique One; God is The Absolute Self-Sufficient Master; He begets not nor was He begotten; and there's none like him (He has no co-equal and none is comparable to Him).
