Just moved here to get away from Miami. Born and raised in Miami I never thought I would ever leave Miami. My mom bought land here 2001 when I was a teen so I’ve been coming to Clewiston /Montura for some time. Now I built my home here and this is my base. I still love miami but Clewiston is home. I’m sure more folks from Miami will be doing the same in years to come considering that Clewiston is only 100 miles from Miami. Great video . Thanks for making and sharing the video.
I just moved out here after my time in the marine corps. Bought land, and its been tough. I experienced racism, being told "go back to your country...." i was born here, and i served in the military. Its crazy. Its tough making friends here, the vibes always feel kinda dark
I was born and raised in Clewiston....my grand parents moved down from Georgia for work....its not the same...when I was growing up it seemed better...all my family is about gone now just some cousins left....still have my good friends ....one thing is growing up all of us that went to school we know each other and how we or most stay in touch on fb and when we lose a class mate we are all there sending prayers...only thing I loved was the friendshios...skating rink lol and our theater.....my grandpa ran one of the trains....y dad worked at ussc until he was killed on the job by over 200 killer bees that where out there...I use to work out in the fields cultivating and discing...planting...my dad was proud of me ...but I left in 2008 with my kids ...kind of miss home but don't lol
Born in Clewiston' Hendry county general hospital, Lived in West Palm Beach, Moved to Miami 2 yrs. later, Moved to Connecticut 3yrs after that, Moved to Massachusett 18 yrs after that til Present.

Right...just what I thought when viewing this! They didn't know the damage they were causing. 🤔🤕. The narrator talks as though it was something to be proud of...which it proved to NOT be.
For real palm beach county in a whole, an don’t leave out the part when Henry Flagler tricked the black/Indians off the island. Let up the bridge and burned down their houses!! After they helped build that island up!
Pahokee, FL - Home of Mel Tillis, born in Tampa, the famous country singer who stuttered when he talked due to Malaria when he was a kid, but, he could sing just fine. His daughter, Pam Tillis is from Plant City, FL.
Grew up in clewiston from 95 - 2002 then moved to west palm beach. It’s still divided as far as race there. The whites uptown and the blacks in Harlem. Til this day. They like it that way. I hated it. I had love for all. Glad i left♥️
Nothing has a changed still divided. Unfortunately the residents in Harlem don’t want anything. They get treated disrespectful and they allow it .I could never stay in a town that still sell confederate flags they’re still stuck in the 1950’s
john patacco I was 6 thru 15. We would fish so much in the lake and the Rim Canal. I was young but it was then a great place for kids. My Dad and Mom worked at the hospital.
@@luigigreen9823 We caught Bass, but we went for Specs what most call Crappy. Monster bream. We had fish fries couple times every month. My Dad would take me to Everglades city for Tarpon on light tackle.
I remember my blessed father telling me stories of Clewiston, where he worked in its sugar mills as well as the towns of Moore Haven, Talisman, Belle Glade after we left Cuba along w/thousands of others after the so-called farce of Castro's revolution which my parents/family members & friends turned out to be communists which eventually ruined our beautiful nation but thankfully the blessed U S A opened their hearts to us w/wide open arms to which I'll always be eternally grateful as I so miss & honor their memory for the rest of my days live in wonderful F R E E D O M!🙏⚘🌋🏞😘
(Type O, the new regime were of course "communists wolves in sheeps clothing" not my family/friends & those other brave souls who sacrificed everything/left it all behind w/a lot of us what little were allowed to take w/us by the new ruling thugs of the new regime).
Thank you for remembering & sharing; I miss him & mom everyday more & more but take comfort in God's Promise of Eternal Reunion on a Higher Plane + the wonderful memories of the life I shared growing up around such incredible "Earth Angels"!🙏⚘
Not as sweet as they imply......... I left Clewiston way back in 1956 when I was 2 or 3 years old, Good for me because I would not have survived the southern "Jim Crow Oppression of that era or this era. (Thx Mah) **BOSTON**
This town does indeed have dark energy. The once beautiful lake Okeechobee is full or arsenic from U.S. Sugar. The fish are bigger due to the high amounts if mercury displacement in the water from the companies runoff. The Black and Hispanic communities are subject to environmental racism. With the Black Neighborhood having The U.S Company Blow harmful smokestacks over them. Most that come here have this presence lethargy cast over them. Please do not come to Clewiston and if you have kids please think of their future the High school Here never had a Rating Above C.
Wow the first thing you said really stood out to me! Because I've always gotten a weird vibe when I've in Clewiston and I've also read something about several people dying because if the sugar company and that there has been people who tried to sue the company for getting sick and they ended up mysteriously disappearing. All of those small towns in that area give me a eerie feeling especially that creepy abandoned hospital in Belle Glade!
